Abstract:
The modern development of high-speed transport causes a requirement toughening of the safety requirements for rolling stock and upper track components. Researchers and constructors are actively working towards the creation of more complete and adequate models of constructers and their elements, as well as new materials for their manufacture. The problem of studying traditional materials in various modes of rolling stock operation, including increasing the frequencies of dynamic influences and imposing effects from various loads and oscillations to the high-frequency area, becomes relevant and timely. This work is devoted to modeling the influence of high-frequency loading on a sample made of rail steel, this kind of influence takes place when rolling stock passes through an artificial constructer. It is assumed that the work of the rail within the sleepers step is described by the laws of uniaxial tension-compression. Experimental results and conclusions on ultrasonic high-frequency cyclic tests and structural analysis of the model material - low-carbon steel of the perlite class are presented.

Title: The community of peers as an arena for democratic education: What possibilities for participation can be found in play, among peers, in the kindergarten? Abstract: Children’s formal right to participate in the formation of their everyday life in Norwegian kindergartens, has led to several discussions of democracy connected to young children in kindergartens. This article represents an element in these discussions, based on experiences from fieldwork in a Norwegian Kindergarten. The main focus is the playful community of peers and what negotiation of participation is related to, in this community. Four observations of children’s negotiation of participation provide the content and the structure of the article. The aim is to reveal the problematic and various ways children are constructers and also being constructed as citizens in their community of peers.

Abstract:
The Lean philosophy essentially refers to the way in which processes and operations are defined. Within this new concept, we seek to increase value for the customer, reduce parcels that do not add value, simplify processes, reduce cycle time, reduce variability, increase transparency etc. In this context, the present research was developed in the civil construction realm, more specifically in companies that construct vertical buildings, located in the city of João Pessoa. This study aims to perform a diagnosis about the behavior, attitudes and management actions of constructers in relation to the application of the lean construction philosophy. In order to do that interviews were carried out in a group of five constructors, in which we tried to evaluate through forms the engineering point of view, as well as five other stakeholders’. We identified the level of maturity of companies and their managers, regarding the lean behavior in which a larger part of the constructors demonstrated the knowledge about its content, always looking for an application of the lean philosophy in its enterprises.

Abstract:
This study examines how students in Finland (16-18 years of age) constructed meaning and knowledge in a collaborative online reading situation. Student pairs ( n = 19) were asked to write a joint essay on a controversial issue. First, the pairs discussed the topic freely to activate their prior knowledge. Next, they gathered source material on the Internet. Finally, they composed a joint essay. The data were collected using an interaction approach to verbal protocol data, along with video screen captures. In the analysis, three units were employed: episodes ( n = 562) for describing online reading practices; utterances ( n = 944) for identifying collaborative reading strategies; and collaborative reading patterns ( n = 435) for clarifying how the student pairs constructed meaning and knowledge. Collaborative reading patterns were categorized according to a four-part model. A hierarchical cluster analysis was conducted to identify students’ collaborative reading profiles. Five collaborative reading profiles emerged: co-constructers (two pairs), collaborators (two pairs), blenders (six pairs), individually oriented readers (four pairs), and silent readers (five pairs). Overall, it appeared that some students were capable of working in pairs, whereas others had a stronger preference for working alone. Collaborative profiles might offer teachers both an evaluative and an instructional tool to support collaborative interaction in their classrooms.

Abstract:
The overlapping mineral resources are always occupied by the various buildings and cannot be exploited anymore, so to determine their boundaries correctly is an important task for both local government and constructers. Based on “regulations about exploiting overlapping coal and keeping coal pillar for buildings, waters, railways and major tunnels”, the software is developed to calculate the overlapping mineral resources. Four main design steps about the software are illustrated, the main dialogue box of the software is introduced, which is composed of three part boxes. In the end Chaochuan industry square is selected as an example, variables are calculated by the software, and the protected boundaries are drawn in MapGis.

Abstract:
Abstract We deal with static prearranged couples in practice quite often. Constructers are using them a lot to improve rigidity of product. Some examples are mentioned in this article. The paper also discusses the models of kinematic couples in plane and models of kinematic couples in space. Spatial movable and non-movable couples are commented on as well. The article particularly focuses on application of statics in the assembly in spatial couples (movable, non-movable) for intentional allowance fix which leads to a non-problem assembly. With fix like this, it is possible to manufacture selected parts in series while assuring non-problem assembly.

Abstract:
The Bosporus is a unique place with its traditional architecture. The construction of new buildings along the Bosporus coast line are forbidden and only reconstructions of demolished original historic buildings are possible. Since 1984 legal authorities act different legislations about these reconstructions. Until 2005 the legislation gives permission for the usage of any structural material unless the overall appearance is the same as the original building. But after 2005 the legislation changed and the usage of original structural material became mandatory. The underlying reason of this is to protect the originality and authenticity of the Bosporus buildings both with their appearances and construction techniques. But the practical output became promoting the constructers for making the reconstructions without following the approved reconstruction projects or changing the reconstructions afterwards. In this paper structural system, external wall, window, and roof alternatives for reconstructions are compared and contrasted by evaluating the performance requirements. Examples of inappropriate reconstructions are documented and a tentative proposal is made for the reconstructions of the Bosporus region.

Abstract:
Purpose – Dialogic peer coaching as leadership can enable teachers to influence each other's professional learning. The purpose of this paper is to shift the emphasis from the role associated with the designated title of leader to the purpose and relevance of teacher leadership in the context of dialogic peer coaching. Design/methodology/approach – The research was undertaken as a small qualitative case study embedded in a school-based, teacher professional development project. Nine groups of peer coaches from five unrelated schools engaged in a formal process of collaborative inquiry over two years. Interview data from 13 volunteer teacher participants were analysed using the constant comparison method and themes determined. Findings – The study revealed that there was growth in teacher leadership capabilities as they become dialogic peer coaches to each other. Practical implications – Through their collaborative peer coaching dialogue teachers have the transformative space to articulate their thinking. They can engage in dialogic feedback where they are positioned as experts in their own practice. Social implications – The teachers in this study are positioned within communities of practice as co-constructers of knowledge and co-learners. On the basis of the findings the authors suggest that this can support the development of high capacity leadership in schools. This stance contrasts with a technicist approach to teacher professional learning in which teachers are situated as absorbers or recipients of knowledge constructed elsewhere. Originality/value – The research reported in this paper addresses three key elements of leadership: individual development; collaboration or team development; and organisational development. It outlines a means by which teacher leadership can be strengthened to address these elements in schools.

Abstract:
Purpose Multiple jobholders’ workplace learning is an under-researched theme, although it offers possibilities to add knowledge of learning at several workplaces at a time. The purpose of this study is to explore the career development and workplace learning of Finnish multiple jobholders with university degree. Design/methodology/approach The qualitative extreme case study of “elite multiple jobholders” was based on 45 in-depth interviews, which were analysed by abductive content analysis using the chaos theory of careers (CTC). Findings This study showed that elite multiple jobholders were attracted by meaningful jobs, which were significant, had broader purposes or offered possibilities for self-realization and self-development, whereas they criticized paid work organizations. They tried to anticipate the future working life and labour markets and adjusted their careers to them by educating and by choosing jobs with learning possibilities. However, they saw themselves as constructers of the future, which left them at vulnerable position concerning the institutional setting. They organized their work flexibly with different contracts and their professional identities were networked. Research limitations/implications This study is limited in Finns with university degree. Future research should inspect multiple jobholders with lower degree educations, in different contexts and with other methodologies. Originality/value This study gives an example of applying CTC as a holistic framework to study how individual careers emerge contextually and how they are recursively connected to work organization and working life changes. Possibilities to understand fractals are offered.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper introduces a pattern for almost compositional functions over recursive data types, and over families of mutually recursive data types. Here “almost compositional” means that for all of the constructors in the type(s), except a limited number of them, the result of the function depends only on the constructor and the results of calling the function on the constructor's arguments. The pattern consists of a generic part constructed once for each data type or family of data types, and a task-specific part. The generic part contains the code for the predictable compositional cases, leaving the interesting work to the task-specific part. Examples of the pattern are given, implemented in dependent type theory with inductive families, in Haskell with generalized algebraic data types and rank-2 polymorphism, and in Java using a variant of the Visitor design pattern. The relationships to the “Scrap Your Boilerplate” approach to generic programming, and to general tree types in dependent type theory, are investigated by reimplementing our operations using those frameworks.

Abstract:
Background: To study the relationship and predictive capacity of the psychological variables of catastrophization, surrender, acceptance, mindfulness, psychological inflexibility, perceived injustice, positive affect and negative affect, on functional disability and distress in patients with fibromyalgia (FM) and also, analyze the mediating role of these psychological variables on health status and identify subgroups of patients with FM. Patients and method: 251 patients with FM were included in the study according to the diagnostic criteria of the 1990 ACR, attended in Primary Care of Aragon and assessed in Specialized Care of the Miguel Servet Hospital of Zaragoza. Along with the diagnosis and study of sociodemographic variables, different questionnaires and scales have been used to evaluate the variables of the same (psychological, physical impact and emotional impact). The Pearson correlation analysis and the multiple regression analysis with the Stepwise method were used, as well as the statistical procedure of Baron and Kenny with the performance of three multiple regression analyzes and the fulfillment of 4 requirements and different cluster analysis to determine subpopulation of patients. Results: A statistically significant association (ES) with a negative and positive sign (p <0.01) was found among the psychological variables (catastrophization, acceptance, surrender, inflexibility, perceived injustice, mindfulness, positive affect and negative affect) and the variables of physical impact or functional capacity, as well as the variables of anxiety, depression and distress. Acceptance, positive affect, injustice, negative affect and mindfulness were part of the final explanatory model, through regression analysis, with an explanatory variance of 51% of the physical impact on FM and surrender, mindfulness, perceived injustice, catastrophization, positive and negative affect, formed part of the explanatory model in 75% of the variance of the perception of stress. Significant relationships were found between the acceptance (R² = 0.33) and negative affect (R² = 0.33) in the health outcomes, measured through the physical and emotional impact in patients with FM. The variable mindfulness showed a mediating effect between negative affect and emotional impact in patients with FM (R² = 0.38). A diverse cluster of patients with FM was found, with different scores of pain, fatigue, sleep quality, rigidity, anxiety, depression, work difficulties and psychological constructs analyzed. Conclusion: In the patients diagnosed with FM it was found that the psychological variables (positive affect and negative affect, mindfulness, perceived injustice) had a relevant contribution in the physical and emotional impact of them. Negative affect and mindfulness would be the variables with the greatest impact on the experience of these patients' distress, constituting a therapeutic objective in the approach and treatment of FM. In the assessment of this patient it is important to use clinical variables, such as pain, fatigue, work difficulty, quality of sleep and rigidity and psychological linked to anxiety and depression and other constructs that express catastrophization, surrender, injustice, mindfulness and positive affect and negative, since we can define the presence of subgroups and define the therapies in each one of them.

Medina, Alcaraz Juan Carlos. "The Construction of Happiness in Depression." Doctoral thesis, Universitat de Barcelona, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/664683.

Full text
Abstract:
Depression is one of the most prevalent disorders and one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Regarding economic implications, depressive disorders have also a large impact on health budgets through both direct and indirect costs. Studies on their clinical course have shown that they often become chronic, a phenomenon related to their high recurrence rates. In addition, it is usual to find other disorders co-occurring with depression. Such comorbidities not only increase its severity, but also decrease response to treatment, and produce further impairment in individuals’ life. A physical disease highly prevalent among people with depressive disorders is fibromyalgia syndrome, a comorbidity that has already been shown to produce a significant impact in daily functioning and wellbeing, and to decrease response to treatment. The main objective of this thesis was to advance the knowledge on the relationship between depression and self-reported happiness, analysing how several clinical conditions, and the cognitive system involved in the construction of self and others, influenced such relationship. Furthermore, we also tested whether psychotherapy was capable of increasing happiness in individuals with depression. To pursue these objectives, two interrelated studies were conducted. The first study (cross-sectional) gauged the relationship between depression and happiness by comparing a non-clinical sample with 81 participants, a sample of 91 patients with depression, and a sample of 61 with depression plus fibromyalgia syndrome. In the second study (a randomised controlled trial), we analysed how happiness evolved with psychotherapy, comparing two different therapeutic approaches (cognitive-behavioural therapy, and dilemma- focused therapy) delivered to 97 participants. Results showed that participants with depression were significantly less happy than those in the non-clinical sample, whereas suffering fibromyalgia syndrome comorbid to depression did not have a further detrimental effect. After psychotherapy, large increases in happiness were found among people with depression, regardless their gender, age, civil status, education, labour status, current use of psychotropic medication, and the treatment modality they received. Experiencing cognitive conflicts had a slightly detrimental influence on happiness which, in addition, was negatively correlated with depression severity and psychological distress, and positively with global functioning. Negative self-evaluation and perceived self-isolation showed also a significant association with happiness among participants with depression, whereas having a negative view of others was relevant only for individuals suffering both depression and fibromyalgia syndrome. In turn, only among participants in the non- clinical group, higher levels of happiness were associated with more polarised and unidimensional thinking, and a weak relationship was also observed between the level of happiness attributed to their parents and their own. In general, participants construed being happy as similar to being cheerful, good, and hard-working, and at the same time very different to being sad, bad, and embittered. We also observed a tendency in all participants to construe disliked persons as not happy, while individuals with depression construed themselves similarly as not happy. Finally, increases in happiness with therapy were associated with higher resolution of cognitive conflicts, with more unidimensional thinking, and with improvements in depression severity, psychological distress, global functioning, negative self-evaluation, and perceived self-isolation. To our knowledge, this thesis constitutes the first study analysing happiness in depressive disorders from a constructivist perspective, which pays especial attention to individuals’ identity and personal meanings. In addition, our results contribute to estimate the effect of psychotherapy for depression in happiness, for which previous data was scarce. Overall, with this thesis we provide evidence for the role of several clinical and cognitive indicators in the experience of happiness, such as psychological distress or interpersonal construct differentiation, and highlight happiness as a relevant focus of work that may be incorporated to the treatment of depression.

Iredale, Adrian Steven, and i@iredalepedersenhook com. "Constructed Isolation." RMIT University. Architecture & Design, 2009. http://adt.lib.rmit.edu.au/adt/public/adt-VIT20090505.155318.

Full text
Abstract:
Constructed Isolation investigates the development of a collection of architectural devices and operations that respond to and have evolved from the specific nature of residential suburban Perth, Western Australia. These devices explore the potential for ambiguity to create space that transforms the occupant from being a passive observer into a dynamic participant. It collates a collection of projects by iredale pedersen hook architects and examines the devices under the thematic concerns of geometry, place, time and craft. The Masters Thesis identifies the potential for Perth's geographic isolation to manifest as a positive construct, developing a unique architecture that opportunistically reinterprets past traditions to create individual environments. 'Constructed Isolation' is an ambitious idea where identity may begin with the individual dwelling and collectively evolve to create a constellation of considerable influence. It demonstrates how these devices may result in new propositions for suburbia, how big ideas with small-scale projects and a little irrational joyousness may contribute to or at least aspire to create change. These small projects will be viewed as a continuation of Perth's 'Heroic Period of Modernism', the fertile and ambitious but incomplete project from the 1950s and '60s. This will also focus on the development and change that occurred as a result of the reflective practice process, while identifying potential opportunities for the future.

Petit, Barbara. "Autour du lambda-calcul avec constructeurs." Phd thesis, Ecole normale supérieure de lyon - ENS LYON, 2011. http://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-00662500.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
The first part of the delimitation of the specific guarantees shows the preponderance of the decennial liability. The guarantee for perfect acheivement only excludes the ten year and the two year guarantee when the damage is visible and noted. The two year guarantee is confined to the ten year guarantee. The second part of the delimitation between the specific guarantees and the liabilities found in the common contractual law establishes the prdominance of the specific guarantees and therefore puts into effect the decennial guarantee. The predecennial liability, the liability for intermdiary damages, lack of conformity and serious fault are all confined to the specific guarantees. Only the liability of the manufacturers under article 1792-4 and the decennial guarantee of the technical controler whitch are applicable in few cases, increase the application of the common contractual law
