This paper introduces a method for interactive direct manipulation of motion capture animation, which allows a user to alter positional properties of a motion and preserves the motions’ quality. The algorithm contains three stages: motion analysis, motion path editing, and constraint reconstruction. Our experiments show that by using the algorithm human motion can be transformed successfully from the old path to the new path.

Abstract Motivation The application of constraint-based modeling to functionally analyze metagenomic data has been limited so far, partially due to the absence of suitable toolboxes. Results To address this gap, we created a comprehensive toolbox to model (i) microbe–microbe and host–microbe metabolic interactions, and (ii) microbial communities using microbial genome-scale metabolic reconstructions and metagenomic data. The Microbiome Modeling Toolbox extends the functionality of the constraint-based reconstruction and analysis toolbox. Availability and implementation The Microbiome Modeling

Constraint-based metabolic models are currently the most comprehensive system-wide models of cellular metabolism. Several challenges arise when building an in silico constraint-based model of an organism that need to be addressed before flux balance analysis (FBA) can be applied for simulations. An algorithm called FBA-Gap is presented here that aids the construction of a working model based on plausible modifications to a given list of reactions that are known to occur in the organism. When applied to a working model, the algorithm gives a hypothesis concerning a minimal medium for sustaining

Image reconstruction based on sparse constraints is an important research topic in compressed sensing. Sparsity adaptive matching pursuit (SAMP) is a greedy pursuit reconstruction algorithm, which reconstructs signals without prior information of the sparsity level and potentially presents better reconstruction performance than other greedy pursuit algorithms. However, SAMP still suffers from being sensitive to the step size selection at high sub-sampling ratios. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a constrained backtracking matching pursuit (CBMP) algorithm for image reconstruction. Th

Watermarking embeds information into a digital signal like audio, image, or video. Reversible image watermarking can restore the original image without any distortion after the hidden data is extracted. In this paper, we propose a blind watermarking method based on space reconstruction. Through calculating the statistical property of the digital image, we are able to separately obtain the feature spaces. Passing spaces decomposing and reconstructing of the feature spaces, constructing the embedding matrix, we obtain that the robustness of the approach lies in hiding a watermark in the subspace

We have determined an approach for simultaneous reconstruction and denoising of 3D seismic data with randomly missing traces. The core in simultaneous reconstruction and denoising of 3D seismic data is the choice of constraint method. Recently, there have been two types of popular approaches to choose such a constraint: sparsity-promoting transforms using a sparsity constraint and rank reduction methods using a rank constraint. Although the sparsity-promoting transform enjoys the direct advantage of high efficiency, it lacks adaptivity to a variety of data patterns. On the other hand, the rank

Earlier effort has been focused on the well-known synthesis model, where a signal is decomposed as a linear combination of a few atoms of a dictionary. However, the analysis model, a counterpart of the synthesis model, has not received much attention until recent years. The analysis model takes a different viewpoint to sparse representation, and it assumes that the product of an analysis dictionary and a signal is sparse. Compared with the

The integration of virtual reality into archaeological research began in the early 1990s. The use of computer-based methods in maritime archaeology is recent. Before exploring a real-time virtual, a 3D computer model is created from drawings, general sketches, raw dimensions, 3D scanned data, or photographs, or by using simple primitives and “drawing” on the computer. Virtual reality is a simulation of physical reality offering the viewer real-time movement through a true 3D space and interactivity with the objects, which can be further enhanced with 3D sound, lighting, and touch.
