Full textThe results of a study that involved the creation of knowledge bases of concepts from large, operational textual databases are reported. Two East-bloc computing knowledge bases, both based on a semantic network structure, were created automatically using two statistical algorithms. With the help of four East-bloc computing experts, we evaluated the two knowledge bases in detail in a concept-association experiment based on recall and recognition tests. In the experiment, one of the knowledge bases that exhibited the asymmetric link property out-performed all four experts in recalling relevant concepts in East-bloc computing. The knowledge base, which contained about 20,O00 concepts (nodes) and 280,O00 weighted relationships (links), was incorporated as a thesaurus-like component into an intelligent retrieval system. The system allowed users to perform semantics-based information management and information retrieval via interactive, conceptual relevance feedback.

Full textAs a part of this thesis, we exceed the description of web services to consider their structure as networks (i.e. similarity and interaction web service networks). We propose methods based on patterns, topic models and formal concept analysis, to improve the quality of discovered services. Three contributions are then proposed: (1) diversified services discovery, (2) services recommendation and (3) consistency of detected communities. Firstly, we propose modeling the space of web services through networks. To discover the diversified services corresponding to a given query, we propose a probabilistic method to diversify the discovery results based on relevancy, diversity and service density. In case of complex requests, it is necessary to combine multiple web services to fulfill this kind of requests. In this regard, we use the interaction web service network and the diversity notion in graphs to identify all possible services compositions. We also propose a new hybrid recommendation system based on both content and collaborative filtering. Its originality comes from the combination of probabilistic topic models and pattern mining to capture the maximal common semantic of a set of services. Finally, instead of processing individual services, we consider a set of services grouped into service communities for the recommendation. We propose in this context, a new method combining both topology and semantics to evaluate the quality and the semantic consistency of detected communities, and also rank the detection communities algorithms

Full textSyftet är att undersöka några gymnasieelevers visade kunskaper i geometri med fokus på konstruktion och begreppsanvändning samt den undervisning som erbjuds eleverna inom området. Elevernas hem används som utgångspunkt. Eleverna ska utifrån en teckning, som de själva ritat, och ett fotografi beskriva hemmet. De matematiska begrepp som eleverna använder analyseras. Analysverktyget bygger på van Hieles kvalitativa kunskapsnivåer och Blooms Taxonomi. Undersökningen genomfördes på en gymnasieskola i Kenya. Fyra utvalda elever intervjuades. Lektionsobservationer genomfördes i syfte att få förståelse för hur elevernas undervisningssituation ser ut och få exempel på hur undervisningen bedrivs. Slutligen intervjuades två av elevernas lärare. Eleverna har goda kunskaper på nationella prov men undersökningen visar att när dessa kunskaper skall överföras till något utanför lektionssalen stöter eleverna på problem. De har svårt att uppskatta längdenheter och svårt att jämföra skala. Det kommer också fram att deras undervisning är ganska monoton. Mycket tid läggs till att läraren undervisar eleverna framme vid tavlan eller att eleverna jobbar med uppgifter i sin övningsbok. Enligt variationsteorin, som beskrivs i arbetet, skulle elevernas kunskaper ges möjlighet att fördjupas om de geometriska objekt som skall förstås varieras. Denna variation erbjuds inte eleverna i nuläget.

Full textWith the objective to argue the importance of the Geography Learning and Education Methodologys, we will base the subject on the genetic psychology theoretical chain, endorsing the understanding of the construction process of concepts by the pupils, as well as the systematization of studious of the Geography Area who treat the referring subjects to the geographic education. The central hypothesis is that when Geography contents are worked in an articulated way inside of a didactic sequence, that contemplates basic procedures to guarantee the pupil involvement in the learning proposal, sequence in which are used diverse didactic instruments, showing different types of contents, linked as a context in the project body, providing the pupil involvement, as well as benefiting the learning process, due to the placing of the pupil in a situation of learning demand, becoming it significant at the same time. To allow us the work results verification as this, we will base the study on a empirical researches done in two schools, one public and other private, with the Basic Learning pupils, based on objectives and methodological options used. We also evidenced that the pupils social condition is less expressive for the learning process, what corroborates with the estimated ones of that the education methodology is responsible, significantly, for the success of this process.

Full textSystematisk granskning av forskningsmanuskript är en vanlig procedur där forskningsstudier inom ett visst område klassificeras och struktureras på ett metodologiskt sätt. Denna process innefattar en omfattande granskning och sammanförande av vetenskapliga mätvärden och attribut för manuskriptet, såsom citat, typ av manuskript eller publiceringsplats. Framställning och kartläggning av relevant publikationsdata är uppenbarligen en mycket mödosam uppgift om den utförs manuellt. Avsikten med automatiseringen av processen för denna typ av systematisk kartläggning är att minska den mänskliga ansträngningen, och den tid som krävs kan på så sätt minskas. Syftet med denna avhandling är att automatisera datautvinning och stegen för kartläggning vid systematisk granskning av studier. Den manuella processen ersätts av avancerade grafmodelleringstekniker för effektiv kunskapsrepresentation, liksom avancerade maskininlärningstekniker som syftar till att lära maskinen dessa representationer. Detta automatiserar så småningom denna process genom att karakterisera publikationerna beserat på vissa subjektiva egenskaper och kvaliter som ger granskaren en snabb god översikt över varje forskningsstudie. Den slutliga modellen är ett inlärningskoncept som förutsäger dessa subjektiva egenskaper och dessutom behandlar den inneboende konceptuella driften i manuskriptet över tiden. Olika modeller utvecklades och undersöktes i denna forskningsstudie för utvecklingen av inlärningskonceptet. Resultaten visar att: (1) Diagrammatiskt resonerande som uttnytjar moderna grafdatabaser är mycket effektiva för att fånga den framställda kunskapen i en så kallad kunskapsgraf, och gör det möjligt att vidareutveckla koncept som kan läras med hjälp av standard tekniker för maskininlärning. (2) Neurala nätverksmodeller och ensemblemodeller överträffade andra standard maskininlärningstekniker baserat på utvärderingsvärdena. (3) Inlärningskonceptet kan detektera och undvika konceptuell drift baserat på F1-poäng och omlärning av algoritmen.

Full textIn opposition to a. Widespread opinion that considere Newton to have founded rational mechanics by leaning on the works of Galileo. Kepler and Huygens, and then rejecting "Cartesian physics", this thesis sheds new light on the construction, of classic mechanics. Indeed. In this work we are interested in the epistemological obstacles that scholars of the XVIth and XVIIth centuries met during the elaboration of the concepts and the key principles of physics. These will serve at the end of the XVIIth century to build the axioms of Newtonian mechanics. We demonstrate, from a historical and critical reading, that the theoretical foundations of modem mechanics are elaborated during the conceptual controversy pitting Descartes against Newton on the issue of circular movement, From this content, the great English scientist introduces his notion of '"absolute" space as that which guarantees the "|aw of inertia". From this axiom, Newton can organize all the essential concepts of his theory. This concerns essentially the concept of "force" and the notion of "mass". The latter being essential to the quantification of "forces", which are the heart of Newtonian theory. Beyond the difficulties of a mathematical and physical order that are proper to Newtonian theory, our work allows us to bring to light the inessential character of "absolute" space, ''inertia" and "centrifugal force", thus demonstrating the paradox between the operational dimension of a theory and the ontological status of concepts it uses

Este trabalho objetivou investigar, no cotidiano escolar de crianças de turmas do Ensino Fundamental I em uma escola da rede pública no município de Vitória da Conquista (BA), a relação dos Jogos com a construção dos conceitos Matemáticos. Este estudo de caráter qualitativo tem como respaldo teórico diversos autores, cujas produções trazem contribuições quanto aos Jogos e ao ensino da Matemática: Boyer (1974), Brenelli (1996), Brougère (2000), Chateau (1987), D‘Ambrósio (1998),Huizinga (2007), Kishimoto (2007), Kamii (2003a), Machado (1991a), Piaget (1975),Santos (2000), Vygotsky (1984), entre outros. Do ponto de vista metodológico, privilegiou-se a observação in loco, com registro fotográfico, entrevistas com as educadoras das turmas selecionadas para a pesquisa e um grupo focal, analisando como se estabelece a relação dos Jogos com o Ensino da Matemática. Destaca-se neste estudo a relação existente entre os Jogos e sua função pedagógica de aprendizagem no ensino da Matemática no contexto escolar, apresentando reflexões conceituais em torno desta relação. O estudo proporciona a compreensão da Matemática vivenciada em sala de aula, bem como possibilita a reflexão dessas educadoras sobre suas práticas pedagógicas. A análise dos achados da pesquisa possibilitou a identificação da importância pedagógica dos Jogos no Ensino da Matemática e sua contribuição na construção de conceitos nessa área, permitindo, também, a reflexão sobre a forma como os Jogos são trabalhados em sala de aula, onde, muitas vezes, são aplicados como jogos de exercícios e não como Jogos de construção.

Full textModern environmental law appeared in France in the 1960s. It emerged empirically in response to major ecological disasters and intervened in the most diverse fields to set up legal safeguards to limit the environmental degradation. The law was then fragmented, technical and usually constituted a mere plating of conventional legal mechanisms and concepts on a new object: the environment. The lack of coherence and the construction of the law was gradually mitigated by the assertion of principles, the enactment of a Code and the consecration of the Constitutional Charter of the Environment. In addition, as the reforms proceed, law is being built around new concepts. Ecological concepts, previously qualified as insufficient to understand the environment, are supplemented by taking into account, for instance, ecosystem concepts, ecological processes or ecological solidarity. A conceptual dimension of environmental law emerges in positive law with the flagship notions of the common heritage of humanity, sustainable development, precaution, irreversibility, capable of gathering scattered pieces and asserting the maturity of environmental law. The recent conceptualization of environmental law is part of a more complete construction and a simplification and generalization of the subject matter

Full textThe purpose of this dissertation is to study how scientific conceptions are constructed in the course of experimental activities in physical sciences by young children at school. The study is based on three principal hypotheses: a) The formation of concepts and notions depends on invariant elements. b) The elaboration of thought results from personal reflections, actions and exchanges all anchored in a social dynamic process. c) Representations reveal and organise modes of thinking and their actualisation. In the first stage, the dissertation focuses on the formation of the notion of concept: from the evidencing of invariants to a stable conceptual architecture. Next, it presents the questions raised by the notion of learning and the expected achievement of the learner’s autonomy. Then, it develops a theory of representation, considering the question of the constitution and realisation of knowledge. In a second stage, the dissertation conducts its experimentations within the framework of an observation of classroom situations, the conversion of concrete situations into interpretable data being based on the phenomenological hypothesis from the point of view of constructivist epistemology. One situation refers to the theme of shade, the other to that of electricity: both evidence a complex process of cognitive elaboration, giving rise to conceptions based on a set of invariants. The representations thus reveal and structure the processes of thought. While « childish » items (R1) prove to be numerous, there also often emerge « rationalising » items (R2), either image-based or resting on internal dynamics. Finally, the dissertation demonstrates, in a still empirical way, how certain item combinations evince, so to speak before our very eyes, the child’s process of thinking in action — i.e. « enaction » in the Varela sense of the word
Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit der Konstruktion von wissenschaftlichen Konzepten im Verlauf von physikalischen Experimenten ,die Schüler im Unterricht durchführen. Sie stützt sich dabei auf drei Hypothesen. Die Bildung von Konzepten und Begriffen strukturiert sich um Invarianten. Die Erarbeitung eines Gedankens ergibt sich aus der Verbindung von eigenständigen Überlegungen, von Handlungen und von in sozialer Dynamik verankertem Austausch. Repräsentationen zeigen Modalitäten des Denkens und ihre Aktualisierung auf und organisieren sie. Diese Arbeit fokalisiert sich zunächst auf die Ausbildung des Konzeptbegriffs: vom Erfassen von Invarianten hin zu einer stabilen Konzeptarchitektur. Dann geht sie auf die Fragestellungen des Lernbegriffs ein und auf die Perspektive der Autonomie des Lernenden. Schließlich stellt sie die Repräsentationstheorie dar und fragt nach der Ausformung und der Offenkundigkeit der Erkenntnis. Im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit werden die Experimente in Form von Beobachtungen in der Schule ausgewertet. Dabei beruht die Umwandlung von erlebten Situationen in verwertbare Daten auf der phänomenologischen Hypothese einer konstruktivistischen Epistemologie. Ein Experiment beschäftigt sich mit dem Schatten, das andere mit dem Thema Elektrizität. Sie belegen eine komplexe kognitive Erarbeitung, die zu Konzepten auf der Grundlage von Invarianten führen. Durch Repräsentationen werden die Gedankengänge offensichtlich und strukturiert. Auch wenn es zahlreich „kindliche“ Item (R1) gibt, werden „rationalisierende“ Item (von R2) oft mit Hilfe einer „bildgebenden“ Repräsentation (R1?R2) oder einer internen Dynamik (R2?R2) freigesetzt. Auf noch empirische Weise zeigt diese Arbeit schließlich wie gewisse Kombinationen von Item sozusagen unter unseren Augen die Entstehung des Gedanken beim Schüler aufzeigen: eine Enaction im Sinne von Varela
Esta tesis centra su objeto en el campo de la construcción de concepciones científicas en el curso de actividades experimentales en ciencias físicas conducidas en medio escolar por alumnos. Se apoya sobre tres hipótesis mayores. La formación de los conceptos y de nociones se estructura alrededor de elementos invariantes. La elaboración del pensamiento resulta de la conjunción de reflexiones, propias acciones e intercambios anclados en una dinámica social. Las representaciones descubren y organizan las modalidades de pensamiento y su actualización. En un primer tiempo la tesis se concentra en la formación de la noción de concepto: del reconocimiento de invariantes hacia una arquitectura conceptual estable. Luego expone las preguntas que plantea la noción de aprendizaje y la perspectiva de autonomía del novato. Luego presenta la teoría de la representación y plantea la cuestión de la constitución y la puesta en evidencia del conocimiento. En un segundo tiempo, la tesis inscribe sus experimentaciones en la observación de situaciones escolares basada la hipótesis fenomenológica en una epistemológica constructivista, la condición de la transformación de situaciones vividas en datos explotables. Una sobre el tema de la sombra, otra en lo de la electricidad, dan testimonio de una elaboración cognitiva compleja de donde nacen concepciones sobre la base de invariantes, las representaciones permiten descubrir y estructurar aproches de pensamiento. Si los “ítem” infantiles (R1) son numerosos, unos “ítem” “ racionalizantes (de R2) se desprenden a menudo llevados por una representación llena de imágenes (R1?R2), o en una dinámica interne (R2?R2). Full textENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study investigates the manner in which the concept of communication is discursively constructed in a South African insurance company. The company recently underwent a merger which, according to the literature, should increase its awareness of communicative practices. The thesis builds on recent theoretical developments in organisational studies, more specifically, the linguistic turn. The focus falls on the way in which organisational communication is constructed by implementing the analytical tools of thematic analysis and discourse analysis. All of the participants in this study were involved with the merger that the company underwent. The sample of twenty-three participants included eighteen employees who took part in an electronic survey questionnaire and five employees who were individually interviewed. Additionally, documents concerning the merger were analysed to reveal the way in which the company’s organisational communication is constructed by managers. During the data collection, participants were questioned about their perspectives of organisational communication and organisational culture with regard to the merger. The data strongly shows that communication is generally not considered an important aspect in an organisation during the merging process. Interestingly, when participants’ attention is, however, drawn to specifically the concept of communication, a mechanistic view of communication is presented with only selected communicative practices considered as ‘communication’. The analysis further indicates changing communicative practices in the newly merged company. In conclusion, this study argues that organisations, especially in a merging context, can benefit from a greater awareness regarding the importance of organisational communication. Further linguistic research in the form of organisational studies in this regard is suggested.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie studie ondersoek die wyse waarop die konsep van kommunikasie deur diskoers gekonstrueer word in ʼn Suid-Afrikaanse versekeringsmaatskappy. Hierdie organisasie het onlangs ʼn amalgameringsproses ondergaan wat volgens die literatuur behoort te lei tot ʼn toename in bewustheid van kommunikatiewe praktyke en veroorsaak dat die konteks ʼn kardinale element in die navorsing is. Hierdie tesis bou op onlangse teoretiese ontwikkelings in organisatoriese studies, met ‘n spesifieke fokus op diskoers en taal (die ‘linguistic turn’). Die fokus val op die manier waarop organisatoriese kommunikasie gekonstrueer word deur die analitiese metodes van tematiese analise en diskoersanalise te implementeer. Al die deelnemers in hierdie studie was betrokke by die amalgamering van die maatskappy. Die steekproef van drie-en-twintig deelnemers sluit agtien werknemers in wat aan die elektroniese opname deelgeneem het en vyf werknemers waarmee individuele onderhoude gevoer is. Dokumente aangaande die amalgamering is addisioneel geanaliseer om sodoende die wyse waarop die maatskappy se organisatoriese kommunikasie gekonstrueer word deur bestuurders, aan die lig te bring. Gedurende die data-insameling is deelnemers ondervra aangaande hulle perspektiewe op organisatoriese kommunikasie en organisatoriese kultuur ten opsigte van die amalgamering. Die data dui daarop dat kommunikasie oor die algemeen nie beskou word as ʼn belangrike aspek van ʼn organisasie tydens die amalgameringsproses nie. Tog, wanneer die deelnemers se aandag daarop gevestig word en hul gevra word om spesifiek te fokus op die konsep van kommunikasie, word ʼn meganiese uitkyk van kommunikasie voorgestel met slegs geselekteerde kommunikatiewe praktyke wat as ‘kommunikasie’ beskou word. Die analise lig verder die idee van veranderlike kommunikatiewe praktyke in die nuwe geamalgameerde maatskappy uit. Ter opsomming voer hierdie studie aan dat organisasies, veral in ʼn amalgameringskonteks, baat kan vind by ʼn groter bewustheid omtrent die belangrikheid van organisatoriese kommunikasie. Verdere linguistiese navorsing in organisatoriese studies in hierdie verband word voorgestel.

Full textVolvo CE i Hallsberg, Sverige är specialiserat på produktion av hytter för entreprenadmaskiner. Organisationen använder en enkellinje metod (blandad-modellmontering), där alla hytter för olika produkter monteras på samma huvudlinje. Operationerna på huvudlinjen är inte standardiserad för alla produkter. Framtidsvisionen för företaget är att etablera fiskbensfabrikskonceptet, där mångfalden införs i delflöden och variationen minskas påhuvudlinjen. Detta är främst för att minska balanseringsförlusterna och så småningom minska anläggningens totala genomströmningstid. Examensarbetet fokuserar på en ny produkt som kallas Next Gen Cab. Dessa hytter är utformade för att stödja fiskbensfabrikskonceptet. NextGen-hytterna består av fysiska moduler som ger olika kundfunktioner, men är utformade med standardkopplingar och verktygspunkter. De följer den gemensamma arkitekturstrategin. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att utveckla ett monteringsupplägg för framställning av frontmodulen inom next gen hytter, och undersöka lämplig materialmatningsteknik. Arbetet fokuserar också på övergångsfasen, som består av produktion av både befintliga och NextGen-hytter. Metoden som används för arbetet inkluderar förståelse för det aktuella tillståndet för att bestämma möjligheterna att använda den befintliga uppställningen. Rapporten förklarar likheter mellan delar och processer för de befintliga hytterna och Next Gen-hytterna vilket hjälper till att utveckla en monteringsuppställning genom linjebalansering. Två materialförsörjningskoncept har utvecklats och ett ramverk har skapats för delpresentation vid Point of-Use. Detta följs av en jämförelse av koncepten baserat på faktorer som ”kittnings”-tid, antal anställda, aktievärde och nödvändiga investeringar. Koncepten utvärderas och utmynnar i en slutsats tillsammans med en rekommendation om hur företaget kan gå vidare när de nya produkterna introduceras.

Full textA dissertação se propõe a mostrar que através do modo como define os conceitos de sujeito e objeto a, Jacques Lacan resume o que há de mais radical nas operações de interpretação e de construção freudianas, apresentando uma epistemologia capaz de formalizar o funcionamento da interpretação, localizar seus impasses, seus limites, e justificar a necessidade da construção em psicanálise, dizendo também o que está em jogo nesta. Aponta afinidades entre a psicanálise e a matemática, e utiliza os recursos desta apoiando-se nos trabalhos de Frege, Badiou, Dedekind e Russel para a definição de sujeito e objeto a, identificando o primeiro com o zero e identificando o segundo tanto com o excesso que representam algumas operações na teoria dos conjuntos, quanto com o número irracional. Após, mostra a insuficiência da relação de simples oposição com as quais atrela inicialmente todos esses termos para superá-la através de uma relação quaternária – de implicação recíproca e de conjunçãodisjunção – que, subvertendo as referências espaciais e temporais usuais, se mostra mais afeita a dar conta da experiência analítica.
This dissertation intends to show that through the way that defines the concepts of subject and object a, Jacques Lacan summarizes what is most radical in the freudian operations of interpretation and construction, presenting an epistemology capable to formalize the operation of interpretation, to point their impasses, its limits, and to justify the need of the construction, also saying what is at stake in this. It points affinities between psychoanalysis and mathematics, and uses it resources, relying on the works of Frege, Badiou, and Russel Dedekin to define subject and object a, identifying the first with zero and identifying the second with both the excess that represent some operations in set theory, and also the irrational number. After, shows the insufficiency of the relationship of simple opposition that uses initially to link all these terms, to overcome it through a quaternary relationship – mutual implication and conjunction-disjunction – which, subverting the usual temporal and spatial references, is best suited for capture the nature of the analytical experience.

Full textThe aim of the thesis is the analysis of the relationship between trust, social cohesion and performance. Through a critical analysis of the use of the notion of trust in economics, the thesis proposes a conceptual development leading to a three-dimensional conception of trust, a strategic trust, a personal trust and a generalized trust. Using a principal component analysis and processing data from the fifth wave of World Values Survey, we propose an empirical translation of this concept. The indicators we have constructed are used to perform an econometric analysis of the determinants of trust in terms of personal characteristics and factors such as religious and civic and political engagement. Based on these indicators the thesis provides an analysis of confidence in France in comparison with other OECD countries and a typology based on networks between the three types of trust and their different levels. Finally we propose a conceptualization of the notion of social cohesion in terms of civic and political participation, trust and inter-systemic and respect for diversity. From a hierarchical ascending classification we propose a typology of "social cohesion" of the OECD countries. Finally we test econometrically the effect of various indicators of trust and social cohesion on the economic and social performance

Full textIn this work, we present our ideas about building concepts in mathematical modeling environment, according to Barbosa (2004). Our position in relation to teaching is that the teacher is not owner of all the knowledge and also can learn in the classroom. To defend this position we used Paulo Freire. The knowledge brought by the student to the classroom was associated to the concept image defined by Tall and Vinner (1981). These images represent everything we think about a concept, either mathematical or not. We built with students of a Popular Pre-University course, a mathematical modeling project in an investigative environment, defined by Skovsmose (2000) scenario for investigation. In this, we use the generator theme: sustainability. The students made an investigation on the topic, focusing on conscious consumption of water. The project was divided into two stages, in the first, we got the prior knowledge of students on the subject, while in the second, we develop the project, with the goal of bringing students to reflect and become aware of the importance of conscientious consumption of water. The students made an investigation on excessive water consumption of the house of one of the project participants and they saw that with simple measures is possible save the planet's water, and more, monetize such an economy. It was possible to develop and expand the conversion concepts of volume units, ratio and proportion, approximations and errors, and the study of graphs and tables. In the end, we propose a didactic sequence that can be followed or amended as teacher needs.

Esta tese trata da apropriação de princípios de respiração e permeabilidade seletiva dos materiais que constituem nossas moradias, a partir do uso do fibrosolo. A técnica de fibrosolo, derivada dos conhecimentos construtivos feitos com terra crua e habitualmente realizados no campo, é utilizada aqui em diversos experimentos com finalidade de promover a aproximação entre estes saberes tradicionais e a ocupação dos espaços urbanos. Sob esta ótica, seu aprimoramento a partir da metodologia desenvolvida no LILD da PUC-Rio, estabelece uma perspectiva de uso sustentável e adequado às condições de moradia das cidades.
The thesis concerns the appropriation of breathing and selective permeability principles of materials applied in the construction of our houses, departing from the usage of fibersoil. The fibersoil technique, derived from constructive knowledge of the country that usually adopts raw clay, is investigated in a series of experiments intending to promote an interaction between this traditional know-how and the occupation of urban spaces. From this framework, the enhancement of the process, based on the methodology developed in PUC-Rios LILD - Laboratory of Investigation in Living Design, establishes a perspective of sustainable usage adequate to the citys housing conditions.

Full textThe research field of this work is Industrial Engineering. This paper presents a study made to improve tomorrow’s automobile cabin habitability. It is focused on showing the influence on car-interior design by today’s home-interior design. The objective of this work is to propose a tool intended to help automobile designers to introduce home architectural construction principles into the car’s cabin design to improve its habitability. In our experimental phase we adopted principles of the method of analysis of the joint tendencies such as mappings and boards of categorization. This step showed that car designers have been increasingly using the home architectural construction principles on the car’s cabin conception design. Our research took into account the opinion of experts in both areas: architecture and design. In this way, we can be certain that the home and the automobile share the same criteria of habitability. We could also confirm that home architectural principles have a positive impact on the improvement of the habitability criteria in space design of the automobile’s cabin. This work opens a research line to analyze the influence of different areas in automobile design, such as aeronautics and electronics. This study can also show the inverse perspective of how car design can eventually have an impact on the future home design
