Introduction: We developed a simple, fast and new method for the Fries rearrangement of aryl esters. Materials and Methods: 4-Hydroxy pyridinium triflate functionalized silica is a very efficient, reusable and economically available catalyst for the Fries rearrangement in solvent-free condition and under microwave irradiation. Results and Discussion: Also, a notable selectivity was observed in the presence of 4-hydroxy pyridinium triflate functionalized silica. Conclusion: Selectivity, shorter reaction time, high yield, and easy work-up are advantages of this synthetic method.

Obtaining informed consent from the patient is fundamental. The consent document should be in local language and should be simple and easy to understand. The awareness and knowledge on informed consent among both patients and the physician is essential in order to practice an efficient process as it is a continuous, two- way communication where transparency and partnership plays an important role. This study was undertaken to examine patients knowledge and awareness about informed consent process. 100 patients attending the Out Patient department were interviewed through questionnaire to assess

Purpose: Studies have documented that the majority of consent documents for medical diagnosis and treatment are written at a reading level above that of the majority of the U.S. population. This study hypothesized that use of an easy-to-read consent statement, when compared with a standard consent statement, will result in higher patient comprehension of the clinical treatment protocol, lower patient anxiety, higher patient satisfaction, and higher patient accrual. Obtaining informed consent is a standard procedure in research practice. However, it is not sufficient, even if an individual chooses to participate voluntarily in research process, for the researchers to be able to claim that they have obtained informed consent. The consent must be of sufficiently ‘high quality’: it must not only be informed, but also valid, i.e., it must contain the following three elements: adequate information, voluntariness, and competence. Although preparing informed consent is a difficult process in general, it is particularly challenging when working with certain popul

Biomedical research has always relied on access to human biological materials and clinical information, resources that when combined form biobanks. In the past, it appears that investigators sometimes used these resources with relatively little oversight, and without the consent of the individuals from whom these materials and information were obtained. Several developments in the last ten to fifteen years have converged to place greater emphasis on the role of individual consent in the creation and use of biobanks. The most important by far is the power of information technology, which has tr

Consent is one of the most powerful concepts known to the law; in particular, it can provide a defence in the criminal context by converting unlawful conduct to that which is not only lawful but even to be encouraged. Despite this, the task of formulating a general theory of consent in criminal law has not been an easy one, not least because of the different situations in which it operates. Given that consent fundamentally involves the subjective attitude of the person concerned to the conduct in question, this paper sets out to explore the dynamics of consent by considering a number of factor

The first application is the very practical real-world problem of determining the maximum capacity of a given network.
