Full textThe specificity of the acquisition of content through digital interfaces condemns the epistemic agent to a fragmented interaction, with respect to the huge informational bulk today available through any standard implementation of the man-computer relationship, and invalidates the applicability of the standard model of knowledge as justified true belief, by repudiating the concept of rationally founded belief, to form which would instead require the agent to be able to have precisely the conceptual resources and computational time inaccessible. Thereby the agent, bound by the ontological limitations belong to cultural interfaces, is forced to fall back on ambiguous, arbitrary and often more casual than he takes into account, selection and management information process that produce real epistemological hybrids (by Latour) made of feelings, program outputs, unfounded beliefs, bits of indirect testimonies and of a series of human-digital relationships that give rise to escape in a transcendent dimension belonging to anthropological area of the sacred. Starting from this analysis the work deals with constructing a new epistemological paradigm of propositional knowledge obtained through a digital content acquisition, based on the new concept of Digital Tracings, defined as a process of digital capture of a set of tracks , ie meta-information of a testimonial kind. This device, once recognized as a communication process of digital contents, will be based on the research and selection of meta-information, ie tracks, which allow the implementation of approaches derived from analysis of decision-making under bounded rationality, which approaches, as well to be almost never used in this context, are ontologically prepared for dealing with uncertainty such as that came into the informational hybrid and that can provide the agent on the epistemic goodness of acquired content.

Full textThe studies presented in this dissertation include practical and theoretical results developed in the context of procedural knowledge space theory (PKST). PKST was developed from the link between the problem spaces theory and the knowledge spaces theory (KST). The former is a theory of human problem solving, according to the problem-solving behavior occurs in a problem space. The latter is a mathematical theory whose initial goal was the development of an efficient machine for the assessment of knowledge. Today, KST is the theoretical framework for numerous adaptive and computer-based assessment and learning systems. The fundamental notion in KST is the knowledge structure. The knowledge structure is a model for the organization of knowledge in a given domain. In PKST, the knowledge structure is derived from the problem space. A peculiarity of this approach is that the problems in the knowledge structure are solved by (partially) observable sequences of moves in the problem space. Unfortunately, the existing methods of empirical validation of knowledge structures and adaptive assessment of knowledge in KST cannot use the information contained in these sequences of moves but are limited to dichotomous responses (i.e., correct/wrong). The general aim of the first two studies is to present models that use the information contained in the observed sequences of moves. With this aim, a probabilistic framework called the Markov solution process model (MSPM), which considers the problem space and knowledge structures, was developed. The MSPM was used as a model for the empirical validation of knowledge structure and as the foundation for an adaptive, computer-based knowledge assessment procedure. The last two studies aimed to investigate how to specify a problem space. In fact, different problem spaces can represent the same task. However, those representations should be consistent to one another. The first study covers the theoretical aspects of which characteristics must be maintained among alternative representations to be consistent. The second presents an application about the possible interpretation of this representation at a psychological level.

Drawing on Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology, François Jullien’s thinking and Georges Didi-Huberman’s visual anthropology, the thesis aims to trace the origins of Parise’s poetics and its relationships with philosophy and visual arts. The first strand of the research deals with the intersections between Parise’s work and the philosophy of perception, while the second one investigates the similarities between Parise’s poetics and painting. This leads to the conclusion that Parise’s work requires broader instruments of analysis than traditional literary critique

Full textThe research theme focuses on the templar system representation of Wieng Kum Kam archaeological site that is located in northwestern Thailand near Chiang Mai. This system consists of about twenty-six temples that cover a period between the thirteenth and sixteenth century. The study activities on Wieng Kum Kam site is part of a joint project between the Thai Fine Arts Department, the DARDUS and the Faculty of Architecture of Chiang Mai University (FACMU), which was entered into an agreement in 2006, aimed enhancement of the archaeological site. The ultimate goal of research is knowledge and the virtual reconstruction of the entire templar system and the study of a communication system as a virtual database to be used as experimental basis on a temple chosen as standard. The research consisted of a knowledge phase of the site and problems associated with it. It was in fact carried out the retrieval of historical sources relating to the site, the study of high-resolution Quickbird satellite imagery aimed at territory understanding and the ancient settlement pattern and the analysis of the existing context. Was later acquired the data about individual temples, the study of applicant plans in Wieng Kum Kam and other localities in the region and the first phase of study on building materials to establish the salient features. It was thus possible to proceed with the modeling three-dimensional reconstruction of temples through assumptions based on available floor plans, on a comparison with similar architectural styles in the area of Chiang Mai and through the study of traditional Lanna region (the area in which Wieng Kum Kam historical site is located). It was further examined the issue of degradation and of the general issues of conservation of archaeological structures, endangered by excessive construction activity and the degradation due to weathering. For the analysis of the degradation of building materials, was carried out a second campaign of sampling depending on the type of degradation found in the structures. Has been undertaken with the photographic documentation of structural instability and to study the porosity of the material sampled to determine the degree of vulnerability to rain water and moisture, and the study by XRD and thermal analysis of the patinas that cover most templar structures, determining their organic origin. Finally, it was realized three-dimensional model of the hypothetic original state of the settlement and have been developed a virtual database on two temples chosen as sample for recording and reporting of data and issues related to the temples concerned.

Full textThe research joins a recent scholarly conversation in the fields of knowledge management, and dynamic capabilities approach. The aim is to understand how specific organizational determinants can influence the potential and realized absorptive capacity (which is considered as a dynamic capability) in firms operating in biotech industry (a high-velocity environment). The methodology starts from a literary review, following which we frame the research problem and then we propose a theoretical model that has been field-tested through the (qualitative) method of multiple case study analysis, applied in two Italian red-biotech firms. The main findings are that the formalization of procedures has a positive impact either on potential and realized absorptive capacity of the firms. Cross-functional coordination and meetings have a positive effect as well. Surprisingly, job rotation does not seem to be a significant variable, unlike other empirical studies. Finally, we discuss the main limitations and implications of our work, and suggest some directions for future research.

Full textA large amount of data has shown that science teaching in schools is problematic for a variety of factors; at first, the practice of teaching / learning are epistemologically incorrect because aimed more to the receipt of information rather than to pay attention to the processes of knowledge production. We proposed a model of scientific laboratory as a typical way for the epistemological proceed. The research basic assumptions have been focused on the formulation and testing of a laboratory model of science where the teaching actions are finalized to the reconstruction of scientific concepts and conceptual change. Based on the results of many surveys which show the existence of naive theories on the conception of scientific phenomena that undermine the learning of scientific theories, a model was designed and realized that has led to work on two levels, the level of students of secondary school (age 11th-14th) and the level of teachers. The students were involved in practical experimental activity or in conceptual problems solution that allowed the restructuring of scientific concepts or the change of naive conceptions, such as the conception of matter, to scientific theories. Students were busy with activities that have exploited the cognitive interaction and the groups planning. The teachers have been involved, outside of the classroom, in reflexivity actions on the teaching discipline and the teaching practices to enable the development of new ways of conceiving the "ability to teach" science and to research the best practice in teaching and learning of science. Moreover, with a tutor supervision in the classroom, teachers have been involved in actions to observe and demonstrate the in-field effectiveness of science education new models.

Full textIl mio programma di ricerca intraprende un'analisi approfondita dell'educazione cognitiva e del Metodo Feuerstein, attraverso una fitta rete di contributi interdisciplinari, per comprenderne le logiche sottese e verificarne la praticabilità. Durante il primo anno di ricerca, ho svolto un'approfondita analisi bibliografica, allo scopo di delineare la matrice teorico-scientifica del progetto. Per tale ragione, ho seguito un corso di formazione al Metodo Feuerstein per l'applicazione del Programma di Arricchimento Sirutturaie di I livello, presso il Centro per l'Apprendimento Mediato di Rimini, patrocinato dall'Inlernalional Center for the Enhancement of Learning Potential di Israele. Durante il corso, ho avuto modo di approfondire le metodologie e gli strumenti del PAS, al fine di impostare correttamente il mio programma di ricerca. Reuven Feuerstein è una delle figure più importanti nello scenario contemporaneo delle scienze dell'educazione e della psicologia cognitiva. La sua prospettiva teorica, definita Interazionismo Sociale, si inquadra all'interno del cognitivismo, del costruttivismo e della psicologia umanistica. Il Metodo si caratterizza come uno dei primi approcci metacognitivi apparsi in ambito educativo e riabilitativo ed è attualmente sperimentato in tutte quelle situazioni in cui è necessario potenziare le risorse umane, come il campo educativo, aziendale e riabilitativo. Le teorie di Feuerstein sono contraddistinte da una grande fiducia nella modificabilità umana e da una visione ottimistica delle situazioni di difficoltà cognitiva. Nessun individuo raggiunge mai la piena estensione delle sue potenzialità intellettive, ma può continuare ad evolversi lungo tutto l'arco della vita, a prescindere dall'età, dallo status socio-culturale e dalla natura dei suoi deficit. L'ipotesi di una mediazione educativa ideale, che accolga il soggetto all'interno di un sistema reticolare di conoscenze e competenze trasversali, si rende necessaria per deternlinare i principi regolatori di un "ambiente modificante", che coinvolga le agenzie formative e fornisca al discente un orientamento di senso. L'apprendimento nella società complessa è una modalità strutturale della vita, un investimento a lunga scadenza che implica un'attività consapevole, intenzionale e collettiva. Le esperienze scolastiche e lavorative non riguardano l'esecuzione routinaria di script comportamentali, piuttosto la gestione di una realtà mutevole e sfuggente, che richiede con impellenza nuove abilità e saperi emergenti. Tale logica impone all'individuo l'esigenza di riprogettarsi continuamente m una costante e faticosa attività di co-costruzione dialogica ed esperienziale delle conoscenze. Se la concezione de]]' apprendimento legata alla modernità è definita dalla logica lineare del rapporto causa-effetto, facilmente declinabile in termini di progettazione, programmazione, somministrazione e monitoraggio, il neoapprendimento postmodemo decreta un' appropriazione generativa di saperi in cui tutti i punti di riferimento, che attribuivano solidità al mondo e favorivano la selezione delle strategie di vita, esplodono in una moltiplicazione indiscriminata di prospettive. I recenti studi dello statista americano James J. Heckmann, premio Nobel per l'economia nel 2000 e direttore del Centre far Social Program Evaluation, hanno evidenziato come negli ultimi decenni il rapporto tra apprendimento ed esiti formativi sia profondamente mutato. Nello specifico, le sue ricerche dimostrano come i successi individuali siano maggiormente influenzati dalle esperienze sociali, piuttosto che dai risultati apprenditivi ottenuti a scuola. Il fatto che la maggior parte dell'apprendimento individuale si realizzi in contesti extra-scolastici conferma llilcora una volta l'attualità delle teorie di Lev Semenovic Vygotskij sul ruolo dell'interazione sociale nello sviluppo del pensiero del bambino... Full textThe object of this study is the analysis of the impact of "open culture" in the light of current World Wide Web. By addressing the main aspects that arise from the developement of hacker culture and free software philosophy, the research aim at identifying the effective role of the open source model in the current scenario. A survey of Open Access movement will complete the analysis also considering the recent restatement of "knowledge" as a commons in the Information Society.
