Abstract:
Among the private diaries of Vatican ii, those of Yves M.J. Congar (1904–95) and Henri de Lubac (1896–1991) are undoubtedly the most important. The aim of this article is to assess the significance of Congar’s My Journal of the Council in order to draw attention to its significant influence in the on-going reception of the Vatican ii, and to the perennial challenge of reform in the Church. Congar was one of the most prominent of the ressourcement theologians, associated principally with the Jesuits of Lyon-Fourvière and the Dominicans of Le Saulchoir, Paris. Their influence pervaded French society and theology in the period 1930–1960, and beyond, and inspired a renaissance in Catholic thought. The article assesses Congar’s role in that renaissance, as well as his immense participation in the elaborate work of the Council, not least his involvement with the Belgian theologians with whom he formed a strategic liaison.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTIn the last decade a number of publications have appeared regarding the life and work of the French Dominican Yves Congar. The present essay presents the “young Congar” of the 1930s, in particular his vision of what Catholic theology should be. The author defends the thesis that it is Congar who initiated the “program” of (the first phase of) the so-called nouvelle théologie (“new theology”). After a general survey of the central features of the nouvelle théologie and its development, the author gives an overview of the three ways in which Congar is to be understood its pioneer and representative.

Abstract:
Yves Congar’s and Hans Küng’s modes of participation at Vatican II reflect different visions of ecclesial reform. Congar followed an ‘inside’ path, working on the conciliar commissions that produced Vatican II’s documents; Küng chose an ‘outside’ path, pursuing his own writing projects and engaging the mass-media. Their choice of differing paths was neither arbitrary nor merely temperamental, but cohered in both instances with substantial theologies of reform. Attending to the inseparability of the historical-biographical and systematic dimensions of their respective trajectories, this article first examines Congar’s evaluation of his own role at the Council and of the roles of other participants, as witnessed by his conciliar journal spanning the years 1960 to 1966. The article then does likewise for Küng, drawing primarily upon his memoirs. It concludes by comparing their paths of reform and addressing the implications of their differences.

Abstract:
The Second Vatican Council was not only a meeting of bishops from around the world, it was also an assembly of theologians. Prominent among those gathered were the Dominican theologian Yves Congar and the Jesuit theologian Karl Rahner. Both offered a positive theology of grace outside of Christianity, an embrace of true inculturation within the church, and both saw the council as a beginning in opening up the church to theological variety appropriate to become a global presence in a new era. During the council, Congar and Rahner worked together, developed a friendship, and found that they had harmonious theological perspectives that allowed them to become valuable allies in shaping the final outcome of the council.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is analyse the Council Vatican II reception, suggested by Yves Congar, Bernard Sesboüe and Christoph Theobald, however since the Hans Robert Jauss aesthetic reception theory. And how it is into the continuous labor of the Ecclesial reform. The council receptions are theological language construct processes that reaches turning points. This is the case between the pastoral style by Latin American Theology and the aesthetic theological, by Hans Urs von Balthasar, the turning point of the post-conciliar theological debates, that being received and reworked at the Latin American Espicopal General Conference and the Caribbean.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTYves Congar, O.P. (1904–1995) is widely considered the most important Roman Catholic ecclesiologist of the twentieth century and one of the most influential theologians at the Second Vatican Council. His personal diaries Journal d'un théologien 1946–1956 and Mon journal du Concile, recently published posthumously in France, enhance our appreciation for the character and spirituality of this extraordinary theologian. These journals testify to the passion for truth that inspired and sustained Congar's theological vocation through both his difficult years of censure and the exhilarating conciliar period. The witness and example Congar offers can be instructive to our own continuing practice of the theological discipline.

The theme of this article takes us to the field of ecumenical theology understood as a dialogue between theologians from particular Christian traditions. These theologians relate through their common roots in Scripture and early Christian heritage, but they interpret these roots in their own particular way. In our case the focus will be on the German Lutheran theologian Paul Tillich (1886–1965), the Russian Orthodox theologian George Florovsky (1893–1979), and the French Catholic theologian Yves Congar (1904–1995), who all, at one time, shared the same premises, though not necessarily the same opinions.
