Abstract Electric vehicles (EVs) load and its charging methodologies play a significant role in distribution system planning. The inaccurate modelling of EV load may overload the distribution system components, increase in Network Power Loss (NPL) and Maximum Voltage Deviation (MVD). The Constant Power (CP) load model is more popularly used to model both the conventional and EV loads in the distribution system. But the CP load modelling cannot provide accurate information of EV charging process. In this paper, the EV load is modelled as constant Impedance-constant Current-constant Power (ZIP),

Since most specialised microwave components are imported, this adds a hefty price tag in developing the infrastructure for such consultation. This thesis looks at the design oflow cost alternatives for use in the laboratory. A microwave source output with variable output power is often required for consultation. The calculation of product costs may also be simplified if the available microwave power is constant despite load changes. The

The response of wide flange steel columns subjected to constant axial loads and lateral blast loads was examined. The finite element program ABAQUS was used to model W8x40 sections with different slendernesses and boundary conditions. For the response calculations, a constant axial force was first applied to the column and the equilibrium state was determined. Next, a short duration, lateral blast load was applied and the response time history was calculated. Changes in displacement time histories and plastic hinge formations resulting from varying the axial load were examined. The cases

The development of sustainable transport systems has experienced great improvements in the last 15 years. The complex powering structure of automotive electric systems can be described as a distributed multiconverter architecture. This paper outlines the design of a compliant crank slider with adjustable constant-force output. Constant-force mechanisms (CFM) are used to maintain a constant output reaction force throughout a large range of compressive motion. This novel design improves on existing CFM by introducing a second degree of freedom that adjusts the mechanism’s output without changing its kinematic structure. This second degree of freedom is the rotation of a compliant beam about its longitudinal axis as it is constrained to the initial plane of bending. The resulting change in the beam’s stiffness allows for a
