Abstract:
Inspired by the conference theme, Leaps and Stumbles, our panel takes a quantum leap beyond conventional notions of information. We provide a systematic consideration of information phenomena during altered states of consciousness generated by ingestion of “magic mushrooms.” Our exploration is anchored in the book, Psychedelic Information Theory: Shamanism in the Age of Reason (Kent, 2010) and is situated within the information behaviour literature. The session will be systematic for its explicit and balanced treatment of “psychedelic information” on four levels, namely: personal, microsocial,

This article is the concluding chapter in a book, Sand, Water, Silence: The Embodiment of Spirit, An Exploration of Matter and Psyche in Kalffian Sandplay Therapy. Through silence and stillness we can have glimpses of the "internal geography" of sandplay images as they affect the very materiality of the body. In this way there is access to the "somatic memories" which carry along the old wounds, pain and grief in the body. These expressions arising out of that materiality are a critically important a the perceiving consciousness and are an intrinsic part of the creative mystery of healing. Oft

This research paper examines the innovative blending of Indian and Western narrative techniques in Vikram Chandra’s novel Red Earth and Pouring Rain. The study explores how Chandra integrates traditional Indian storytelling forms, such as the frame narrative akin to the structure seen in ancient epics like the Mahabharata and the Panchatantra, with elements characteristic of Western literary styles, including stream-of-consciousness and metafiction. In the context of Narratological experiments, Indian English fiction is considered to have the implications of global narrative techniques without

In this article we discuss the notion of literary fragment based on Fernando Pessoa’s Livro do Desassossego [Book of Disquiet], an unfinished work written between 1913 and 1935. Textual witnesses are analyzed as records of the temporal and kinetic dynamics of writing and rewriting, but also as textual units of a work in progress. Self-consciousness of writing emerges both in autograph textual marks, and in the concept of fragment as a piece of text meant for a bibliographic whole. The fragment becomes a textual unit of composition that links the temporality of script acts to the semantic units

Previous studies contend that Philippines is still a ‘collectivist’ society (Cf. Hofstede Center; Cukur et al. 2004:613-634). In this collectivist or community-oriented society, individualism is not something that is highly valued. Being ‘individualistic’ is often associated to being narcissistic, loner, asocial, selfish, etc. However, one may ask whether the youth in the Philippines are not spared from this insidious culture of individualism, notwithstanding the seemingly dominant collective and communitarian character of the society. Abstract In this essay, I contest the view of recent historicist and New Historicist critics that the London books of The Prelude feature a “conservative view” of the city and capitalism. I argue that Wordsworth does not flee the social variety and perceived chaos of London in preference for his bourgeois domestic retreat in Grasmere. However, nor do I suggest that Wordsworth offers a “proto-Marxist” critique of capitalism. Instead, I show that the use of allegory in The Prelude enables Wordsworth not only to convey the alienating character of the city (and the law of the market dominating it)
