Full textThe theme of governance and development for harmony in the Republic of Benin (1960-2010) allows us to understand that failures to the union or unit in Benin are already sprains to the unification. The Beninese has never managed to be sincere towards each other. The games of betrayal that existed between them since the days when the horrors of royal wars marked negatively all the warring parties have survived to modern times. And is the lack of mutual forgiveness for a sincere reconciliation which causes the tripped governance concerted and consistent in our country. This is a source of political and social instability. She developed behaviors that are tribal and ethnic mutate into excessive individualism among citizens albeit are the types of political regimes that we have achieved. However, no economy can prosper if it is against the true sense of fairness. This causes the underdevelopment of the Republic of Benin. The classical theories of economics ("growth first, then redistribution" of Lewis) fail. These so-Called extremists ("Redistribution first, then growth") fail as well as those covered by the models reformist ("distribution and redistribution or satisfaction of basic human needs ").We must therefore describe the prospects for improving the quality of human resources, economics, form of governance ... for harmony for the presidential term 2011-2016 and possible consequences of governance in the Republic of Benin

Full textThe British and French aeronautical industries started research on a supersonic liner around 1956. The two governments reached an agreement in 1962. The two industries would jointly build the first commercial supersonic jetliner in the world. Because the U. S. Was dominating the world aircraft industry, the Concorde was considered a political, economical, technical, commercial threat by the American media (Aviation Week and Space Technology, the New York Times, Time, Newsweek, Fortune, Business Week, U. S. News and World Report). From 1962 until 1966, the journalists did their best so that the American administration would accelerate the supersonic program. From 1967 until 1971, environmental groups succeeded in lobbing the press: the anti-supersonic protest movement expanded through the media and the U. S. When the American supersonic program was abandoned in 1971, the press concentrated its ecological campaign on the Concorde so that the plane would be prohibited in the U. S
Gravel, Martin.
Full textAt the start of the 9th Century, the Carolingians intended to unite Western Europe in the Christian faith and cult. This ideal was central to the emperors’ thoughts, who considered themselves protectors, legislators and judges, even claiming to be the vicars of Christ and rectors of the Church’s institutions. Such ambitions led to the development of an original form of government. Since the conquests had composed a large mosaic of populations, cultures and interests, maintaining concord became a major difficulty for the Carolingian government. In rising to this challenge, Charlemagne and Louis the Pious made communications their foremost political tool. With inventiveness and efficiency they used communications as best they could, but it was not enough to establish long lasting unity : discordances built up where they were unable to maintain strong relations with the regional élite. Distances and means of communications determined the nature and limits of the exchanges between the political center and its peripheries, thus orienting the destiny of the Empire. This study tackles a wide variety of sources, including diplomas, capitularies, correspondences, coins... Among other things, it investigates the relations of the imperial government with the southwestern part of the Empire. The results are supported by a series of inquiries touching on representations of political authority, network studies, sociopolitical consequences of geographical distance and speed of communication, anthropological complexities of encounters and long-distance relations. Beyond the history of the 8th and 9th Centuries, it illustrates the necessity of approaching pre-modern political realities through the lens of geographical distances, meetings and communications.

Full textA prolific writer, Alexandre Hardy [15??-1632] has dominated French theatre for about thirty years, providing the first professional companies with their repertoire. This dissertation studies his work as one of a professional poet, who had to make matters easier for the actors and to arouse the interest of the audience of the first urban theatres. These professional requirements account for the invention of scenes of violence which appear repeatedly, albeit with some variation, throughout the tragedies, tragi-comedies and pastorals published between 1623 and 1628. Critics have long considered such a use of pathos as a concession made to popular taste. In fact, it takes part in the creation of a theatre of the Public which, through the evidence and emotional impact of violent representation, leads the spectators to question the meaning of the community they form. I have first put into light how, in theoretical writings dealing with the problem of staging violence, such a poetical choice was related to the aethetics of marvel [meraviglia]. I have then studied the poetics and rhetoric of violence in Alexandre Hardy’s plays and shown that theatrical pathos summoned the spectators as witnesses of the action performed on stage, giving sense to their reunion. Finally I have related the search for collective emotions to a conception of urban theater which was still vivid at the end of the Renaissance – theatre as a place where spectators experimented concord. Thus Alexandre Hardy’s work reveals the ambitions and mutations of urban theatre at the beginning of the seventeenth century

Full textWhile the Pax Romana was at its height under the reign of the Antonins, the political ideology of "concord" blossomed in the Greek world, as is attested to by the epigraphic, iconographic, numismatic, and literary documents of the period. The purpose of this thesis is to study the ways in which the Greek orators defended or celebrated the ideology of "concord". The first part consists of a study of the vocabulary and usages of homonoia in relation to its synonyms and antonyms. The second part consists of a detailed analysis of the major discourses of Dio and Aelius Aristides exhorting "concord". The third part studies the close link between the praise of "concord" and its ideology as well as the philosophical and political models of "concord", and is concluded in the final part by a study of historical and literary references in several discourses on "concord". Two definitions of "concord" exist, one common, the other philosophic : (1) a relationship based on feelings or opinions ; (2) a relationship based on the desire to defend the common good by respecting all parties present. "Concord" in the Greek world is based on sharing a common culture that allows one to recognize himself in the other, while "concord" between Greeks and Romans emphasizes a respect of the other's differences and the recognition of the other's identity. Cosmological "concord", however, erases any difference between Greeks and Romans, both being equally dominated by divine authority. Finally, a new political conception of "concord" is created : "concord" is no longer based on the Greek-Roman distinction, but on one between those Greeks and Romans who are pepaideumenoi and occupy high positions, and those who don't

Full textIn this work, we are exploring what we call "the minimum de gree of contextuality in urbanism" with the study of two contrasted projects, both built on a "tabula rasa" : the Plan Voisin in Paris (Le Corbusier, 1925) and the Concorde housing district in Lille (Le Maresquier, 1954). The texts and the figures are studied first from the point of view of their history and then of their "stating scene". We show how the rules for a "treatise on urbanism" (Plan Voisin) or the rules for an "architectural contest's file" (Concorde) are stating both project's contextuality. Tools are set up for the analysis of figures, And, beyond differences, a comon contextuality appears which is anticipating the inadequation between the project and the place it's located on. This is achived by creating an "infralieu", meaning a virtual middle course issued by the figuration, after a discreet process of avoiding, transfering and reversing selected aspects of the place chosen for the project

Abstract In this dissertation, we develop and defend a universal theory of concord (i.e. feature sharing between a head noun and the modifying adjectives). When adjectives in a language show concord with the noun they modify, concord morphology usually involves the full set of features of that noun (e.g. gender, number and case). However, there are also languages in which concord targets only a subset of morphosyntactic features of the head noun. We first observe that feature combinations that enter into concord in such languages are not random. We then show that this observation can be explained with a theory of concord that has the following properties: (i) concord is obligatory whenever phasal domains are inactive (the obligatoriness claim) and (ii) languages that lack concord have a phasal Noun Phrase (the phase claim). We provide evidence supporting these claims. The obligatoriness claim leads to two predications: (1) idiosyncratic gender languages are gender concord languages and (2) languages with pluralia tantum nouns are plural concord languages. We show that these predictions are empirically supported. The phase claim implies that a language lacks overt manifestation of concord only if it has a phasal NP. We show that, due to the phasal status of NP, non-concord languages exhibit the following properties: (1) AP movement out of NP is not possible, (2) the Num head need not be obligatory in the extended projection of a noun (leading to number neutrality) and (3) nominal inflectional elements can be shared between coordinated nouns. We provide evidence supporting these claims.

Full textShakespeare, in his final plays, dramatically deals with the theme of reunion, reconciliation and forgiveness. Shakespeare, through a new dramatic approach, also shows how a man regains his former state of affairs in life in perfect harmony. This phenomenon, which was present at the initial stage in all his final plays, has been lost, because of some evil or misdeeds. Here Shakespeare demonstrates how this lost harmony has been regained in each play through a circular pattern of movement. In all his final works, the playwright presents two different groups of people in two different worlds: evil-doers, in a sophisticated or naturel world and innocent people in a pastoral world. In the natural world, at the beginning, there are parents and children. Because of the parents’ evil deeds, the children have been separated. The former remains in the natural world to suffer and repent and the latter, the innocent, who are the victims of the former, have been brought up, at the same time, in the pastoral world. At the end, the parents, in their redeemed state, meet their children to be in harmony with them. Shakespeare presents the same process in all his final plays: "the winter's tale, "the tempest" and "Cymbeline", through h a well-organized family. In each play, the story begins in a harmonious royal family with all its family members. Disputes and conflicts, because of the passion, pride, lusts etc. . . Break this harmonious atmosphere, causing the eventual separation of the children from the family. The separated members of this royal family find themselves in different social surroundings. The parents are in their courtly residence, with the exception of "the tempest", and the children are in a primitive milieu or in a pastoral environment

This thesis focuses on concord structures found in Western Armenian. I label a structure as concord if two morphemes found in the same clause bear the same feature, yet only result in one semantic interpretation of that feature. The main focus of the thesis is that of negative concord in Western Armenian. Other concord phenomena are also examined: complementizer and additive concord. I draw a parallel between all of these structures, demonstrating that they can be analyzed using the same system of Agreement of the relevant features. A striking similarity between all these concord structures is the optionality of the morphemes involved. Negative morphemes, complementizer heads, and additive markers are optional in Western Armenian. These concord structures bring about some issues regarding head directionality. Western Armenian is a generally head-final language. Certain domains exhibit both head-initial and head-final possible structures. These are found in the complementizers and the adpositions of the language. The complementizer phrases (CPs) which contain more than one morpheme bearing the same feature, are comprised of one head final and one head initial morpheme. Either can be uttered without the other being realized, and both are possible in the same clause as well. Variation, in this case with regards to head direction, is usually studied across multiple languages or across phrase types within a single language; however, WA is a language where variation is seen within the same type of phrase. Western Armenian gives us insights into systems that usually only show one setting in any given language. In analyzing these novel patterns of variability I argue that unique stress and prosodic properties help me unlock these puzzles.

Full textThe purpose of this dissertation is to study the influences of the norm on the representations of friendship and its practice in France during the 16th and the 17th centuries. The corpus draws aside both intellectuals and women to focus on the non-enclosed people. How two individuals are able to make friends with each other in the 16th and 17th centuries within a society itself thought in terms of friendship? This dissertation divides in two volumes. The first one is devoted to the study itself. The philosophical inheritance is presented, along with considerations on bonds linking the friend, the society, the couple and the family during the Modern Times. Questions of linguistics are also raised. The evolution of a friendship between two men is followed step by step from birth to death, as if it were a genuine living organism. Gestures and tokens of friendship are the bases of friendship. The latter is always endangered by the fragile balance between the social demands and the requirements of friendship. In the second volume are presented the methodology used to gather the documentary corpus, as well as our historical sources and bibliography. Reasons why women were excluded from our research work make the core of a specific chapter

_______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This dissertation seeks to contribute with the sociolinguistic studies in the description of the linguistic uses that make part of eminently Brazilian language, based on empirical and real data. Among such uses, it studies the construction called “synthetic passives” by traditional scholars. The corpus for the realization of the research is composed by written texts more monitorated of the argumentative gender written by Portuguese teachers, from Distrito Federal and Goiás (Brazil) and Letters students from University of Brasília. The present study makes a brief diachronic evolution course of the pronoun SE uses till arriving to its modern use such as – this is the point here defended – the clause subject, that has by consequence the non-agreement between the verb and the nominal phrase (NP), traditionally classified as the subject clause that, really, is identified as the clause object by Brazilian Portuguese native speakers. The unindetermining use of the pronoun SE is a variant more identified with escolarization, being the rare agreement between the verb and NP, even in constructions with direct transitive verbs, fruit of the pressure by the knowledge of the main norm. Besides this, this research also contemplates phenomena linked to use of the pronoun SE as indefinite pronoun of indeterminated reference: the erasement of the pronoun in finite clauses and its insertion in nonfinite ones besides of the weakness of the agreement of Brazilian Portuguese flexible paradigm, its orientation to the topic and fulfillment more and more obligatory of the position of the subject. The results of this research constitute in empiric evidences to the inclusion of the SE subject among the strategics that are at the disposal of the speakers when they need to express the indetermination of the agent.

Full textBorn with Rome, but taken some of its traits from the Greek idea of homonoia, it's under the republic that the notion of Concordia was really put forward. At that time, the more political meaning of unity of factious parties or chiefs to assume power or to put a stop to the civil or external war is preferred to the etymological meaning of "having the same feelings". This notion, close by these of fides, pax or felicitas is rapidly deified and pictured, at first on the coins. It's in that case a female face with a laurel wreath or a veil. However, it is under the Roman Empire that the story of Concordia and its representations got its greatest expansion. First of all, it's the coins that reveal them, sometimes sculptured monuments, less often the paintings or the glyptics. From that time onwards, we can discern the two great meaning of Concordia that are illustrated by various representations: - the concord, divine virtue, inherent in the emperor and his wife, of which they incarnate the blessings that they distribute. It's the sacrificing type of Concordia holding patera and cornucopia, or other at- tributes when the idea of concord is connected with these of hope, peace, felicity, victory. . . - the concord, good feelings between people, that it must be two to realize and that hand-shake between two persons or the symbolical picture of two right hands joined represent. So, these representations that can belong to political, family or military fields, combine with themselves, are increased in multivarious details and give a complex image of this notion. Besides, present all the roman history long, they illustrate in their own way some aspects of the roman politics and mentality
