The Sixth Bahamas Conference on Financial Crime, co-hosted by the Central Bank of The Bahamas and the Inter-American Development Bank in January 2025, brought together over 390 participants, both in-person and online, including policymakers, regulators, academics, private sector professionals, and representatives from regional and international institutions. The conference featured research papers, grouped into five thematic blocks: the overall effectiveness of anti-money laundering (AML) frameworks; the role of big data and new technologies; applied insights from regulators and compliance pro

This report summarizes and synthesizes OpenSciEd research published as of August 2022, addressing two questions about OpenSciEd: (1) To what extent do teachers enact OpenSciEd units with integrity to its distinctive principles? and (2) To what extent do OpenSciEd teacher tools and professional learning experiences support teachers to enact OpenSciEd with integrity? This review includes 16 publications (journal articles, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, conference papers, doctoral dissertations, and published reports). Five of the papers focus on the design of OpenSciEd materials and do no

Presented at the Second Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis Recent research in applications of entropy theory to matrix balancing problems in eco-nomics has put powerful new tools in the hands of data base developers, but overshadowed some previous findings. We recall earlier findings that the RAS is an entropy-theoretic model. Investigating the properties of a more recently proposed entropy-theoretic model, we find that in general the RAS remains preferable. We show further that the RAS can be obtained also as a generalised cross-entropy model. Finally, we present examples illus-tra

This document describes the efforts of the Department of Labor of Rio de Janeiro to build a comprehensive institutional framework focused on the promotion of a long run, micro-firm based local economic development model and to create a path to sustainable economic growth, job creation and continuous decline of income inequality. The various tools and programs which the DoL has designed to achieve these goals are described, including training and technical assistance, access to technology and microcredit, among others. Abstract:
Academic work is characterised as increasingly time-pressured and deadline-driven. Moreover, increased use of online tools underpins flexible working hours. Does this make researchers work just before a deadline or a meeting (perceived as an intermediate deadline)? The "imminent deadline-driven work habit" hypothesis seems intuitively plausible since the research and academic world is notorious for heavy workloads and multiple parallel tasks and projects. The current article investigates the activity of several collaborative online documents from international building research projects as a f
