In the composition Archetypal Dreams, musical imagery is created through motifs and ideas that represent the symbolic messages of the unconscious. These motifs are introduced, developed, transformed, and overlapped in contrapuntal dialogue. This unfolding of material grows in significance and complexity building to a resolution of tension. The relationship of motifs to the row is re-established and the row is reconstructed. In this manner the conscious and unconscious elements of the personality are symbolically reconciled. This concerto is the composer’s conversation with the past. In four movements, each one embodies a traditional musical form. The work is a continually transforming kaleidoscope of relentless virtuosity, fanciful flights of harmony and melody, and unapologetic shifts in timbre and texture. Although conceived in four separate movements, the entire work is without intervening pauses. The concerto grosso is scored for flute, violin, piano, and string orchestra, and is approximately twenty-five minutes in duration.

O objetivo deste estudo é investigar até que ponto o conceito de estratégia foi considerado na gestão das microempresas de Ponta Grossa, no Paraná, no ano 2002. Tal propósito deve-se ao grande número de microempresas extintas a cada ano, em todo o Brasil. Especificamente, o estudo busca caracterizar o ambiente geral e o ambiente específico das microempresas de Ponta Grossa, no Paraná; detectar as principais forças competitivas em torno das microempresas; verificar se as microempresas aplicaram o conceito de estratégia na gestão de seus negócios; e em face dos resultados obtidos, propor medidas de aperfeiçoamento para uma gestão estratégica nas empresas. A pesquisa classifica-se como descritiva, com caráter exploratório. Constitui-se em uma pesquisa quantitativa, do tipo Survey (levantamento). A pesquisa trabalha com uma amostragem do universo de 1.131 microempresas ativas em Ponta Grossa, no Paraná, totalizando 295 empresas entrevistadas. Os resultados demonstram que o conceito de estratégia empresarial foi considerado no processo de gestão da maioria das empresas entrevistadas, porém não em número satisfatório. São estratégias realizadas, algumas formalizadas num plano e uma grande maioria resultante de um processo de aprendizado tanto individual como da coletividade da empresa, que convergiu para um padrão estratégico estabelecido a partir de pequenas decisões e ações consideradas eficazes. No entanto, os resultados da pesquisa indicam também que é significativo o percentual de empresas sem estratégia para seus negócios e que a maioria das microempresas ainda não está consciente da necessidade de analisar constantemente o ambiente no qual está inserida. Por esse motivo tornam-se válidas as medidas propostas neste estudo para que a gestão estratégica se efetive nas microempresas.

O trabalho, na interface entre comunicação e música, descreve e analisa as estratégias de comunicação integrada da Orquestra do Estado de Mato Grosso (OEMT) na formação de vínculos sociais com seus diversos públicos: imprensa, escolas, comunidades rurais e urbanas, artistas e público. Na perspectiva da comunicação como cultura (LIMA, 2001), a pesquisa considera o processo de divulgação da música de concerto como atividade relevante na formação de plateias. Dessa forma foi relevante avaliar quantidade e alcance de conteúdo jornalístico publicado em revistas (especializadas ou não), programas de televisão, jornais impressos, rádios, sites, mídias sociais digitais e apresentações exibidas pela internet, gravadas ou ao vivo. Somam-se a isso as publicações oficiais da OEMT, como o livro Programa de Concerto lançado a cada temporada contendo informações sobre repertórios, compositores, instrumentistas e maestros, exibindo agenda anual completa. Por fim, faz-se necessário reservar parte dos estudos à formação de campo (BOURDIEU, 2007) e às características de comunicação integrada, delineadas por Margarida Kunsch.
This work, at the interface between communication and music, describes and analyzes the integrated communication strategies of the Orquestra of Mato Grosso (OEMT) in its goal of creation of social ties with its diversity of publics: the press (local and national), schools, rural communities and urban artists and the general public. From the perspective of communication as culture (LIMA, 2001), considers the process of dissemination of concert music as a relevant activity in the formation of audiences. Thus, we analyzed interviews and newspaper articles, magazines (specialized or not), television, radio, websites, social media and digital presentations displayed on the internet. Added to this the official publications of OEMT, as the book Concert Program launched each season containing information about repertoires, composers, instrumentalists and conductors with annual calendars. Furthermore, albums, DVDs, videos and documentaries produced from the Center for Communication OEMT. Finally, it is necessary to reserve part of the study to the creation of the field (Bourdieu, 2007) and the characteristics of the integrated communication, delineated by Margarida Kunsch.

Abstract:
The thesis proposes an interpretation of three of Alfred Schnittke's polystylistic symphonies through the cultural theories of Mikhail Bakhtin. Schnittke's symphonies use stylistic plurality to explore notions of identity, both musical and personal, and to create a sense of engagement between his music and its cultural context. Bakhtin's writings are also concerned with the artistic potential of stylistic interaction. He used the concept of verbal dialogue as a model for stylistic plurality in literature. In dialogue, individuals can be identified by the specific stylistic profile of their speech. The interaction oflanguage styles within artworks can therefore be interpreted through comparison to the verbal interactions of individuals within a society. Notions of identity can be explored in this model through the dynamic interplay of the personal and the collective. In the thesis, Bakhtin's concept ofliterary dialogue is taken as the starting point for an interpretation of stylistic interaction in music. The writings of the Russian musicologist Boris Asafev are used to help translate Bakhtin's languagespecific theories to music through his conviction that musical semantics is closely linked to verbal communication. Each of the three symphonies selected for examination is discussed in terms of the ways in which polystylism is used to explore notions of identity. Much of Schnittke' s music is motivated by the struggle for identity and each ofthe works approaches the problem from a different angle. The Third Symphony explores Schnittke's relationship to German culture, the Fourth to liturgical culture, and the Concerto Grosso no.4/Symphony no. 5 to the legacies of Bach and Mahler. The thesis argues that Schnittke's exploration ofthese issues is highly dialogic, and that the interplay of stylistic identity constructions within the works has the effect of consolidating both the artistic status of the music itself, and the cultural status of its composer.

Abstract:
Black grouse Tetrao tetrix is a bird species composed of large, continuous as well as severely reduced and fragmented populations, making it an optimal species to investigate how genetic diversity is affected by habitat fragmentation. I have focused on genetic diversity in the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) to measure the ability of the black grouse to respond to environmental changes. I partly characterized MHC class II in black grouse and found striking similarities with chicken MHC class II. I demonstrated that black grouse possess a similar compact MHC as chicken with few MHC class II B (BLB) and Y (YLB) loci. I did not find evidence of balancing selection in YLB so I concentrated further studies on BLB. I developed a PCR-based screening method for amplifying and separating expressed BLB alleles in European black grouse populations. Small fragmented populations had lost neutral genetic diversity (based on microsatellites and SNPs) compared to samples from the historical distribution and contemporary large populations. There was also a trend, albeit less pronounced, for reduced MHC diversity in these populations. Neutral markers in small isolated populations were affected by increased levels of genetic drift and were therefore genetically differentiated compared to other populations. MHC markers on the other hand, were not subjected to genetic drift to the same extent probably due a long historic process of balancing selection. Inferences of heterozygosity and evolutionary patterns as well as detailed correlations to reproductive success and diseases cannot be performed until MHC can be amplified in a locus-specific manner. Therefore, I developed a single locus sequence-based typing method for independently amplifying MHC class II B loci (BLB1 and BLB2). I found that BLB1 and BLB2 were duplicated in a common ancestor to chickens and black grouse and that these loci are subjected to homogenizing concerted evolution due to inter-genetic exchange between loci after species divergence.  I could also verify that both BLB1 and BLB2 were transcribed in black grouse and under balancing selection. This collection of work has significance for future conservation of black grouse as well as research and management of zoonotic diseases.

Estudos demonstram que a obesidade atualmente é um problema de saúde pública. Entretanto, pesquisas sobre a relação entre obesidade infantil e auto-conceito de pré-escolares no Brasil são escassas. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi o de avaliar o autoconceito em pré-escolares e verificar se haviam diferenças e alterações no autoconceito nos sujeitos classificados como obesos e não obesos. Participaram do estudo 35 crianças (com idades entre 05 e 06 anos), de ambos os sexos de três escolas de Dourados/MS. Desse total 22 crianças foram classificadas como obesas (meninas e meninos com índices de massa corporal variando de P85 a P 95); o grupo de não obesas era composto por 13 crianças (sendo meninas e meninos, com a mesma faixa etária e índice de massa corporal entre P5 a P85). Investigaram-se variáveis como: obesidade, autoconceito, auto-imagem e hábitos alimentares. O estudo comportou três momentos. A primeira fase consistiu da avaliação antropométrica (o uso de medidas antropométricas tem sido considerado uma estratégia válida para gerar indicadores nutricionais e identificar o Índice de Massa Corporal). A segunda fase foi destinada a aplicação do teste projetivo H-T-P (para avaliar autoconceito e auto-imagem). Na última fase os pais responderam um questionário sobre os hábitos alimentares das crianças que participaram da pesquisa. Os resultados obtidos na análise de dados apontam que os grupos diferenciaram-se apenas na variável obesidade, não havendo alterações nas demais, não permitindo, portanto, associar, neste estudo, obesidade e alteração de autoconceito em pré-escolares obesas e não obesas. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
Studies demonstrate that the obesity is now a problem of public health. Owever, research about the relationship between infantile obesity and preschool children`s selfconcept in Brazil are scarce. The objective of the present work was evaluate the selfconcept in preschool children and to verify if there were differences and alterations in the self-concept in obese and non-obese subjects. Participated in the study 35 children (between 05 and 06 years), old from both sexes, three schools at Dourados – MS. From this total 22 children were classified as obese (girls and boys whit corporal mass indexes varying from P85 to P95); the non-obese group was composed by 13 children (girls and boys, whit the same age group and corporal mass index between P5 and P85). The variables investigated were: obesity, self-concept, corporal image and eating habits. The study held three moments. The first phase consisted in the anthropometrics evaluation (the use of anthropometrics measures has been considered a valid strategy to generate nutritional indicators and to identify the corporal mass index. The second phase was destined to the application of the projection’s test H T P (to evaluate selfconcept and corporal image). On the last phase, the parents answered a questionnaire about the eating habits of the children’s. The results, point out that the groups just differ in the variable obesity, whit no, alterations in the others variables. Therefore, this study, does not indicate an alteration between obesity and self-concept alteration in preschool obese and non-obese. .

Abstract:
This document provides a resource for Franz Liszt's unfamiliar piano work, the Grosses Konzertsolo and his subsequent rearrangement of the work for two pianos entitled Concerto pathetique. The Introduction places the work in its historical context as a precursor to the great Sonata in B minor and discusses possible reasons for its various revisions. Chapter One details Liszt's productive years from 1849-1853 in Weimar and selected keyboard works from this period which are closely related to the Grosses Konzertsolo. Chapter Two provides information on Liszt's first published piano works and his experiments with form, as well as a comparison of the Grosses Konzertsolo with the Sonata in B minor, in terms of motivic and thematic development. Technical issues and obstacles to performance are also addressed. Chapter Three compares the Concerto pathetique with the Grosses Konzertsolo showing how Liszt's rearrangement becomes more practical as well as effective. Chapter Four discusses Hans von Bulow's version of the Concerto pathetique and includes a brief biography.

Essa verificação teve por objetivo identificar possível viés ou atribuições egotímicas por parte dos professores em exercício, quando confrontados com as pressões do exercício profissional . A atribuição egotímica é aquela que tem por objetivo o deslocamento de uma atribuição interna para externa, preservando assim a auto-estima e o autoconceito do sujeito. Foram aplicados questionários em discentes de uma universidade pública estadual do Mato Grosso, bem como em professores egressos dessa mesma instituição que atuam na rede pública de ensino. Foram elaboradas categorias conforme as respostas dos entrevistados e as diferenças nas alusões às categorias por parte de docentes em exercício e discentes apontam para a ocorrência do fenômeno da atribuição egotímica por parte dos professores.
This work had as main objective the verification of the perceptions of teachers and students about school failure in a course of pedagogics. This verification had the objective of identifying possible bias or egothymics attributions by the operating teachers, when collated with the pressures of the professional exercise. The egothymics attribution can be expressed on the displacement of an attribution from the internal to a external side, thus preserving the self-esteem and the self-concept of the subject. Questionnaires had been applied to students of a state public university of the Mato Grosso, as well as in teachers originated from the same institution and who act in the public net of education. Categories have been elaborated according to the interviewed onesþ answers and the differences in the mention to the categories between the operating teachers and the students point to the occurrence of the egothymics attribution phenomenon in the teachers side.

This dissertation has for objective to verify which or which are the concepts of corporal beauty, for apprentices of the modality of Bodypump of the gyms of Curitiba. The Chapter I intends to present the logic of the construction of the work. The second chapter possesses as main theoretical unit to Jean Baudrillard works. A vision on the contemporary society, the mass society that is privileged and in this the subjects related to the feminine body. In this chapter he comes the Theory of Consumption proposed by Baudrillard and the lines that characterize that same society. The third chapter looks for to bring the problem inside of a linked to the broadcastings. The Chapter IV presents the understanding that is had regarding the models of bodies: body, aesthetics, corporal beauty and corporal practices of academy In the Chapter V the construction of the analysis model will be observed used. For this, the reflections of Maffesoli and his/her Theoretical "Model of Aesthetics" are used based on a composition of linked aesthetic style to the daily. In the Chapter VI they are the analyses of the data and the obtained results. It was verified that for the researched group the practice of the modality Bodypump has as main function to look for a spread beauty model for the communication means and pursued by the visitors of corporal practices of academy. After these analyses the following conclusion was arrived: the interviewees' answers show that the beauty concept is linked the corporal aesthetics in an attempt of search of the happiness.
Esta dissertação tem por objetivo verificar qual ou quais são os conceitos de beleza corporal, para praticantes da modalidade de Bodypump das academias de ginástica de Curitiba. O Capítulo I pretende apresentar a lógica da construção do trabalho. O segundo capítulo possui como principal unidade teórica às obras de Jean Baudrillard. Uma visão sobre a sociedade contemporânea, a sociedade de massa que é privilegiada e nesta as questões relacionadas ao corpo feminino. Neste capítulo apresenta-se a Teoria de Consumo proposta por Baudrillard e os traços que caracterizam essa mesma sociedade. O terceiro capítulo busca trazer o problema dentro de uma contextualização ligada aos meios de comunicação de massa. O Capítulo IV apresenta o entendimento que se tem a respeito dos modelos de corpos: corpo, estética, beleza corporal e práticas corporais de academia. No Capítulo V observar-se-á a construção do modelo de análise utilizado. Para isto, utilizam-se as reflexões de Maffesoli e o seu “Modelo Teórico de Estética” baseado numa composição de estilo estético ligado ao cotidiano. No Capítulo VI encontram-se as análises dos dados e os resultados obtidos. Constatou-se que para o grupo pesquisado a prática da modalidade Bodypump tem como função principal buscar um modelo de beleza difundido pelos meios de comunicação e perseguido pelas freqüentadoras de práticas corporais de academia. Após estas análises chegou-se a seguinte conclusão: as respostas das entrevistadas mostram que o conceito de beleza está ligado a estética corporal numa tentativa de busca da felicidade.

Este trabalho foi proposto com o objetivo de implementar uma ferramenta computacional para estimar os estados (tensões complexas nodais) de um sistema elétrico de potência e aplicar métodos alternativos para o processamento de erros topológicos, erros de parâmetros e/ou de erros grosseiros em medidas, baseados na interpretação geométrica dos erros e no conceito de inovação das medidas. O método utilizado para a resolução do problema de estimação de estado é o de mínimos quadrados ponderados. Através da interpretação geométrica, demonstrou-se matematicamente que o erro da medida é constituído de uma componente detectável e uma não-detectável, entretanto, as metodologias até então utilizadas para o processamento de erros consideram apenas a componente detectável do erro e, como consequência, podem falhar. Na tentativa de contornar essa limitação e baseado nos conceitos citados previamente, foi estudada e implementada uma metodologia alternativa para processar tais erros baseada na análise das componentes dos erros das medidas. Em primeiro lugar, é testado se o conjunto de medidas possui erros utilizando, para isso, o valor do erro de medida composto normalizado. Em seguida, diferencia-se se um ou outro erro ocorreu, ou mesmo se mais de um tipo de erro ocorreu. A correção a ser feita no parâmetro de linha ou na medida com erro grosseiro será o erro normalizado composto correspondente. A abordagem proposta neste trabalho requer somente um conjunto de medidas, e no mesmo instante. Para validação do programa, foram feitas diversas simulações nos sistemas de 14 e 57 barras do IEEE.
This work was proposed with the objective to implement a computational tool to estimate the states (nodal complex voltages) of a power system and apply alternative methods for the processing of topological errors, parameter errors and/or gross errors in measurements, based on the geometric interpretation of the errors and the innovation concept of measurements. The method used to solve the state estimation problem is the weighted least squares. Through geometric interpretation, it has been demonstrated mathematically that the measurement error is composed by a detectable component and a non-detectable, however, the methodologies heretofore used for error processing consider only the detectable component of the error and, consequently, can fail. In an attempt to overcome this limitation and based on the concepts mentioned previously, an alternative approach to process such errors was studied and implemented based on the analysis of the components of the measurements errors. Firstly, it is tested if the set of measurements has errors using, for that, the value of the composed measurement error in its normalized way. Next, it diers if either an error has occurred, or if more than one type of error occurred. The correction to be made in the line parameter or the measurement with gross error is the correspondent composed normalized error. The proposed approach in this paper requires only a set of measures, and at the same instant. To validate the software, several simulations were performed in the IEEE 14-bus and 57-bus systems.

Este trabalho foi proposto com o objetivo de implementar um programa computacional para estimar os estados (tensões complexas nodais) de um sistema elétrico de potência (SEP) e aplicar métodos alternativos para o processamento de erros grosseiros (EGs), baseados na interpretação geométrica dos erros e no conceito de inovação das medidas. Através da interpretação geométrica, BRETAS et al. (2009), BRETAS; PIERETI (2010), BRETAS; BRETAS; PIERETI (2011) e BRETAS et al. (2013) demonstraram matematicamente que o erro da medida se compõe de componentes detectáveis e não detectáveis, e ainda que a componente detectável do erro é exatamente o resíduo da medida. As metodologias até então utilizadas, para o processamento de EGs, consideram apenas a componente detectável do erro, e como consequência, podem falhar. Na tentativa de contornar essa limitação, e baseadas nos trabalhos citados previamente, foram estudadas e implementadas duas metodologias alternativas para processar as medidas portadoras de EGs. A primeira, é baseada na análise direta das componentes dos erros das medidas; a segunda, de forma similar às metodologias tradicionais, é baseada na análise dos resíduos das medidas. Entretanto, o diferencial da segunda metodologia proposta reside no fato de não considerarmos um valor limiar fixo para a detecção de medidas com EGs. Neste caso, adotamos um novo valor limiar (TV, do inglês: Threshold Value), característico de cada medida, como apresentado no trabalho de PIERETI (2011). Além disso, com o intuito de reforçar essa teoria, é proposta uma forma alternativa para o cálculo destes valores limiares, através da análise da geometria da função densidade de probabilidade da distribuição normal multivariável, referente aos resíduos das medidas.
This work was proposed with the objective of implementing a computer program to estimate the states (complex nodal voltages) in an electrical power system (EPS) and apply alternative methods for processing gross errors (GEs), based on the geometrical interpretation of the measurements errors and the innovation concept. Through the geometrical interpretation, BRETAS et al. (2009), BRETAS; PIERETI (2010), BRETAS; BRETAS; PIERETI (2011) and BRETAS et al. (2013) proved mathematically that the measurement error is composed of detectable and undetectable components, and also showed that the detectable component of the error is exactly the residual of the measurement. The methods hitherto used, for processing GEs, consider only the detectable component of the error, then as a consequence, may fail. In an attempt to overcome this limitation, and based on the works cited previously, were studied and implemented two alternative methodologies for process measurements with GEs. The first one is based on the direct analysis of the components of the errors of the measurements, the second one, in a similar way to the traditional methods, is based on the analysis of the measurements residuals. However, the differential of the second proposed methodology lies in the fact that it doesn\'t consider a fixed threshold value for detecting measurements with GEs. In this case, we adopted a new threshold value (TV ) characteristic of each measurement, as presented in the work of PIERETI (2011). Furthermore, in order to reinforce this theory, we propose an alternative way to calculate these thresholds, by analyzing the geometry of the probability density function of the multivariate normal distribution, relating to the measurements residuals.

This research contributes a detailed personal account of a FEMEN activist. It presents an autophenomenographic analysis of cultural artefacts, including a Retrospective Diary, resulting from the activity of Yelena Myshko in FEMEN between 2012 and 2014. Previously FEMEN has been used as raw material for external analysis by press and academics to fit their individual agendas. To counteract this, Myshko’s research proposes an insider perspective on FEMEN activism. She writes herself in response to academics and FEMEN leader Inna Shevchenko who ignore the contribution of FEMEN Netherlands. Myshko merges author/researcher/researched and uses evocative storytelling to provide an introspective account of sextremism, connecting it to relevant embodiment concepts that illustrate its technology of empowerment and unintended side effects.   Through an autophenomenographic analysis of her personal experience, Myshko suggests how FEMEN employs sextremism to create soldiers of feminism. Her research proposes that sextremism is an attitude, a way of life and technology of resistance. For Myshko, sextremism embodies feminist polemic that turns against patriarchy through topless protest. Through personal accounts she illustrates how she internalized this aggressive femininity during physical and mental training. Myshko argues that in protest FEMEN activists communicate to the public and mobilize new activists through feminist snap. In addition, Myshko observes that sextremism produces visual activism that internalizes feminist polemic and transforms it into figurative storytelling. Myshko explains how she reproduced sextremism through body image that made her assertive and empowered her in action.   In turn Myshko demonstrates how personal accounts of sextremist embodiment and problems encountered as a woman in the world reproduce FEMEN’s fight in the media. Myshko analysis interviews with the press where she pinpoints topical feminist issues, making FEMEN real and relevant in Western society. Myshko observes that the media appropriated the spectacle created by FEMEN Netherlands but often distorted it and bend the news to fit its own agenda. In addition, the media criticized FEMEN Netherlands for cross-passing national values and power symbols. For Myshko, sextremism is empowering but also destructive. It promotes an unapologetic self-critical attitude that accumulates collateral damage in battle. The sporadic and restrained relationships between activists does not allow intimacy. Because of the eye of the media, tenderness is perceived as weakness and is not aloud. The combination of criticism, media scrutiny and police persecution hurt Myshko’s feelings. These unresolved feelings of hurt led to resentment and disengagement from FEMEN.

In Taiwanese music culture, Hakka ba-yin music has its rich tradition. It can be classified primarily into southern and northern Hakka ba-yin, each of them contains different instrumentation and musical form from the other; and to a certain degree, their styles had been integrated with other genres in Taiwanese folk music. This dissertation focuses first on a traditional ba-yin qupai (the title of a particular tune) in southern Taiwan, called ''wu ta tiao'': a delicate four-players ensemble. Through field recordings, visual and audio information, document induction, and analyzing musical notations, one could understand the history, musical content, performing character of wu ta tiao, and how it work in Hakka ba-yin music at Meinung. Composition for Chinese orchestra "Concerto Grosso for Hakka Ba-yin Music" written by Chen Ning-chi in 2006, and another composer Chen Shu-si''s work for symphony orchestra "Concerto for Ba-yin Music" composed in 2007, are both based on the qupai ''wu ta tiao''. By studying these two Compositions, not only could this author realize the transcribing techniques used in the works, such as deformation, fusion, transplantation etc, but also observe how ba-yin ensemble in the oral tradition and compositions for western or Chinese orchestra in the written tradition is combined, and how music unfolds through this combination. Furthermore, do these two compositions which developed from ''wu ta tiao'' in Hakka ba-yin help popularizing Hakka music, is also discussed in this research. Since academically publications about southern Hakka ba-yin musical art are not so many, this study is hoped to arise more compositions and researches for Hakka music, and make its little contribution to Hakka ba-yin music in southern Taiwan.

O presente trabalho pretende explorar a felicidade como motor e objetivo primordial do desenvolvimento. Num primeiro momento pretende-se estudar o conceito de desenvolvimento, suas críticas e inovações, focando os conceitos de desenvolvimento alternativo e conceitos alternativos ao desenvolvimento, nomeadamente o conceito de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (DS) e de Felicidade Interna Bruta (FIB). Após reflexão sobre ambos os conceitos, será discutida a mais valia da sua complementaridade, ou seja, ao invés de olharmos os conceitos como pertencentes a esferas distintas, porque não olhá-los numa perspetiva copulativa? Assim, ao integrar os dois, integramos as suas melhores características e propomos o esboço de um novo conceito, o de Felicidade Sustentável (FS). Este, à semelhança dos seus fecundadores propõe diretivas para a definição e construção de medidas que orientem o desenvolvimento no sentido da redução da miséria e aumento da felicidade e bem-estar enquanto experiência individual - do indivíduo - e coletiva - da comunidade/ sociedade.
This paper proposes to explore the role of happiness in development. In the first instance, the concept of ‘development’ will be analyzed, alongside the purposes of ‘alternative development’ and ‘other alternatives to development’ per se such as ‘Sustainable Development” and “Gross National Happiness”. Following some reflection on these two concepts, the paper will then focus on their complementary benefits, in lieu of accepting them as being on individual planes. This way, the best characteristics of each one of the concepts can be integrated into a new proposed concept: ‘Sustainable Happiness’. Similarly to its predecessors this new notion involves a series of guidelines for the creation and definition of measures that can be used through development to reduce misery and increase happiness and well-being as both a personal and a collective experience.

Cette thèse s'intéresse à la construction du Concept de Soi (CDS) en situation d'enseignement d'Education Physique et Sportive (EPS). L'objectif de ce travail doctoral est de mettre en évidence différents antécédents du CDS mais également d'envisager le rôle que joue le CDS dans sa propre formation et évolution. La théorie de la vérification de soi (Swann, 1990) insiste en effet sur le rôle actif du CDS dans le maintien et la recherche de stabilité des visions de soi au cours du temps. Dans une série de 6 études, nous envisageons différents modèles de la formation du CDS développés en contexte scolaire (i.e., modèle d'ordre causal, modèle Interne/Externe, modèle « Gros poisson – Petit Bassin », travaux sur les choix de cibles de comparaison) dans une matière physique et « secondaire », l'EPS. Plusieurs modulateurs des différentes antécédents du CDS relatifs à ces modèles sont également envisagés (e.g., le sexe de l'élève, le niveau de pratique, le degré d'autodétermination de l'élève). Enfin, les postulats de la théorie de la vérification de soi sont interrogés au regard de l'influence du CDS de l'élève sur (1) les perceptions des autrui significatifs (i.e., l'enseignant), (2) le traitement et la perception des feedback reçus, et (3) l'utilisation des stratégies de présentation de soi, dès lors que la situation met en danger la stabilité de ce construit.

This research was triggered by the need to assist first year students in a way which had not been addressed by the people involved with the upliftment of disadvantaged students. The aspect which was addressed was the personal growth of the adult learner within the academic situation with consideration of his own personal circumstances and ideals. This means that a micro level approach was generated by creating the Academic Enhancement Programme (AEP). The purpose of the programme is to give adult learners the opportunity to understand themselves and their own value systems better on a micro, meso and macro level, to experience personal growth or self-actualisation and to see how these factors influence the adult learners' interaction with the tertiary academic situation. Eight possible value systems were discussed and introduced to the adult learners who participated in the Academic Enhancement Programme. The adult learners were given the opportunity to measure themselves against the value systems and to evaluate how these influenced their realistic academic self-actualisation. The psycho-andragogical categories were utilised during the application of the programme as criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of the programme. The following recommendations were made • the creation of a faculty specific induction programme • linking study packages directly to the context of adult learners • organising personal academic contact • giving personal academic support • making the evaluation procedures transparent • creating and supporting informal study groups Although the study has certain limitations, it should be of great value to the university system during the transformation phase that it is experiencing at present. The main aim of the study is, however, the contribution to the academic growth of the adult learner in the tertiary situation
Hierdie navorsing het ontstaan vanuit die behoefte om eerstejaarstudente op 'n bepaalde wyse te ondersteun. Hierdie wyse is nog nie aangespreek deur mense wat met benadeelde studente gewerk het nie. Die aspek wat ondersoek is, is die persoonlike groei wat volwasse leerders ervaar binne die akademiese situasie met inagneming van hulle eie persoonlike omstandighede en ideale. Dit het beteken dat daar deur middel van 'n mikrobenadering 'n Akademiese Verrykingsprogram geskep moes word. Die doel van die program is drievoudig: Dit meet aan volwasse leerders die geleentheid bied om hulleself en hulle waardesisteme beter te verstaan in 'n mikro-, meso- en makroverband; om persoonlike groei I selfaktualisering te ervaar en om tot die besef te kom dat hierdie aangeleenthede hulle interaksie met die tersiere akademiese situasie be'invloed. Agt verskillende waardesisteme is bespreek en aan die volwasse leerders wat aan die Akademiese Verrykingsprogram deelgeneem het, voorgehou. Die volwasse leerders het die geleentheid gekry om hulself aan hierdie waardesisteme te meet. Hulle kon ook in die loop van die program vasstel hoe dit hulle realistiese akademiese selfaktualisering be'invloed. Die psigo-andragogiese kategoriee is tydens die toepassing van die program as kriteria gebruik om die effektiwiteit van die program te bepaal. Die volgende aanbevelings is gemaak: • dat 'n fakulteit-spesifieke induksieprogram geskep meet word, • dat studiepakkette direk aan die volwasse leerder se verwysingsraamwerk gekoppel meet word, • dat persoonlike akademiese ondersteuning gebied meet word, • dat persoonlike kontak op akademiese gebied bewerkstellig moet word, • dat evalueringsprosedures deursigtig gemaak meet word, • dat informele studiegroepe tot stand gebring en onderhou meet word. Alhoewel die studie aan verskeie beperkings onderhewig is, behoort dit vir die universiteitswese tydens die huidige transformasiegebeure van groot waarde te wees. Die belangrikste doel van die navorsing is egter die bydrae wat dit kan lewer tot die akademiese groei van die volwasse leerder in die tersiere situasie.
