Abstract:
The textbook examines the main provisions of the international standard in the field of national accounting — the System of National Accounts 2008. The fundamental concepts of the system of national accounts are described, such as the concept of economic production and the concept of income, which determine the content of the main indicators of the system, the content of such categories as "economic operation" and "economic asset" is explained. Recent changes are given in the interpretation of a number of important economic transactions, such as spending on research and development, on the acquisition of weapons systems, the issuance of financial intermediation services, the issuance of central bank services. The system of key accounts and its main indicators, such as gross domestic product, gross national income, gross national disposable income, national wealth, as well as methods of their calculation are characterized. The tasks, tests and control questions for all topics are given, as well as a dictionary of the most important terms of the system of national accounts in Russian and English and a list of recommended literature. The system of national accounts is a special system of ordering data on an innumerable number of economic transactions carried out by a multitude of economic entities. This ordering, based on the most important concepts and definitions of the system of national accounts, allows us to show the relationship between the most significant aspects of the economic process, which is necessary for decision-making by public authorities on the formation of economic policy. The study of the system of national accounts should contribute to the development of economic thinking. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation. It is intended primarily for undergraduate and graduate students studying in the field of Economics.

Schmelz, Peter J. Alfred Schnittke's Concerto Grosso no. 1. Oxford University Press, 2019. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780190653712.001.0001.

Full text
Abstract:
This book provides for the first time an accessible, comprehensive study of Alfred Schnittke’s Concerto Grosso no. 1 (1977). One of Schnittke’s best-known and most compelling works, the Concerto Grosso no. 1 sounds the surface of late Soviet life, resonating as well with contemporary compositional currents around the world. This innovative monograph builds on existing publications about the Concerto Grosso no. 1 in English, Russian, and German, augmenting and complicating them. It adds new information from underused primary sources, including Schnittke’s unpublished correspondence and his many published interviews. It also engages further with his sketches for the Concerto Grosso no. 1 and contemporary Soviet musical criticism. The result is a more objective, historical appraisal of this rich, multifaceted composition. The Concerto Grosso no. 1 provided a utopian model of the contemporary soundscape. It was a decisive point in Schnittke’s development of the approach he called polystylism, which aimed to contain in a single composition the wide range of contemporary musical styles, including jazz, pop, rock, and serial music. Thanks to it and his other similar compositions, Schnittke became one of the most-performed and most-recorded living composers at the end of the twentieth century. The novel structure of this book engages the Concerto Grosso no. 1 conceptually, historically, musically, and phenomenologically: the six movements of the composition frame the six chapters. The present volume thus provides a holistic accounting of Schnittke’s Concerto Grosso no. 1, its influences, and its impact on subsequent music making in the Soviet Union and worldwide.

Abstract:
This chapter is the first of three chapters to look at the relationship between a Thomaskantor, who oversaw the church music, and a Kapellmeister (music director) of the public concerts. Thomaskantor Johann Friedrich Doles and Kapellmeister Johann Adam Hiller are highlighted. The chapter examines developments in church music repertoire under Johann Sebastian Bach; his immediate successor, Gottlob Harrer; and Doles. Hiller began his career in Leipzig as director of the public Grosse Concert in 1743. After directing the Musikübende Gesellschaft and the Gewandhaus orchestra, he became Thomaskantor in 1789. Public concert music under Hiller continued to be heavily influenced by trends in church music. Hiller replaced Doles as Thomaskantor in 1789.

Abstract:
This book examines church music and public concert music in Leipzig, Germany, a city in Saxony, in the period between 1750 (the year Thomaskantor Johann Sebastian Bach died) and 1847 (the year that Gewandhaus orchestra conductor Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy died). The century in between these events was critically important for sacred music and public concert music. During this period, Leipzig’s church music enterprise, a bulwark of orthodox Lutheranism, was convulsed by repeated external threats—a growing middle class that viewed music as an object of public consumption, religious and political tumult, and the chaos of the Seven Years' War and the invasion of Napoleon. How church and concert life in Leipzig changed because of these forces is the focus of this book. Whereas most European cities saw their public concerts grow out of secular institutions such as a royal court or an opera theater, neither of these existed when Leipzig’s first subscription concert series, the Grosse Concert, was started in 1743. Instead, the city had a thriving church music enterprise that had been brought to its zenith by Bach. Paid subscription concerts therefore found their roots in Leipzig’s church music tradition, with important and unique results.
