Abstract:
The objective of this paper is to investigate the existence of the Feldstein and Horioka puzzle in transition countries, divided into three groups of countries: South-East Europe (SEE), Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Central to this puzzle is the ? coefficient, which measures the relationship between domestic savings and investment. In their seminal paper from 1980 Feldstein and Horioka estimated a value of the ? coefficient close to 1, which in their opinion indicates low capital mobility as opposed to the theory and the conventional wisdom of perfect capital mobility. We use annual data for the period 1991-2010 and panel cointegration econometric technique to examine this relationship in three panels of countries (SEE, CEE, and CIS). We find that the puzzle of Feldstein and Horioka exists in all three panels, but the connection between savings and investment is generally lower than 1. As we move towards a panel composed of the larger and richer countries the value of the ? coefficient increases. Moreover, the coefficient of adjustment of the disequilibrium between domestic savings and investment is positive in all cases, indicating that any imbalance between savings and investment is not corrected immediately.

Abstract:
We show that the OPAL opacities, in addition to explaining the origin of β Cep stars pulsations, also predict existence of a large region in the Main Sequence band at lower luminosities, where high-order g-modes of low harmonic degrees, l, are unstable. The excitation mechanism remains the same and is due to the usual κ-effect acting in the metal opacity bump (T ≈ 2 × 105K). The new instability domain nearly bridges the gap in spectral types between δ Set and β Cep stars. Periods of unstable modes are in the range 0.4–3.5 days for l = 1 and l = 2. We propose that this excitation mechanism causes photometric variability in the Slowly Pulsating B-type stars (SPB stars, Waelkens 1991) and perhaps in other B stars whose variability in the same period range has been reported.

Chen, Wei. "A Decadal Weakening in the Connection between ENSO and the Following Spring SST over the Northeast Tropical Atlantic after the Mid-1980s." Journal of Climate 35, no. 9 (2022): 2867–81. http://dx.doi.org/10.1175/jcli-d-21-0698.1.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract The north tropical Atlantic (NTA) displays significant sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTA) during the ENSO decaying spring. This study identifies a largely weakened impact of ENSO on the SSTA concentrated over the northeast tropical Atlantic (NETA) after the mid-1980s, while the impacts on the SSTA over the northwest tropical Atlantic (NWTA) are stable during the whole period. Different SST datasets can recognize this weakened connection between ENSO and the NETA SSTA, suggesting the robustness in this decadal variation. The El Niño–related teleconnections shift westward after the mid-1980s, and thus the anomalous southwesterly, leading to the positive NTA SSTA via the wind–evaporation–SST feedbacks, is restricted over the NWTA without extending eastward. As a result, the positive SSTA rises only over the NWTA but is diminished over the NETA. The regime shift in these circulation anomalies is due to the westward shift in the El Niño–induced convection and circulation anomalies from the eastern equatorial Pacific (EEP) to the central equatorial Pacific (CEP). Further analysis indicates that the intensified zonal SST gradient over the equatorial Pacific leads to a westward shift of Pacific Walker circulation after the mid-1980s. The westward shift of Walker circulation contributes to the convergent circulation anomalies over the CEP and thus results in the El Niño–induced precipitation anomalies concentrated there. Significance Statement Previous studies have indicated a positive connection between ENSO and the succeeding spring SSTA over the north tropical Atlantic (NTA), and this connection tends to be unstable. This study identifies a decadal weakening in the connection between ENSO and the SSTA actually concentrated over the northeast part of tropical Atlantic (NETA) after the mid-1980s. Further analysis indicates that the decadal changes in the ENSO–NETA connection are due to the westward shift in the ENSO-related convection and teleconnections, resulting from the westward shift of Pacific Walker circulation, induced by the intensified zonal SST gradient over the equatorial Pacific after the mid-1980s. The result implies a decadal change in NTA SSTA structure, which may bring different climate anomalies in the surrounding area.

Abstract:
Introduction. Despite the apparent connection of the existing neurological disorders and changes in the psycho-emotional sphere with sleep disorders in patients with chronic mercury intoxication (CRI), these relationships remain the least studied in the clinic neurointoxications. The study aimed to establish a connection between neurophysiological, biochemical, and psychopathological indicators in patients with occupational chronic mercury intoxication and insomnia. Materials and methods. Thirty-six patients took part in the examination in the remote period of CRI. The average age of patients in this group was 50.7±1.05 years, with an average work experience of 14.7±1.05. The authors carried out a psychological examination to determine the levels of depression, anxiety, asthenic state, computed electroencephalography (EEG), cognitive evoked potentials (CEP), polysomnography, the level of neurotransmitters. Results. The study showed that asthenization, when exposed to mercury, occurs due to a decrease in the limbic-hypothalamo-reticular complex activity (the presence of equivalent dipole sources of pathological activity in the area of diencephalic formations (thalamus, hypothalamus) in 56.2±5.6% of cases. The study showed a decrease in activity cerebral cortex, confirmed by weakening the coherent connections of the α-range in the occipital, central and frontal leads according to the data of coherent EEG analysis and changes on the part of the CEP. There was a direct correlation between the level of total sleep time and the serotonin level (rs=0.45), an inverse relationship between the level of depression and histamine level (rs=-0.56). Conclusion. The studies carried out to make it possible to establish the mechanisms of insomnia disorders in chronic mercury intoxication, which cause a weakening of the tone of the cerebral cortex and changes in neurotransmitter metabolism, as well as disorders of the reticular system with limbic structures. The study showed a close direct relationship between neurophysiological, psychological, and biochemical parameters in implementing insomnia in patients with chronic mercury intoxication.

Abstract:
AbstractWe give a new proof of the Hansen–Mullen irreducibility conjecture. The proof relies on an application of a (seemingly new) sufficient condition for the existence of elements of degree n in the support of functions on finite fields. This connection to irreducible polynomials is made via the least period of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of functions with values in finite fields. We exploit this relation and prove, in an elementary fashion, that a relevant function related to the DFT of characteristic elementary symmetric functions (that produce the coefficients of characteristic polynomials) satisfies a simple requirement on the least period. This bears a sharp contrast to previous techniques employed in the literature to tackle the existence of irreducible polynomials with prescribed coefficients.

The article reveals the features of the toponymic names of M. Auezov's epic novel "The Way of Abai", their history, the connection of names with specific historical events of that period. An attempt is made to perform a linguistic analysis of toponyms, and their statistical analysis is given. The authors emphasize the undoubted connection of place names with the conditions of the people's existence, which can be traced in historical geographical names, the socio-political structure of the state, and the lifestyle of the population. The article provides a classification of toponyms, argued by textual examples, an etymological analysis of some toponyms is carried out.

Abstract:
Photometry of AU Ser, a contact binary in poor thermal contact, was made using the 1-meter reflector of the Yunnan Observatory, China, in 1991, 1992and 1995. Our observations, together with Binnendijk’s (1972), show variations in light curves similar to ones of VW Cep:1)Changes in sign and value of O’Connell effect. According to Binnendijk(1972), the maximum following primary minimum was higher than the other maximum, i.e., the O’Connell effect was positive. In our 1991 and 1992 light curves it became negative. After three years, however, the situation has reversed again.2)Variations of the difference between minimum depths. The difference in 1991 was smaller than that in 1969 and 1970. It got smallest in 1992 and largest in 1995. The difference increases by about 0.3 mag in three years, which is hard to explained.3)The phase shift. The observed minimum phase in 1991, 1992 and 1995 have progressively displaced forward with respect to computed minimum phase according to Binnendijk’s ephemeris. The O-C diagram seems to indicate a sudden decrease of orbital period after 1970. Also, short period oscillations have been found at frequencies of 0.0003, 0.005 and 0.0075 Hz. Flickering. with an average amplitude of about 0.05 mag, can be seen in the light curves. The power spectral analysis suggest the existence of oscillations. It is unusual that such oscillations exist in a contact binary.

Abstract:
In this essay, I explore the Critical Period Hypothesis (CPH) in language acquisition, which suggests the existence of a specific time frame during which humans can achieve native-like fluency in a second language (L2). I begin with a historical overview highlighting the methodological issues and criticism of statistical analysis in CPH studies. I mention two contemporary studies, Hartshorne et al. (2018) and Chen & Hartshorne (2021), which I posit to be good examples of how to respond to statistical critiques. I discuss critiques of CPH research methodology, focusing on issues such as the lack of a clear definition for the critical period (CP), variations in experimental designs, and the effects of the native language on second language acquisition. I propose a hypothesis linking the CP to the development of logical thinking in children and suggest using neuroimaging techniques, i.e., ERP and fMRI, to investigate this connection, drawing on proposals by Krashen (1975) and Rosansky (1975) to connect CPH with the theories of Inhelder & Piaget (1958). In summary, the CPH for language acquisition remains a topic of debate, but recent studies have provided stronger statistical support. I encourage continued research to better understand the CP and its relationship with cognitive development.

Abstract:
Starting from previous analytical results assuring the existence of a saddle-node bifurcation curve of periodic orbits for continuous piecewise linear systems, numerical continuation is done to get some primary bifurcation curves for the piecewise linear Chua's oscillator in certain dimensionless parameter plane. The primary period doubling, homoclinic and saddle-node of periodic orbits' bifurcation curves are computed. A Belyakov point is detected in organizing the connection of these curves. In the parametric region between period-doubling, focus-center-limit cycle and homoclinic bifurcation curves, chaotic attractors coexist with stable nontrivial equilibria. The primary saddle-node bifurcation curve plays a leading role in this coexistence phenomenon.

Abstract:
As a result of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the number of internally displaced persons increased rapidly. Thus, according to the UN International Organization for Migration, in October 2023 they numbered about 3 million 700 people. At the same time, the problem of the quality of life of internally displaced women in the first period of middle age is insufficiently researched. The work method is to assess the connection between physical activity and the quality of life of internally displaced women in the first period of middle age. Research methods – motor activity assessment method (Framingham study method), quality of life assessment method (SF-36 short form questionnaire), statistical analysis. The results. The level of the quality of life of internally displaced women in the first period of middle age, the level of their motor activity, and the connection between them were determined. The existence of a connection between the indicators of the levels of motor activity and individual components of the quality of life of the positive category of the population has been proven, namely: a low correlation (0.26–0.49) between the average level of motor activity and the following indicators of the quality of life: the role of physical. problems in limited life activities, mental health, physical and social activity; average (0.50–0.69) between the average level of motor activity and vitality; negative connection between a low level of physical activity and mental health, vitality, and physical activity. Conclusions. The results indicate a direct positive connection between the level of motor activity and the quality of life of the respondents and provide grounds for further research and development of a program based on the use of health and recreational motor activity to ensure improvement in the quality of life, physical and psycho-emotional state of middle age.

The article primarily deals with a textual connection between two admonitory texts 4QSapiential Admonitions B (4Q185) and 4QAdmonition on the Flood (4Q370). Beside the existence of this connection very little has been done to explore it and even the direction of the influence is still open to question. This connection will be thoroughly analyzed here, in order to appreciate fully its importance for understanding the purpose of the fragmentary individual texts and the applied editing practices. It will be shown that 4QAdmonition on the Flood was one of the main sources used in the composition of 4QSapiential Admonitions B that was radically edited (e. g., additions, omissions and recontextualizing) and combined with Proverbial wisdom traditions. The purpose of this editorial activity was to create a synthesis out of the more traditional wisdom thinking and the Torah-oriented deuteronomic parenesis, as was also done by, for example, Ben Sira in his own wisdom composition around the same time period.

In this work a complete study of 359 solar flares, 111 Halo coronal mass ejections (Halo CMEs) and 45 Partial Halo events occurred from November 2000 to November 2003, is considered. This time period characterized by an unexpected activity of the Sun, was divided into 27-day intervals starting from Bartels Rotation No. 2284 (14.10.2000) to No. 2324 (25.11.2003), generating diagrams of the cosmic ray intensity data recorded at the Athens Neutron Monitor Station. On these qualitative data presented for the first time, a mapping of all available solar and interplanetary events, such as solar flares with importance C, M and X, coronal mass ejections (Halo and Partial) was done. The existence of a connection between solar flares with CMEs and the respective connection to the Forbush effects on yearly and monthly basis are discussed. The role of extreme solar events occurred in March-April 2001 and in October-November 2003 is also considered.

Abstract In this study, the existence of reading difficulties (RD) among young adults and the relation between RD, cognitive abilities and length of service period were examined. The aim was to study the manifestation of reading difficulties with young adult males, the connection between different cognitive abilities and reading comprehension and decoding skills, and to determine whether the membership of different reading skills groups was related to the length of the service period, which is partly dependent on the scores of cognitive assessment in military service, Basic Test 1. The participants in this study (N=1399) were Finnish adolescents (mean age 20 years, sd .61) participating in compulsory military service. Every Finnish male citizen is obligated to undergo military service and because RD is more common in males than females, warfare becomes more technological and military training is increasingly based on written material that requires reading skills, it is very reasonable to study RD with persons in military service. Results showed that reading difficulties persist into adulthood, but some regional differences were found, and reading difficulties (especially decoding difficulties) had only a minor direct connection to the length of the service period.

Introduction. The article analyzes the semantics of the tree-like figures of the traditional female costume. The purpose of the work is to determine the origins of this image in the Udmurt ornamentation. Materials and Methods. The work uses the method of structural-semiotic analysis, allowing to consider costume ornament as a sign-symbolic system. Results and Discussion. The two prototypes that arose back in the period of the formation of human mentality: a woman and a totemic beast, formed the basis of the mythopoetic symbol of the world tree. Complex of Udmurt vorshud concentrated and preserved the echoes of the most ancient cult of a female – progenitor, endowed with a totem name. Each Udmurt clan had its own vorshud name. This name was associated with a natural totem, belonged to women of the clan, and passed down from generation to generation through the female line. A vorshud name was given to the ancestral territory, and its sacred center – vorshud in the sanctuary of kua. Vorshud demonstrates two key ideas of the world tree: connection and continuity of generations and the center of ancestral territory. Conclusion. During the study, the connection between the tree symbols of the costume ornament with the cult of Udmurt vorshud and the symbolism of the world tree was revealed. Therefore, it reveals the origins and semantics of wooden symbols in the Udmurt costume ornament.

Abstract:
A possible relationship between solar activity and the seismic activity of the Earth is considered. We analyzed the frequency of occurrence of earthquakes of various magnitudes with the Fourier transform: for M ≥ 7 over the period 1900—2019 and for 2.5 ≤ M ≤ 7 over the period 1973–2019. The average annual, monthly, and daily values of the solar-terrestrial variables, the number of earthquakes with intensities that fall within the specified boundaries are calculated. The epoch overlapping method was used to analyze the possible relationship between the Wolf numbers and the number of earthquakes at the corresponding moment in the cycle. 4 periods of each solar cycle were identified: the phase of ascending, maximum, descending, and minimum. Earthquakes over the entire globe and in the regions of extension and compression of the earth's crust were analyzed for each phase. No statistically significant dependencies between solar-terrestrial variables and earthquake initiation were found for all time intervals and all selected earthquake magnitudes. An interesting fact was established concerning the change in the number of earthquakes at different periods of the day. The number of earthquakes in the nighttime appreciably increases (by ~ 10 %) compared to the daytime. A slight increase in the number of earthquakes after local noon was also detected. We could not confirm the existence of a direct connection between solar activity and the seismic activity of the Earth, but we cannot also claim that such a connection does not exist.

Abstract:
The essence and subject matter of fiction in the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely fiction in the legislative structure of exemption from criminal responsibility in connection with the expiry of limitations period are analyzed in the article. The analysis of normative-legal acts, scholars’ views on the problem of fictitious norms is carried out. In particular, the author provides a description and analyzes the legislative structure of exemption from criminal responsibility in connection with the expiry of limitations period in the Criminal Codes of such foreign countries as: Poland, France, Germany. Based on the positive foreign experience, it is proposed to amend Article 49 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with a new part 7 as follows: “The limitations period starts to be calculated from the moment of expiration. If the consequence that is a part of the act occurs later, the limitations period begins from this point”. It is mentioned that the exemption from criminal responsibility is an independent criminal and legal institution. However, its legal quintessence has the following features: since the de jure exemption does not result in the conviction of a person who has committed a criminal offense, such a person avoids the adverse criminal consequences that this person has as a result of the conviction. It is clarified that the essence of the legislative structure of exemption from criminal responsibility in connection with the expiry of limitations period has a controversial nature in the science of Ukraine’s criminal law. The view according to which the basis of existence in criminal law of institute of prescription is loss of public danger of the committed act remains actual. It is concluded that the fiction in the legislative structure of exemption from criminal responsibility in connection with the expiry of limitations period is expressed in the limitation of time limits of criminal responsibility with the law on criminal responsibility. The Criminal Code of Ukraine denies the criminal and legal significance of the committed act and its consequences outside the time limits of criminal responsibility. This lack of correspondence between the real facts and their legal consolidation is a fiction of the institution of prescription. Key words: expiry of limitations period, fiction, exemption from criminal responsibility, legislator, criminal offense.

Abstract:
This article considers the state policy towards the transformation of higher education in Russia on the example of universities in the Republic of Dagestan. Higher education in the Republic of Dagestan in the 21st century has passed a period of profound changes, and there are still disputes about the ways of domestic education further development, forms and methods of increasing its competitiveness in the world educational market. In these disputes, the key element remains the assessment of Soviet educational standards and the historical heritage of Soviet higher education. At the beginning of the 1990s, higher education in the Republic was, on the one hand, a fully developed system of education, in terms of quantitative and qualitative indicators. On the other hand, it was characterized by conservatism, narrow specialization, dogmatism, isolation from the constantly changing needs of society and the economy, and standardness. These shortcomings were already evident at the end of the Soviet period of Russian history. One of the important components of the policy of acceleration and perestroika proclaimed by M. S. Gorbachev and his colleagues became the attempt to carry out a deep transformation of higher education, giving it flexibility and a strong connection with the urgent needs of the national economy. The study of higher education policy in 1986-1990 is relevant today as an example of the first conscious attempt by the political leadership to transform higher education in the direction of serving the interests of the changing economic system. The positive and negative elements of the experience of 1986-1990 should help in shaping and implementing higher school reform in our time.

One of Islamic thinkers who are not a few of their work and thoughts and their existence in the scientific world, especially History and Philosophy, certainly has a connection with his thoughts on Islamic Education, although in a not large portion. That the style and thought of Science in the classical period, the middle period, until the modern period is always influenced by the bearer. From here comes a very varied thinking, along with thoughts that are not the same as its predecessor. Ibn Khaldun is a prominent figure in Islamic education. Ibn Khaldun's view of education, differs from Al-Ghazali's opinion in particular regarding the purpose of education. According to Al-Ghazali the aim of Islamic Education is only to get closer to God, while Ibn Khaldun argues that the goal of Islamic Education has been developed by obtaining good fortune.

Abstract:
The present paper considers a class of financial market with transaction costs and constructs a geometric no-arbitrage analysis frame. Then, this paper arrives at the fact that this financial market is of no-arbitrage if and only if the curvature 2-form of a specific connection is zero. Furthermore, this paper derives the fact that the no-arbitrage condition for the one-period financial market is equivalent to the geometric no-arbitrage condition. Finally, an example states the equivalence between the geometric no-arbitrage condition and the existence of the solutions for a maximization problem of expected utility.

Abstract:
During the sixty-year period of existence of domestic large-panel housing construction, this type of housing remains the most popular due to its affordability. The transition to flexible technologies for the production of panel buildings makes it possible to create high-quality and comfortable housing. However, there is some return to the construction of panel buildings with flat monotonous expressionless facades. The article describes a method for creating stepped facades using overlay panels of external walls, the connection of decorative external layers in which «overlap» is made. This makes it possible to create stepped facades in a simple technological way, hide part of the vertical seams, increase the output of products, and simplify the achievement of the desired apartment layout. The method is protected by a Eurasian patent. Keywords: stepped exterior panel, overhead exterior panel, «overlap» connection, loop precast-monolithic connections, stepped facade, apartment layouts, multi-hollow plates.

Abstract:
Upon confronting the intellectual crisis spanning the decades of the interwar years, several German philosophers proposed a “new method” to point out the limitation of knowledge derived from the subjective and positivistic methods of philosophy. Martin Heidegger and Karl Jaspers, sympathizers of this viewpoint, were motivated to provide a new voice to the intellectual worldview of the period and, in the process, elevated the level of their contemporary philosophic atmosphere. Their voices reverberated in their respective concepts of Being and Being-in-the world, concepts which encouraged the study of human existence: Existenzphilosophie and Existential Phenomenology. This essay will examine their respective concepts of, being, being-in-the-world, selfhood, existential communication, historicity, and analyze how the family connection of these concepts pertaining to existential phenomenology invite comparisons in their philosophies of human existence to the “dialogical” principle inherent in Buber’s philosophy. Despite Buber’s criticisms, the paper makes an alternative interpretation of Heidegger’s philosophy of human existence, and argues for including the latter, with Jaspers, in the discussion of the “philosophy of dialogue.”

The article deals with the issues of periodization of paper banknotes as an instrument of the financial policy of the state. The purpose of the work is to identify the stages of development and improve the system of paper money circulation from the point of view of institutional theory and chronological approach. For the first time, periodization covers the entire period of the existence of paper money from their appearance under Catherine II to the present day. A feature of this work is that it lists all the issues of paper money carried out on the territory of our state. The features of paper money circulation at each stage of its existence (imperial, transitional, emergency money circulation, Soviet monetary system, modern) are given. The article provides a brief analysis of historiography, indicating a number of works devoted to the problem of research. The connection between the form of existence of paper money and the tasks facing monetary circulation from the point of view of state interests is shown. Some of the author's statements are controversial.

"The paper aims to investigate the nature of the relationship between insolvencies or registrations and the wage cost in Romania. The study uses monthly / annual data covering the period 2014 - October 2019. In order to investigate the short and medium term dynamics of insolvencies, enrolments and the influence of wage costs, the data collected for the mentioned period will be examined, highlighting the causal links between the three concepts at the level of the country as well as in the field of constructions. This study highlights the existence of a relationship between the three variables, but it does not provide certainty regarding the information about the direction and meaning of this causal link. The subject deserves to be investigated from the perspective of the existence of a “long term equilibrium” property, for the pair of registration and insolvency variables. The question we can answer by means of looking for actual relationships is whether there is a connection between the registrations and insolvencies of the entities in a certain field. The result of the study reflects a very similar evolution of the insolvency pairs - insolvencies in the field of construction, registrations - registrations in the field of construction, registrations - insolvencies. Abstract:
Abstract From their early beginnings, around 1260, Sephardic Bibles were illuminated with carpet pages bearing vegetal and geometric patterns associated with mudejar art. In the early literature, the Muslim-like decoration of the biblical codices was regarded as a possible indication for the existence of local schools of Hebrew Bible decoration in Al-Andalus before the reconquista, a period from which no example has survived. In more recent literature, this assumption has been rejected, and the choice of mudejar is interpreted as a new and conscious preference. This article seeks to revisit the phenomenon through a fresh analysis of the emergence of the Sephardic illuminated Bible in Christian Toledo. The discussion reveals the importance of this first stage for an understanding of the whole phenomenon. It exposes the special connection between mudejar art and biblical codices and the cultural and social circumstances in which this connection was first crystallized and turned into a local tradition.

The theory of finite security markets developed by Harrison and Pliska [1] used the separating hyperplane theorem to establish the relationship between the lack of arbitrage opportunities and the existence of a certain martingale measure. In this paper we treat this theory by examining certain geometric properties of the sample paths of the price process, that is, we focus on the price increments of the stocks between one time period to the next and convert them to martingale differences through an equivalent change of measure. Thus, in contrast to Harrison and Pliska&s functional analytic derivation, our approach is based on probabilistic methods and allows a geometric interpretation which not only provides a connection to linear programming but also yields an algorithm for analyzing finite security markets. Moreover, we can make precise the connection between diverse expressions of economic equilibrium such as ‘absence of arbitrage’, ‘martingale property, and ‘complementary slackness property’.

Abstract:
This article concerns three Bulgarian ethnographic maps drafted in the late 19th century – the closing decades of the historical period commonly referred to as the Bulgarian National Revival. The three maps in question belong to Vasil D. Stoyanov (circa 1867), the Chitalishte (a kind of community cultural center) of Tsarigrad (Istanbul) (in 1872), and the Bulgarian Exarchate (in 1876). They all depict the territorial distribution of the ethnic Bulgarian population in the Balkan Peninsula at the time (and in particular within the borders of what was then European Turkey). The maps are yet to be tracked down and published, and it is unclear whether they even survived until present day or not. It is possible they remain archived somewhere outside Bulgaria. The maps were drafted in response to non-Bulgarian publications (in the form of maps, statistics, etc.), which contained significant errors (intentionally or not) in regards to the territorial distribution of the Bulgarian population and its actual numbers. Each map is accompanied by supplementary statistics. The maps played an important role in connection to notable historical figures and events. The goal of this article is to revive the memory of the maps’ existence and give some fresh impetus for their discovery and publication, which would be of enormous benefit.

Abstract:
The behavior of wave propagation, as well that of isolated waves as that of self-sustained activity, in excitable media is characterized by the dispersion relation of the system. For the Belousov–Zhabotinsky (BZ)-reaction as by far the best described system, a number of theoretical considerations and experimental investigations do exist. From the theoretical point of view the dispersion relation of the BZ-reaction has two branches, an upper "fast" or stable branch typified by singular solutions and a lower "slow" branch whose solutions are regular, with a connection between the two branches, defining the smallest possible period and the absolute refractory period of the system. Experimental data are usually located on the upper branch giving higher propagation velocity at increasing period. Only one set of results was published in the early 1970s with velocity being an increasing function of frequency. This set of data was stated to be "difficult to believe" in later papers. We now present here a more detailed study of a BZ-system with a dispersion relation with an increasing velocity at decreasing period, verifying the existence of an "inverse" dispersion relation at least in the nonstationary gels we have used.

Abstract:
Abstract The law of one price states that prices of homogenous commodities, defined in a common currency, are equal throughout the world. It implies cointegration of prices. In the present study, the law was tested for imports of soft sawnwood to the United Kingdom from Finland, Sweden, Canada, and Russia using the concept of cointegration. The data are quarterly and cover the period 1978-1992. The study used the multivariate cointegration method of Johansen instead of the bivariate method commonly used in earlier studies. The existence of the law was tested simultaneously for all four import prices and separately for pairs of prices. The results do not support the "law" but instead indicate the existence of differences over the long run between different suppliers' sawnwood prices. This suggests that imperfect competition models should be used in explaining and forecasting UK sawnwood imports. The results also raise an important issue concerning testing for competition in forest products markets, which is not usually done in connection with the modeling of markets. For. Sci. 44(1):17-23.

Abstract:
We report the existence of multiple bifurcations, period-doubling route to chaos and hyperchaos in magnetoconvection of a shallow, electrically conducting non-Newtonian couple-stress fluid layer heated from underneath with vertically imposed magnetic field. By adopting low-order approximations, a four-dimensional dissipative hyperchaotic system with six control parameters is obtained. Both fluid couple-stress and magnetic parameters delay the onset of convection. In contrast to plain couple-stress convection, the magnetic field instigates the occurrence of Andronov–Hopf, Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations with double-homoclinic connection at the origin near the onset of magnetoconvection when the magnetic diffusivity ratio (the ratio of fluid Prandtl number to magnetic Prandtl number) is less than one. Thereafter the system exhibits periodic attractors near subcritical Hopf bifurcation at nonzero equilibrium points undergoing chaos through period-doubling process. Owing to the interaction between the magnetic field and fluid couple-stress, the present model system exhibits hyperchaos via a suddenly created instability during stable oscillation for critical values of the parameters.

Full text
Abstract:
This article considers protopresbyter Evgeny Akvilonov’s features of teaching fundamental theology and his doctrine on the proofs for the existence of God in the context of rational theology of the synodal period. It is demonstrated that: the main methodological feature of his fundamental theological heritage is his desire to preempt the solution of apologetic tasks by solving fundamental-founding ones, aimed at bringing the Christian faith content to scientific understanding, or at the awareness of the necessary internal connection and objective foundations of the Christian faith doctrine; when substantiating the truth of Christianity, he relied on the method of historical and comparative analysis of religions and considered bishop Mikhail Gribanovsky’s “subjective method” unsatisfactory, returning to the traditional neo-scholastic method. Prof. Akvilonov’s detailed presentation of ontological, cosmological, and teleological proofs is analyzed, and the main methodological feature of his teaching is revealed: the proofs are studied in close logical relationship with the doctrine of divine attributes. Prof. Akvilonov’s use of an original methodology for studying the proofs did not give much effect to the development of the doctrine about them in contemporary fundamental theology. The concept of a unified proof put forward by him did not receive a necessary detailed completion. Also, no original formulation of ontological and cosmological proofs was proposed, and a new form of the teleological proof is a probabilistic judgment; prof. Akvilonov’s attempt to search for new ways of developing the doctrine of the proofs for the existence of God is assessed positively.

Abstract:
AbstractTo investigate the ultraviolet (UV) activity of the bright, non-eclipsing, double-lined spectroscopic binary system UX Ari, IUE spectra (194 images) were taken from the IUE archive. The spectra, obtained during the period 1978–1996, show emission lines originating in the chromosphere and transition region. The long-wavelength low dispersion spectra were examined for ultraviolet excess by comparing the UV continuum level of UX Ari with the levels of k Cet and η Cep in the spectral range 2100–3200 Å. The individual Mgiih and k emission-line fluxes of component stars show that the contributions to the activity of the system for G5 V and K0 IV are about 20% and 80%, respectively. Apart from the flare event observed on 1979 Jan 1, there are some flux enhancements in the years 1987, 1991 and 1994 which may suggest existence of a periodicity of about 7–9 years. Examination of the ultraviolet excess in the system showed that there is some UV excess in UX Ari, which varies from 1% up to 24% with the exception of two images which showed no UV excess. The results revealed that there was an agreement on the source of emission regions which could be attributed to magnetic activity. The contribution of G5 V and K0 IV components to the Mgii activity of the system suggests a need to take into consideration the spot distribution not only on the surface of the K0 IV but also on the surface of the G5 V component of UX Ari.

Abstract:
Defense spending is one of the most important functions of national security and defense. Defense costs in peacetime may seem too burdensome for the state budget, but their long-term low level has a negative impact on the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On the other hand, the level of defense spending should be such as to create conditions for the development of the country's economy, not to slow it down. Today, it is impossible to give an unambiguous answer about the direction of the impact of military spending on economic growth. Many publications mention only the existence of a conditional level to which the increase in military spending contributes to economic growth, but after exceeding it there is a negative impact on economic development. Therefore, the article presents a model of the connection between defense costs and economic growth in the context of reconciling the needs of national security and defense and the need to maintain optimal macroeconomic indicators of the country. The model is based on the analysis of data from 40 countries for the period from 2011 to 2020 in Excel and STATISTICA with the output of the final results in the form of tables. The individuality of the proposed model is that its application allows the analysis of the influence of a number of factors on the results of macroeconomic effects. The theoretical basis for determining the effects of military spending on macroeconomic stability is the theory of economic growth. In the future, the application of the proposed model will provide an opportunity to develop recommendations for increasing the country's economic growth. Further research may focus on finding optimization models for defense spending based on certain standardized macroeconomic proportions.

Abstract:
The article examines the poetics of things in Kalmyk lyrics of the 20th - early 21st centuries. as a memory of the Siberian exile, created by poets of different generations in different years in their native and Russian languages. The relevance and novelty of the article is determined by the lack of knowledge of the world of things, reflected in Kalmyk lyrics in the context of the Siberian exile of the Kalmyk people during the period of Stalinist repressions (1943-1957). In the poems, things are presented in the plot, updating in the title of the work certain markers and symbols that characterize the existence of exiled people in a foreign environment during and after the war, in conditions of hunger, cold, illness, and death. Certain things in the texts convey the general atmosphere of everyday life and existence, including through the use of personification, metaphor, comparison, dreams, and memories. The motifs of personal and historical memory in Kalmyk lyrics actualize the connection between generations both in the past and in the present. The original texts of the authors preserve the tradition of Kalmyk versification

Abstract:
In this text, we present five extraordinary metal finds from the area of Netolice, the Prachatice District, dated to the period from the end of the 8th to the 10th centuries. Only two of them (a gilded belt strap end decorated with niello, and an imitative coin based on the Bavarian type) are chronologically related to the existence of the Na Jánu Hillfort as a centre; the other ones are earlier. All these finds are evidence of long-distance contacts of the area with the southeast (the late Avar type) and with the west especially (the two belt strap ends and two coins) and they were probably related to the so-called Linz Trail. The most important is the denier of Louis the Pious, minted in Paris, which extends the evidence of the circulation of Carolingian coins in Bohemia, and its close connection with Bavaria in the 9th century. The imitative issue based on the Bavarian type, dated to the period 967–976, extends this, relatively numerous, group of coins and attests the Bavarian influence in the 10th century Bohemia.

Abstract:
Aim: The purpose of the study is to investigate the possible historical antecedents of emergency legislation, with a view to presenting some theories of the exercise of power and their possible application, as well as the possible applicability of the above in governmental coordination. Methodology: The author reviews the connections and correlations arising in the subject matter by using domestic literature and legal bases. Findings: The existence of extraordinary legal order rules already appeared during ancient legal development. After the fragmentation of the Middle Ages, the connection between the modern application of the institutions present in the period following the Age of Enlightenment and the period following the Reformation can be seen in action, although the particularities of emergency legislation caused by the pandemic and then the war undergo a continuous evolution, which is ongoing. The government coordination must adapt to these processes. Value: The study presents the possible historical antecedents, reflects on them with regard to the present, and also highlights that the role of coordination in the aforementioned processes is necessarily extremely important.

Abstract:
The history of Russian female monasticism of the first half of the 18th century is a poorly studied topic in Russian historiography. The article is devoted to the last women's monastery created in the Urals in the pre-Synodal era. Various aspects of its life during the difficult period of church reforms of Peter I and his successors are revealed. Based on new archival documents of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts and the Central State Archive of the Kirov Region, the 50-year history of the monastery is presented in a comprehensive manner for the first time. A brief review of the development of the Kungur lands and their Christianization is given, the prerequisites and circumstances for the emergence of the monastery are analyzed. The formation of its architectural ensemble is shown, the view of the temple and its interior decoration is described, a brief analysis of the book collection is given. The article examines the personalities of the abbesses of the monastery and gives a description of the age and social composition of the sisters. The questions of «survival» of the monastery in the course of Peter the Great reforms, the sources of its existence are analyzed. Since the monastery was worldly, the role of benefactors in its development, strengthening its material level in difficult historical conditions is especially noted. The attempt to close the monastery in 1724–1725 and the reasons for its slow death in the next quarter of a century are considered. The history of the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God is revealed in connection with the history of the Kungur monastery. Its importance in the life of the town after the closure of the convent is shown, in particular, in connection with the history of the uprising of Yemelyan Pugachev.

Abstract:
Pathogenic bacteria, originating in the inflamed periodontium, can make their way into the body through the vascular system, either by entering the bloodstream or lymph directly or as internalized particles of immune cells. This research aims to investigate the existence of a potential connection between two pathologies – periodontitis and ischemic heart disease – by utilizing a DNA-DNA hybridization technique to highlight the presence of seven periodontal pathogens: A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, P. endodontalis, P. intermedia, T. forsythia, C. rectus and F. Nucleatum. The study was conducted over a period of 3 years on a sample consisting of 119 patients with cardiovascular disease and periodontal disease, divided into 3 groups by pathologies, as follows: the first group consisted of 31 patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy, the second group consisted of 43 patients with periodontal disease and ischemic cardiomyopathy, and the third group consisted of 45 patients with periodontal disease. The results show the possibility of a correlation between the composition of the bacterial flora in the group of patients with cardiac disease and those with associated pathologies. In conclusion, we may state that periodontitis may be seen as a risk factor in heart disease, which may certify the possibility of an etiological connection between the two pathologies.

Abstract:
In this article we examine Russia’s advances into the North Pacific lands of America and the reaction of the Hispanic Monarchy to this situation. The first Russian expeditions to the easternmost part of Siberia date back to the 1600s and were always based on commercial objectives, especially in the field of fur trading. However, the first significant attempt to make possible settlements and explore the connection between the continent of Asia and America were the two expeditions made by the danish Bering in the period from 1725 to 1750. During these explorations, the Russians learned of the existence of the connection from East Asia to America, although always by sea and not by land as it was believed. Likewise, the conclusions drawn by the Russians were how hard and complicated these expeditions were due to the climate and the remoteness. The Hispanic Monarchy, given its status as the first world power, and its consequent structure of ambassadors for the most important European Courts, is warned from Moscow by the different ambassadors, of the expeditions that the Russians were making through American lands, lands that obviously, the Spaniards considered as ours. Thus, Spain, through its territories in Mexico, began to send expeditions to make settlements so that the Russians would understand that these were occupied territories.
