Abstract:
Following the pioneering work of Allenby and Ginter (1995) and Lenk et al.(1994); we propose in Section 2 a mixed effect model allowing for fixed and random effects as possible statistical solution to the problems mentioned above. Parameter estimation using a new, efficient variant of a Markov Chain Monte Carlo method will be discussed in Section 3 together with problems of model comparison techniques in the context of random effect models. Section 4 presents an application of the former to a brand-price trade-off study from the Austrian mineral water market. (author's abstract)<br>Series: For

In this paper we head for a fully Bayesian analysis of the latent class model with a priori unknown number of classes. Estimation is carried out by means of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods. Joint Bayesian estimation of all latent variables, model parameters, and parameters determining the probability law of the latent process is carried out by a new MCMC method called permutation sampling. Abstract:
This paper presents the fully Bayesian analysis of the latent class model using a new approach towards MCMC estimation in the context of mixture models. The approach starts with estimating unidentified models for various numbers of classes. Exact Bayes' factors are computed by the bridge sampling estimator to compare different models and select the number of classes. Estimation of the unidentified model is carried out using the random permutation sampler. From the unidentified model estimates for model parameters that are not class specific are derived. Ability to measure value from the customer's point of view is central to the determination of market offerings: Customers will only buy the equivalent of perceived value, and companies can only offer benefits that cost less to provide than customers are willing to pay. Conjoint analysis is the most popular individual-level value measurement method to determine relative impact of product or service attributes on preferences and other dependent variables. This research focuses on how value measurement can be made more accurate and more reliable by measuring the relative influence of selected met

Widespread car usage of around 800 million of cars travelling 30 billion of kilometres on a daily basis has led to many benefits but also to significant environmental and societal impacts such as congestion, air and noise pollution and urban sprawl. This thesis aims to investigate the stakeholder values of car parking in order to support and inform the decision makers who are tasked with how best to resolve challenging car parking dilemmas. A two phase progressive methodology is involved. Phase one begins with conducting a series of in-depth semi-structured interviews with eight academics to i
