Abstract:
Within Canadian national cinema, audiences view places that draw attention to the shared experience of being within these geopolitical, socio-spatial locations. This paper contends that crime films set in Winnipeg, a city situated in the centre of North America, reflect and contribute to the cultural identity of the city within the national imaginary. Place-myths have the potential to construct meanings about a particular place, indicating whether it is romantic or dangerous, progressive or “backward,” vibrant or decaying. In this article, I analyze the semantic genesis of the mutations experienced by the nature–culture binomial, which, in some cases, tends to be a continuum and in others, tends to the dualization of both domains. I begin with a brief analysis of the transcendence of the classical reflection on Nature from the phenomenology of Maurice Merleau-Ponty to stop my attention on the marked nature–culture duality in the no less classical formulations from specific works of Sigmund Freud and Claude Lévi-Strauss, even when this dualism is enriched by the conceptual variation in the work of each one. The good life is broadly understood to mean a life worth living, characterized by positive human functioning and well-being. Psychologists have primarily focused on aspects of hedonic and eudaimonic well-being at the individual level. While this continues to be important, the narrative scripts that influence individuals’ concepts of the good life are underexplored. Scripts about “the good life” circulate in every culture and for Asian American Christians, they potentially come from three sources—Asian cultures experienced prior to or during diaspora, Christian culture, and the individual’s per

Sand, as substance and symbol, has a rich history. This paper follows the movement of sand through element, image, literature, initiatory rites, sacred rituals, and the practice of sandplay therapy. Sand, as a foundation of transformational initiatory experience, has a place in the ceremonies of Tibetan Buddhism, esoteric Shingon Buddhism, and the Navaho Native American tradition. Utilized ritually, sand can constellate a meeting between the everyday mind and the archetype of the Self. This movement toward wholeness in the personality can provide a ground for awakening to Spirit.

Abstract:
The article describes the use of the boat as a symbol by a client who "lost herself" as a person when her husband sustained a serious accident. As the client progressed over a 5-year therapy she began to "find herself."" Her use of the boat in her sandplay therapy suggested a masculine energy that, combined with the feminine aspect of the symbolic image of the boat to finally constellate a self image. The author suggests that the boat, which is often thought of as feminine, a container, has many masculine aspects and that combined these can be symbolic of the self.

This paper presents the sandplay work of a gay man struggling to individuate in a culture that did not support a lifestyle consistent with his nature. The client entered therapy suffering from low self-esteem, isolation, a felt need to conceal his true self, and terror of his secret being revealed. He was fearful because his parents and society rejected his behavior and interests as unmasculine and inappropriate. His work in sandplay, can be seen as a alchemical process which permitted psychic healing through differentiation and ultimate integration of his masculine and feminine sides. This en

With every aspect of space-related technology in a climactic development phase, and with all the more actors being either interested to or already engaged in space exploration and the exploitation of capabilities the Space provides in various sectors of human activity, it is high time that robust and up-to-date legal and policy frameworks be developed, in a national and international level. The continuous rise of opportunities that space exploration provides is driving humanity in new space race, this time with governmental and non-governmental actors, and technologies hitherto unfathomable.
