Abstract:
Stone roof coverings have existed for hundreds of years now, but their application in contemporary representative architecture is quite different than it was in former times, and accordingly the underlying constructional details are much more complicated. The main role of the roof in today's architecture is to emphasize the abstract building volume and its homogeneity. The design (visual appearance) has priority over constructional considerations, while at the same time requirements for thermal insulation and the watertight buildup of the building envelope are rising. This is a big challenge for the design of the constructional details, since traditional methods do not apply anymore: almost all of the water gets under this exterior cladding where a completely waterproof underlayer is needed. Therefore a new type of constructions is borne. In this article I try to present innovative constructional alternatives for stone cladded roofs and try to define guidelines for their planning. These alternatives were created and refined based on analysis of historical and contemporary examples, the examination of the specific conditions and requirements that affect cladded roofs, their expected performance over their life-span, the difficulties that arise under construction and my work experience. I created seven groups, according to the method for fixing the individual stone elements, since this is the detail that most affects the buildup of the underlying structure. A new approach is needed with these unconventional constructions, with a much more detailed inventory of every little feature of the building in question. But since these features vary violently with the architectural conception the exact constructional solutions are usually unique as well.

Abstract Properly executed renovation and adaptation of a grade listed property not only ensures its constructional safety, but may also highlight the object’s historical value. Taking into consideration various factors, such as divergence of interests, or technical and legal determinants, it is safe to say that the renovation and adaptation of grade listed properties for new purposes is a complex process. The authors of the paper wish to discuss the problem of renovation based on selected properties, with special regard to constructional solutions for foundations. The presented examples will illustrate the issue of foundation enhancements resulting from the adaptation of buildings for new purposes. Through individual constructional solutions, such as jet grouting, it was possible to ensure the stability of degraded properties and safe transfer of increased values of usage load.

Abstract:
AbstractThe possibility of construction disputes can be reduced, but they cannot be avoided due to the uncertain and risky nature of the building industry. Conflicts between construction parties often have very unfavourable effects, such as cost increases, poor construction quality and time extension in the schedule. Lots of studies have been carried out in order to try and avoid these disagreements. However, there are no common resolution tools or techniques due to the improving conditions and scope of contracted works. Advanced methods and dispute reasons should be fully monitored and updated for the applicable solutions. This paper discusses the current major constructional dispute reasons in Turkey. The questionnaire method was applied within the scope of this study. The questionnaire documents were randomly distributed to 80 contractors to analyse major dispute reasons in Turkey. Analysis of the questionnaire results indicates that the major current dispute causes are poor quality of performed works, delays in progress payments, inefficient site management, poorly written contracts and design mistakes.

The long-time support of the grant scheme from the Ministry of Culture allows to get a fair amount of different data related to individual buildings and structures, which enables to carry out the in-depth research. In terms of their conservation and maintenance with an effort to extend their lifetime (the oldest known historical trusses in Slovakia are those of the 13th century), it is necessary to look into the microclimate impact of the under-roof space on wooden roof structures as well as to monitor the contemporary constructional and technical condition of a roof structure itself. The suitable microclimate in the under-roof space is influenced by a number of marginal conditions, constructional solutions of roof details, proper space ventilation etc

Abstract:
Abstract Most scholars agree that grammatical borrowing is a serious obstacle to syntactic reconstruction, but to date there have been few proposed solutions to this methodological conundrum. In this paper I propose a method, couched in a constructional view of language, for mitigating the problem of borrowing in syntactic reconstruction. The method begins with the reconstruction of partially schematic constructions, whose phonological material can be tested for cognacy. Fully schematic reconstructions are then achieved via generalizations made over sets of reconstructed constructions. I exemplify the effectiveness of this method by applying it to two pieces of grammar from the Sogeram languages of Papua New Guinea: clause chain nominalization and the desiderative construction. The method allows the reconstruction of the former, but identifies the latter as a likely grammatical borrowing and therefore not reconstructable to Proto-Sogeram.

The structure of the building has been described with great emphasis on the construction of the covering suspended on cable girders in combination with original architecture was an extremely bold constructional solution of those times. The main part of this work includes results of research from force measurements conducted in tendons realized in the present year, that is in 2019, together with their analysis with reference to archival results from research conducted in the years 1971, 1978, 1985, 1990 or 2006. Particular attention is drawn to the fact, that despite the passage of time, the elaborated method for measurements and measurement devices used for research has not changed across the years and still allows to obtain the relevant picture of the construction’s performance. The obtained results have shown that the assumptions adopted for the then innovative solutions were received correctly, and the renovation works in the scope of roof covering significantly disburdened the construction, allowing a considerable safety reserve despite its over half-century exploitation.

Abstract:
Recently, many types of constructional steels have been often exposed to severely corrosive environments due to acid rain with increasing environmental contamination. To control corrosion problems, a painting protection method has been widely applied to numerous constructional steels on land as well as offshore. Therefore, development of anti-corrosive paint with good quality of corrosion resistance is very important from an economical perspective. In this study, four types of anti-corrosive paint were coated to test specimens, and then, were immersed in various salt solutions (0.1, 3 and 9% NaCl solution) for 11 days. Corrosion resistance of these samples by effect of osmotic pressure with various salt concentration was investigated with electrochemical methods such as measurement of corrosion potential, impedance and corrosion current density. Corrosion current density of these samples submerged in 0.1% NaCl solution exhibited highest value than those immersed in 3% and 9% NaCl solutions because water, dissolved oxygen and chloride ion etc. is easily to invade towards inner side of coating film due to increasing osmotic pressure compared to 3% and 9% NaCl solutions. However, corrosion current densities of all samples in the case of submerged in 9% NaCl solution exhibited higher values compared to 3% NaCl solution. Thus, a large amount of chloride ion dissolved in 9% NaCl solution plays a more critical role in corrosion behavior of coated steel rather than osmotic pressure. Consequently, the corrosion mechanism between coated steel and bare steel plates is different from each other because of presence of osmotic pressure between salt solution and coating film of coated steel plate. As a result, corrosion resistance of tcoated steel plate may be depend on the osmotic pressure as well as salt concentration

Retail units built in Slovakia after the war have continued in the tradition of the functionalist pre-war production, where the emphasis was on the rational operation. Their solutions: disposition-spatial, material-construction and operational were determined by socio-economic and political conditions of a totalitarian regime. Directional management of construction has been focused on building-up sale units in central urban areas, in areas of newly-formed residential dwellings and conditions of rural settlements. Insufficient design capacities led to the creation of typified designs. Sterile cubic solutions conditioned by building-material base of society were reflected in the austere architectural embodiment. The transformation process of the nineties significantly affected overall the retail structure. The possibility of entrepreneurship and free pricing encouraged vendors to build large numbers of different small-scale devices. Globalization tendencies with an internationalization of trade and the free movement of capital caused by the turn of the century building of major shopping centers with super and hypermarkets. The building was focused initially to the remote large settlements and later to wider centers of towns. Architecture of modern suburban retail buildings is marked by utility of function, low-floor construction, high volume mass. The paper presents the method of describing the conception of a future technical mean basing on the method of functional features. In order to determine the attributes which should characterize the functional features for the description of the conception of a technical mean it has been analyzed the different stages of the design-constructional-manufacturing process. Basing on the review of literature it was supposed the structure of the design-constructional-manufacturing process which includes the following stages: the need determination, designing, constructing, manufacturing and exploitation. In the process of designing-constructing-manufacturing one can distinguish models associated with each of its stages, and namely: the model related to designing (a conception), the model related to constructing (a construction), the model related to planning, the model related to manufacturing. The most important from mentioned models, in the terms of description of the conception of a technical mean, is the model related to the designing sub-process. It was assumed that the model related to the designing sub-process should include such information as: the structure of the system of a future technical mean (system of conjugations and transformations relationships), the design solutions of components of a technical system associated with the transformations relations, the design solutions of connections between components of s technical system mapping the established conjugations relationships between elements.

Abstract:
Piston combustion engines used for propelling vehicles have a significantly harmful impact upon people’s living environment. As a result, for many years now the development of combustion engines has been to a large extent defined by growing legal ecological requirements. New constructional solutions are being introduced, the conditions of working processes in engine cylinders are being changed, new solutions are being implemented in fuel feeding systems, air intake systems and fumes exhaust. The composition of conventional fuel is being modified, alternative fuels are being sought for and new types of powering systems are being developed. This paper presents the comparison of selected efficiency and ecological indicators of two engines having the same construction, but different in the type of powering and the method of controlling the process of supplying fuel and air into cylinders. One of the engines is Perkins 1104D-44TA, mechanically controlled and equipped with a feeding system with distributor injection pump. The second one is the Perkins 1104D-E44TA, electronically controlled, where fuel is supplied into the cylinders by means of the Common Rail system. During the tests, the engines operated according to two load characteristics. Hourly and specific fuel consumption as well as concentration levels of main components of exhaust fumes and smokiness have been iden-tified and compared.

Every building type action on a historic object should include recognition of character, age and the technology of constructional solutions. The conservator’s preservation can concern, and in some cases should concern the structural solutions. Such analysis are particularly difficult in the case of flat ceilings. Possibilities of historic as well as contemporary solutions of the structure, their origins, similarity in assumptions and materials and the ignorance of the historical technologies can lead to wrong conclusions. Conclusions can be wrong both in relation to the originality and the authenticity of solutions, and can lead to undesirable workings from the conservatory point of the view in the consequence.

Abstract:
The CAD/FEM systems enable the analysis and development of any constructional solutions. They are particularly effective for the complex technical means. In this regard, investigations are conducted to develop methodological concept for the design using the virtual environment [1,2,3,4]. This paper presents the solution basing on the proposed structure of the complex technical mean consisting of three components: structural system, drive system and control system. The structural system includes the carrying and functional elements. The drive system refers to the elements responsible for activating the functions of technical means. However, the control system is responsible for the implementation of the selected sequence of actions. Basing on such formulated concept it was presented the project of the powered roof supports with the strait-line mechanism. The work describes the results of the virtual analysis of the elaborated roof support construction. They are considering with the analysis of its functioning and with the fulfilment of the requirements consider with the human factors.

Abstract:
This paper presents the concept of the system adding designer work using fuzzy analysis of the notes of design requirements and solutions. Design requirements are generated basing on the proposed model of the technical mean life cycle. It includes three phases of life of a technical mean: its formation, its existence and its liquidation. In this perspective there are examined five general requirements associated with: the technical need, a man, the technical culture, the society and the environment. The design solutions are created basing on the concept of an universal structure of technical means. The structure of the system has following components: structural system, drive system and control system. Structural system is determined as the integrator of the whole structure of a complex technical mean. The drive system is secondary to the structural system. The third in the order of the systems is the control system. It is developed last so it must take into account the solutions developed for the structural system and the drive system. Generating constructional solutions is carried out in the three distinguished features of a construction: geometric, material and dynamic. The presented methodology is illustrated by the example of designing specific technical mean.

Abstract:
Machine tool rams are important constructional elements found on vertical lathes as well as on many other machines. In most cases, a machine tool ram constitutes an assembly with significant dynamic compliance that affects the machine’s ability to achieve stable cutting conditions. There are various solutions for increasing a machine tool ram’s stiffness and damping. This paper describes an innovative concept of a two-axial electromagnetic actuator for controlled vibration dampers with high dynamic force values. The described solution is purposefully based on the use of standard electric drives. As a result, the size of the actuator is easier to scale to the required application. The solution is designed as a spacer between the end of the ram and the head. The paper presents the actuator concept, construction design, current control loop solution and experimental verification of the controlled vibration damper’s function on the test ram in detail. The presented position measurement concept will enable the use of non-contact position sensors for motor commutation as well as for possible use in vibration suppression control. Applications can be expected mainly in the field of vibration suppression of vertical rams of large machine tools.

Abstract:
We expect comfortable conditions when staying in a room for a long period of time. Architectural and constructional conditions (including, in particular, thermal parameters, or radiation transmittance - for transparent elements), and installations in confrontation with external conditions shape the microclimate of rooms. The standards and trends in the development of construction technologies, especially in terms of energy efficiency, equipment and installation systems, the role and the parameters of comfort in the rooms of contemporary solutions have been presented. The classic technologies of boilers (including solid fuel) and natural ventilation are presented. Technologies regarding modern boilers are discussed, both on conventional fuels and biomass, heat pumps, ventilation units, as well as installation systems in terms of energy, ecology and economy. The microclimate parameters were analysed, which shape the comfort and possibilities of influencing them with a construction and installation technique. The paper presents partial results from the conducted research on the impact of weather conditions, thermal protection and building installation solutions on shaping the parameters of the internal environment.

Abstract:
This paper presents the possible effects and restrictions that may arise in the field of industrial construction due to compliance with relevant construction codes and regulations, as well as the ways they can be favourably handled in the design of industrial buildings. Designs should be based primarily on human design factors, while considering the human as the centre of the work environment. Design parameters should be described as a function of both the physical and psychosocial attributes of a person as well as the technical and economical aspects in the design of industrial construction. This paper is an examination of the connection that exists between design law (codes and regulations) and industrial construction. The relevant construction laws and regulations are described, including standards and codes of practice that designing and supervising engineers are obliged to observe. Possible solutions and consequences of development in the production, constructional, and ergonomic field of design are also discussed.

Abstract:
The functionalist villa Tugendhat in Brno is a first monument of modern architecture in the Czech Republic. This monument was registered in 2001 to the list of World Cultural and Natural Heritage by UNESCO. Among the most experts this building is usually regarded as a greatest work of German architect and designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The complete renewal of this monument was initiated due to unsatisfactory technical condition and because of the higher operational requirements. In this work we deal with the technical analysis of the villa Tugendhat interior furnishing, or more precisely with the structural analysis of its furniture joints. The goal of this work is to highlight the original construction and material solutions of the furniture in connection with the creation of production-technical documentation for the renewal. Project scope includes the complete constructional drawing documentation of the 53 pieces of furniture, documents relating to the surface treatment of the furniture, as well as documentation of manufacturing and constructional details. Described part of the project was prepared a few years ago by the Department of furniture, design and habitation. Nowadays, the project documentation is completed. Protracted legal disputes concerning this state contract still postpone the beginning of reconstruction of this monument.

Abstract:
Expansive soil is one of the most serious problems that face engineers during the execution of any infrastructure projects. Soil stabilization using chemical admixture is one of the most traditional and widespread methods of soil improvement. Nevertheless, soil improvement on site is one of the most economical solutions for many engineering applications. Using construction and demolishing waste in soil stabilization is still under research., The aim of this study is to identify the effect of using concrete demolishing waste (CDW) in soil stabilization. Serious tests were conducted to investigate the changes in the geotechnical properties of the natural soil stabilized with CDW. From the results, it is concluded that the swelling potential of the expansive soil reduced and dramatic increases in unconfined compressive strength (UCS) value up to 3 times of its original value was reported. The results indicate that CDW is an economical solution to be used in soil stabilization whereas it is a sustainable idea to recycle constructional wastes and solve the continued need for the more landfilling area.

Abstract:
Heat generation is a complex process of transformation of a specific type of energy into heat. During friction stir welding, one part of mechanical energy delivered to the welding tool is consumed in the welding process, another is used for deformational processes etc., and the rest of the energy is transformed into heat. The analytical procedure for the estimation of heat generated during friction stir welding is very complex because it includes a significant number of variables and parameters, and many of them cannot be fully mathematically explained. Because of that, the analytical model for the estimation of heat generated during friction stir welding defines variables and parameters that dominantly affect heat generation. These parameters are numerous and some of them, e. g. loads, friction coefficient, torque, temperature, are estimated experimentally. Due to the complex geometry of the friction stir welding process and requirements of the measuring equipment, adequate measuring configurations and specific constructional solutions that provide adequate measuring positions are necessary. This paper gives an overview of the process of heat generation during friction stir welding, the most influencing parameters on heat generation, constructional solutions for the measuring equipment needed for these experimental researches and examples of measured values.

The aim of this study is to show that there is orderliness in a piece of talk that is extremely complex and, in so doing, to explore the grammatical construction of naturally occurring, and contingently produced, utterances in Japanese interaction. First, I distinguish between unit-completeness and turn-completeness. Second, I introduce the notion of response-opportunity places to indicate those places in which although the ongoing talk is still both unit- and turn-incomplete, responses may be produced. These places are systematically used as loci for initiating solutions to various possible interactional problems, such as problems of hearing and understanding. Third, I examine different practices through which the speaker returns to the incomplete turn-constructional unit. The orderliness of the target talk is the result of the speaker’s systematic use of these places and practices.

Abstract:
Because stricter norms of emission of hazardous substances are being introduced every few years, machinery manufacturers are also forced to introduce various modifications to reduce emissions. To this end, systems aimed at optimising the process of fuel combustion and reducing the amount of hazardous compounds are being applied. Three tractors used in agriculture, with various functional solutions, were examined in this study. The effect of various systems on reduction of hazardous emissions and fuel consumption was determined. The tests were conducted during the ploughing with a 4-bottom swivel plough. The effect of the selective reduction (SCR) system with AdBlue liquid, the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, the particulate filter, the number of valves per cylinder and the type of a turbocharger in the engine’s inlet system were determined. It was observed during the tests that there were differences in fuel consumption and emissions depending on the constructional solutions applied in the tractors.
