Full textArchitecting seeks now to be distinct from its original domain, systems engineering, becoming an emergent domain. Far from being recognized as a science or a discipline, its practice is nowadays more and more widespread. However, this practice is still poorly formalized, and insufficiently being taught, lacking a well-established and accessible corpus of knowledge, techniques or approaches. This thesis contributes filling that gap by proposing a paradigm of the architectural design of artificial complex systems. The latter is built based on existing paradigms that are combined, then completed. It aims at providing architects with an effective, even performative framework. It results in an approach of the architectural design structured in four levels.A so-called archetypal level grasps the core principles of any approach of architectural design of artificial complex systems. These principles are derived from various approaches already applied, mainly in the field of system or product design, but also of architectural design of buildings.A so-called general level lies on the principle of a present-future division. In that sense, it differs from engineering approaches that usually rely on a problem-solution dichotomy. It is based on the following main idea: we should consent that when an architect designs, he does not solve problems, but he devises possible and plausible futures, requiring to perceive the present. This vision of the architect's way of working directly impacts the kind of artefacts he handles. We sho how to aggregate these artefacts into models, reflecting either his perception of the present, or his development of futures while progressing through some identified processes.A so-called particular level aims at allowing the storytelling of a given design. To achieve this goal, a notation of the design process is suggested. It lies on some basic mechanisms, one of them being the combination divergence-convergence, called the breathing of the architectural design. At last, a so-called toolbox level, not addressed in this thesis, would consist of various cognitive operations required for the architect in order to accomplish his task of designing (abstraction, questioning, judgement, comparison, decision, etc.)The whole approach is illustrated by an example of an architectural design of a complex system: a Safe City

Full textThis thesis tackles the problem of embedded system design, which are often qualified as complex systems because their development requires multidisciplinary expertise. A development strategy is then essential to design these systems. As an application, we focused on UAV embedded systems, which show very severe development constraints. We propose a development approach oriented COTS-based embedded systems. This approach combines several methods from classic software engineering filed that we have adapted for embedded systems. We applied this approach to develop an embedded sensors system for a micro fixed wings UAVs.The designed embedded system has been deployed on an UAV, a mobile and a bicycle. The aim is to validate the UAV embedded system using a lower cost platforms and with less complexity, while ensuring sensors data consistency and interpretation regarding the dynamic of the three platforms. These experiments highlight the theoretical similarities between those three dynamics. Furthermore, we built a simulation platform that aims to support the proposed development approach. We used this platform to design a control, guidance and navigation system for a fixed wings UAV. These applications show the effectiveness of the proposed development approach

Full textMany institutions and companies aim to manage precisely the energy performance of their building stocks, in particular by relying on the Internet of Things (IoT) which allows the large-scale deployment of sensors. The supervision of these building stocks can then be done using distributed computing and by exploiting the data collected using machine learning methods. The concept of Trusted Third Party for Energy Measurement and Performance (TTPEMP) is needed with Cloud technologies to manage these energy ecosystems. The question addressed in this thesis is the design of a distributed and scalable supervision system, ranging from data collection to dashboards provisioning, allowing management of the buildings’ infrastructures of several institutions. The resolution of this goal faces several major difficulties: the different scales of space and time, the system’s components heterogeneity, the inherent challenges of distributed computing and building energy modeling. Distributed computing raises issues related to microservices orchestration and choreography, in particular those of scalability. In this context, highlighting the genericity of the provided solution over the technical details requires an abstract formalism. To this end, the presentation of the supervision system architecture makes use of the Orc process algebra which is suitable for the choreography of concurrent and distributed processes that are subject to delays and failures. Our second contribution consists in providing a hierarchical model called Multi-Institution Building Energy System (MIBES) designed for the modeling of the TTPEMP. This model highlights different subsystems, that are essential for decision-making : sensors, sites, groups of sites (building stocks) and organizations. It rationally prepares the development of algorithms by providing multiple views at the different modeling levels. These algorithms are organized as an extensible library of microservices. The adoption of Development and Operations (DevOps) methods responds to human organization by advocating human collaboration between the departments of the organization in charge of the project and the automation of the latter. By integrating these DevOps principles, a prototype of the supervision system is developed in order to demonstrate the various advantages brought by our approach. These advantages are expressed in the form of scaling, reproducibility and decision-making facilities. The prototype thus produced forms a solid basis for buildings’ smart supervision and can be reused for other applications such as Smart Grids

Full textThe title of our thesis is Complex Systems, CAD tools and Nanotechnologies. It concerns the study of the techniques allowing to configure a circuit containing a very high number of very simple elements and inter-connected in a very complex network, in order to emulate natural or artificial complex systems. In this context we propose a platform of CAD tools which helps the implementation and the simulation of this type of systems. Initially, we implemented a first tool of this platform allowing to experiment by simulation the laws which govern the evolution of the target system. This simulation allows to validate or alter these laws before the implementation in the nanonetwork. Then, we use this tool to experiment on various complex systems, such as artificial ecosystems and systems of particles in which a relativistic space time geometry emerges, as a consequence of the type of laws of interactions of the particles

Full textWe are interested in representing, analyzing and implementing some behaviours in complex systems (such as augmented reality environments) which are mobile and scalable. Our work is carried out in an approach which leads to an helping tool for the design of interactive systems, i. E systems which are based on a strong interaction with a component of visualization. So, an agent oriented approach is adopted in order to model and to design such systems. More particularly, our work led us on the one hand to develop a model and a design method which are focused on the concept of interaction and on the other hand to formalize the interactivity by means of a scenario analysis. Usually, multi-agent system design methodologies highlight the concept of role the agents have to play. We think that a role is related to an interaction and thus we focus the design phase on the viewpoints that the interactions represent. Our developed approach is based on a formal representation of the agents using the Ambient calculus. This approach underlines several architectural solutions. At the same time, we want to consider the end-user or an expert user during the interactive system development. So, we were led to define a formalization of scenarios. This formalization in Linear Logic allows us to analyze user needs and to check some properties of these scenarios. So, we have a language of control that can express simulation processes. An application is carried out in the case of the design of urban traffic systems
