Full textConstructivism is one of the main paradigms in contemporary social science. It is also one of the most controversials. This thesis aims to understand the genesis of constructivism, to discuss some of its arguments, and to analyse the reasons of its success. Two empirical researches have been conducted. The first took place at the Centre de sociologie de l'innovation, a constructivist research unit directed by Bruno Latour and Michel Callon. The purpose of this research was to analyse the cognitive norms that underly constructivism. We show that these norms are different from those underlying other sociological paradigms, and that they explain part of constructivism's specificity. The second research concerned the Internet-based fan communities of a movie called The Matrix. The directors of this movie claim to have been influenced by the constructivist philosopher Jean Baudrillard. Based on the data obtained, we try to understand the reasons why constructivism has had success among non-sociologists

Full textMy research topics focus on the social responsability of researchers, their involvement and political engagement, all the way from the construction of knowledge to its formulation (research aesthetic) and dissemination. As I study others' engagement and their legitimation strategies, I also aim at formulating mine: a constructivism that holds itself accountable for its creations. This thesis discusses the role of experts in democracy; it is written in French. I highly doubt that I am able to summarize it in English, just as I doubt that exclusively English-speaking readers would be able to understand the manuscript in French

Full textDoes our use of the Internet change the way we live, and think of, our relationships ? Many discourses have accompanied the emergence and the massive adoption of the media, predicting both the best and the worst individual and social outcomes. Although research in that field has not always avoided a prophetic inclination, it tends nowadays to emancipate itself from determinist issues, and to favour studies carried on actual uses. It is in this last perspective that we conceived our approach, questioning the link between Internet use and interpersonal relationships. This link however, is complex and can not be reduced to a one-way causality relation. It involves the appropriation of the media and the formation of the usage to which the user’s relationships participate, as well as the implications of the usage, through which these relationships can possibly be maintained and new ones initiated. Internet use and relationships are thus profoundly entangled in a co-defining relation. Moreover, this relation is actualized differently for each Internet user, depending on their own history, personality, and circumstances. This is why we have opted for a comprehensive method : based on ten interviews with different users, our study first aims at understanding their respective experiences of the web, then at joining them in a cross-analysis, in order to bring pieces of answer to the more fundamental and global issue of the relational dimension and implications of Internet mediated communication

Full textThe following research took place in the general framework of professional didadits, which aims at three objectives : (1) to understand the work in order to facilitate its completion by confronting the usual pardigms of professional didatics with a professionnal situation related to dynamic environments linked to the living, i. E. The setting up of a colza crop. (2) The results derived from this study were then used to establish a simulator of colza crop. (3)This simulator was finally tested, first with a group of professionals in order to check its reliability, and then with a second year class of students preparing a vocational training certificate in agriculture. Our study allowed us to put into evidence two types of organizers in the activity of farmers. These two types were then used as guide-lines in the perspective of a better understanding of the activity. The elaboration of a simulator brought us to a reflexive stand concerning the nalysis of the activity and required the elaboration of tricks for its realization and presentation. Finally, the test situations that we experimented proved the relaibility of the simulated models thanks to the play on temporality that they allow. The study led with students helped us determine different strategies of use and of reaction in front of these situations and opened the way to a deeper analysis of debriefing practices

Full textMy PhD work aims to answer the following question: What are the knowing processes and thinking dynamics of management consultants when solving ambiguous problems in the context of their everyday activity? For this research, ‘constructivism' has been chosen as both the theoretical framework and investigative methodological paradigm. In my literature review, ‘knowing' is considered from three different perspectives, whose conceptualisations are confronted: cognitivism, constructivism and situated cognition. As an investigative paradigm, constructivism is ‘relativist'. My dissertation work offers a conceptual synthesis on the ontological and epistemological assumptions of the constructivist paradigm as well as a reflection on their methodological and ethical consequences. A specific constructivist methodological design includes both a specification of the methodological choices relative to the observation and interpretation of phenomena (‘the observed systems') and a reflexive interpretation and reconstruction of the subjective decision processes underlying those methodological choices (‘the observing system', i. E. , the researcher herself). Consultants' thinking processes were studied via a six month, on-site, ethnographic investigation in an international management consulting firm. A case study puts in evidence the methodological and interactive dimension of knowing while a more focused interpretation questions the basis and value of consulting expertise. In conclusion, the main the research findings and the scientific usefulness of constructivism as a scientific theory and/or investigation paradigm for organization science are discussed

Full textAntidifferenciationnist sociology of science proclaims or describes the collapse of boundaries between science and industry. The archetype of this new heteronomical science would be the "entrepreneur researcher", whose "entrepreneurial spirit" would allow better communication with the economic world. Translated into the political sphere, this idea becomes a common "doxa". In reaction against the failure of foundationalist forms of philosophy, this antidifferenciationnism, often overlapping with social constructivism, relies on a radical and controversial epistemology. The aim of this work is to bypass this kind of metaphysical dispute, in order to permit a fruitful discussion of the question of science's autonomy. I propose several concepts whiçh are then used for analysis of data collected for 81 entrepreneur-researchers (supplemented by case studies). This empirical study demonstrates the limits of antidifferenciationnist theory

Full textThis research addresses the pluralization of feminist emancipation’s forms in France since the mid-1990s in light of the conflict between materialist and queer feminisms. We have taken as our starting point the hypothesis that the linkage between these two political theoretic discourses is possible since it actually takes place in the « queer-feminist » movement’s militant practices. We argue that this combination is meaningful and deserves to be better theorized since it carries with it a message of radicalism and inclusiveness. The alliance of the two approaches questions the definition of the feminist subject, and especially the formulation of a political unity which is not essentialist. We analyze the extent to which both the (counter-)hegemonic approach and the project of a radical, agonistic and plural democracy provide us with tools to answer this issue. Our argument runs as follow : the discourse of radical constructivism that results from the union between materialistic and queer feminisms should develop a hegemonic strategy regarding the conception of the political subject for two reasons. First, this strategy takes into account the plurality of the contingency of the social realm. Second, it aims at unifying and stabilizing the political « Us » in order to reverse the various material domination’s manifestations. Such a constructivist theory thinks of the political realm as an institution of the social realm and develops an understanding of politics as the organization of conflict in a situation of undecidability

Full textEvo Morales, leader of the Movimiento al socialismo (MAS), came to power on december 2005. His electoral victory, unequaled since the transition to democracy (53% of votes), has acquired a particular historical significance from the fact he is identified as Bolivia's first indigenous President. This research is based on two field works, mainly in La Paz and Sucre. The first field work took place when the MAS came to power, the second when the Constitutional Assembly took place. This has involved going to many political events, such as demonstrations and meetings, interviewing social leaders, ONG's workers, cadre partisan as well as rank-and-file members of the party. The field work has enabled me to comprehend the MAS's followers perspectives, and the « chains of concepts and narrative » (Daniel Cefaï) in which they circulate. As most ethnical parties, the MAS shows all the features of a mouvement-party (Benoît Rihoux). Built up from social movements, its legitimacy is based on commitment to implement their claims. Although the analysis of those genetical links makes the MAS comparable to many other political parties in Bolivia and elsewhere, we propose to grasp the specificities of this articulation, starting from the question of the rôle and influence of indigenous identity in the party.A distinction is then made between the reference to the party's indigenous identity and, further, to the way in which the MAS's party-factory is shaped by the indigenous political culture. This double-entry places our research in a discussion about the epistemological status of indigenous identity and constructivism in particular. The purpose of this research is to show that the MAS's indigenous dimension is not only an electoral strategy but a proper way of being in politics, and this should be taken into consideration to get a clear idea of the singularity of this party

Full textModern development conveys a relationship to the world dominated by a positivist approach. To build up a method of assessing sustainability that severs the ties with this dominant paradigm, we combined the systemic approach of human communications to the need to relocate economy. This resulted in the definition of three criteria regarding the elaboration of sustainability indicators: the paradigm underlying the assessment (systemic), their purpose (local management), and the indicators visibility (direct or from expert systems). In practice, the different ways to assess a "good" development hardly meet these three criteria. We therefore suggest a systemic approach as a conceptual framework to elaborate participatively indicators specific to each system of actors and its context. We have applied this method to French housing sector, which has enabled us to identify three major stakes for housing sustain-ability: the discrepancy of purposes between actors, the lack of visibility concerning flows and their impacts, and the focus on some aspects only of sustainability. Initiatives coming from civil society and having taken into account these three stakes helped us formalize concrete indicators, assembled in a "compass" aiming to assess "the sustainability systemic profile" of a housing project. Two case studies are presented in order to study the impact of a housing sustainability profile on its performances as well as the ability of institutional measures to encourage the construction of high sustainability profile housings

Full textThis study focuses on the concept of fosterage, referred to a number of traditional customs quite neglected by psychology and leading to long separations between a child and his/her biological parents. The present research aims, in particular, at giving a view of these customs in a Bambara context by using the constructionist paradigm of resilience. For this purpose, after deconstructing the representations and meanings underlying these phenomena as well as the dynamics of psychosocial risk and the vulnerability factors that they convey, we analyze the pathways to resilience of 15 children and young people fostered in a Malian rural community through the Draw-A-Family Test. The results show some analogies with a number of values fostered by the context of belonging but also the heterogeneity and creativity of individual pathways. The data collected confirm the importance of accounting for cultural elements in the evaluation of these practices in order to promote an integration of resilience models and a reconfiguration of the representations of parenthood and filiation within our societies
Reulier, Jocelyn. "Interactions verbales entre pairs et développement de la cognition chez des élèves en difficulté de compréhension en lecture." Nantes, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012NANT3009.
Full textRecent data indicates that a significant number of students at the end of primary school are not able to understand simple texts (MEN, 2011; PIRLS, 2006). Therefore, new school reforms have emphasized the importance of teaching reading comprehension in a social constructivist perspective and to develop metacognitive skills which are generally lacking in struggling readers (MELS, 2001; MEN, 2008). Following this perspective, the authors of the reciprocal reading model (Palincsar and Brown) have shown the relevance of verbal interactions between peers to develop metacognition. However, little research has attempted to understand how verbal interactions between peers can develop metacognition. In this research, the researcher intervened for sixteen sessions with five students in CM1 with reading comprehension difficulties. He initiated and supported the verbal interactions between peers to allow them to arrive at a metacognitive level. In a qualitative/interpretive perspective, he tried to understand the role of verbal interactions between peers in the metacognitive development. This research helps to understand the process of verbal interaction, such as metacognitive, between peers and to have better understanding of the scaffolding process lead with students

Full textHow can the desire in literature appear and grow up during the third degree of primary school? This study lead on ten year's old students, follows two objectives: to understand what is the desire in literature and to feed the didactic reflection based on the practices research. First of all, a survey in a school environment permitted to have a better view of the components of the desire in literature that can be felt or foreseen at elementary school. Based at the same time on the didactic theory and on the results of the first research, a literature class is then implemented. This French class from socio-constructiviste inspiration, that considers didactic practices and didactic surrounding, is it suitable to the desire in literature? This is the hypothesis of this research focused on four school children and about two complementary systems: a sub-construction approach of interpretation, including reading debates and an experience of free writing through the realisation of “literary books”. The study relies on students' writings and their comments during an interview. In the first system, a mobilization of the students in the work of interpretation is underlined, resulting in a "fulfilment" of the reading and/or a diversification of “incoming key” in the text. In the second one, the appropriation acts of literary texts throughout the books, the search of a euphoric connexion with the reader and the draft of a creator work are foreground

Full textAfter Hugo Chávez election as president of the Republic of Venezuela in 1998, a new Constitution was democratically adopted and a reforming process of the institutions begun. In this PhD, we study the changes that overcame in the field of education in the “Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela” since 1998. The purpose is to determine through a multidisciplinarymethod if, how much and in what conditions the educational politics of the governments ruled by Hugo Chávez follow the global political project of the Bolivarian Revolution, which is thought about as a transforming process of the Venezuelan society. First, we analyze the sociopolitical context in which are realized the educational reforms. Afterward, in thesecond chapter, we study the evolution of the constitutional, legal and administrative frames of this system during the last twelve years, after reminding its situation in 1998. Then, in the third chapter, we analyze how the pedagogical principles and practices of the “bolivarian” education are seen as decisive factors in order to accomplish the ongoing political project

Full textIn the context of an interdisciplinarity, this thesis analyses the socio-medical networks and the performance of communication within these networks. Following the precepts of constructivist epistemology, the observation of the scientific reality is not only based on the objective observance of the reality, but also on the experience-guided knowledge of the reality. Full textThis thesis is a study of diplomatic negotiation’s representations and the way these representations impact the decision to negotiate. Through a comparative analysis of the American foreign policy towards the nuclear programs of North Korea and Iran from 1993 to 2012, the role played by representational practices in the acceptance and the refusal to negotiate is enlightened, as well as their role in defining negotiation’s terms.A constructivist discourse’s analysis of the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations’ speeches allows to identify their security imaginary as an interpretative frame. American leaders grasped the complexity of North-Korean and Iranian nuclear issues through this interpretative frame and took action accordingly. However, the operationalization of their interpretations produced various practices regarding negotiation. The thesis challenges the identity consequences attributed to these practices by the American leaders for the United States, in terms of ontological security in the North-Korean case and in terms of maintaining the “we-ness” of the “international community” in the Iranian case. In doing so, the thesis suggests an understanding of the differences in the way the American administrations responded to North-Korean and Iranian nuclear issues as well as an understanding of their evolutions

Hannouz, Dominique. "L'entrée dans l'écrit au CP : étude de quelques stratégies." Toulouse 2, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008TOU20062.
Full textThis thesis aims at working out strategies of first grade children when beginning to spell. In a socioconstructivist approach, we are studying spelling strategies, on the one hand when a child learns under a didactic intervention, and on the other hand when a child learns within various didactic contexts. The first hypothesis is that a didactic intervention would help children from an experimental group understand more rapidly certain graphical characteristics peculiar to spelling than children from a control group not submitted to the intervention. The second hypothesis expressed is that the didactic context has an impact on the beginning of spelling. The first study analyses how a child uses its letter-name knowledge when spelling a word containing homophonous syllables (eg. Début = DBU). The results show that the use of letter names is a strategy widely spread at the beginning of first grade that decreases progressively during the year. The syllabic structure has an impact on this use. The syllables of VC (vowel consonant) structure are more coded using a letter name than the syllables with a CV structure. In addition, the didactic intervention enables children of the experimental group to give up earlier the use of letter names. The second study analyses the influence of homophonous sight words of certain syllables in a word (eg. Légume spelled LESGUM). The use of sight words is significant in the beginning of first grade, then diminishes throughout the school year. The phonic analogy enables the children to use the sight words to link speech and spelling. Additionally, rules independent from phonology also lead children to the use of those sight words. The last two studies examine the spelling of compound graphemes (eg. Route, chemin) within two contrasting didactic contexts : whole language and phonic classes. At the beginning of school year, whole language class children are more easily spelling compound graphemes using two letters than the ones of the phonic class. Then, at the end of first term, the results of the two classes are similar. Children of the phonic class provide as many compound graphemes (conventional or not) as the ones of the other class. We have then extended the study with the six weakest children of each class. The results demonstrate that the replies of the weakest children for the spelling of compound graphemes appear to be indeed linked to the didactic practices. Generally speaking, children of the whole language class produce more compound graphemes than the ones of the phonic context. Moreover, the impact of the didactic context can be clearly observed when analysing the single letter spellings, more frequent in the phonic class than in the whole language class

Full textThe aim of this research is to identify the contribution of sensemaking theory to the study of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Therefore, we propose to bring out the meaning that actors attribute to socially responsible actions. For that matter, we seek to highlight the variety of sensemaking process that can lead to a variety of CSR representations. Our qualitative study consists in exploring in depth the sensemaking process of CSR. We have used crossing methodological perspectives: a lexical analysis, a thematic content analysis and finally a cognitive maps analysis. The results suggest four classes of discourse on CSR: responsibility to stakeholders (SK) and stakeholder mapping; moral and ethical behavior; sustainable development, certification and reporting; framing and implementing the approach. These results show the need to consider five dimensions of the sensemaking process of CSR: triggers, enactment process, selection process, communication process and adaptation process. From this study appear also five perceptions’ types of the sensemaking process of CSR: the global managers’ perception, the perception of public enterprises and organizations managers, the perception of Tunisian enterprises and organizations belonging to the ISO 26000 promotion program managers, the perception of private multinationals managers, and the perception of the manager of the Global Compact principles program

(2004). Hence the generalization of CBA, enforced on behalf of a number of principles such as the consecrated fight against school failure, providing equal opportunities and the enhancement of humanistic and citizenship-related values, is nonetheless raising a number of issues relating to its relevance, feasibility and effectiveness in different contexts. The thorny epistemological aspect originating from the fragility of concepts and paradigms like competence (ies) and constructivism on which CBA is based, stands as perfect illustration of issues pertaining to politico-ideological as well praxeological issues. The present thesis aims, through a study of the implementation and the development of CBA as a “new education dogma” for teaching French at the secondary school level, HIRTT, N. (2009), at investigating the relevance, the effectiveness and even feasibility of CBA in the Algerian context. It also, attempts to rethink CBA’s epistemological, politico-ideological, and praxiological underpinnings following deconstruction stance. Full textThe institutional pressure of laws and associations, as well as the search for economic performance, combined with various expectations, create a gap of perception between the idea of an ideal policy and the reality of diversity felt by the actors within their organisation. This gap leads to forms of demotivation and demobilisation, unfavourable to the development of a diversity policy which would claim to be efficient. How could we actually limit the unavoidable slowdown of the diversity management? Once the reasons why the actors of an organisation such as Crédit Agricole S.A. are restrained in developing an inclusive type of diversity management are analysed, this thesis brings tangible solutions to manage diversity in a way which is closer from the actors’ expectations. From a triangulation of data analysis within the framework of a qualitative methodology, inclusion has not necessarily appeared as the actors’ main expectation. Participative observation, the main case study highlighted with 3 complementary cases, 55 interviews (15 about diversity + 40 related to the handicap dimension), allow thus to bring managerial propositions to meet the main expectation of the actors which is the need to dialogue, in the sense of talk. The first step involves identifying the actors likely to be demotivated in order to mobilize them by allowing them to speak again afterwards. Allow them to speak does not necessarily involves setting up formal procedures, but more precisely taking time to exchange, creating a sharing time and thus establishing a better quality of life at the workplace

Full textThis research is based on the ethnographic study of the day-to-day activities (observation and interviews) of several antiracist activist groups, and content analysis of their written productions. It focuses on antiracist groups from the Paris region : the Brigade anti-négrophobie, the Conseil représentatif des associations noires, the Parti des Indigènes de la République, the network Reprenons l’initiative contre les politiques de racialisation and the organization committee for the annual Journées contre l’islamophobie. Combining theoretical frames from the sociology of collective action and the sociology of race, gender and class relations, the thesis is centered on the analysis of the division of militant labour within those groups. The first aim is to explain how such mobilisations emerged, by replacing them in the particular political context of the early 2000’s and situating them within the previously established antiracist field ; but also by showing how this context interacts with the social trajectories of the activists. The second aim is to examine the effects of collective action on those who participate, or in other words, the products of antiracist action.Indeed, these collectives have been intiated in the 2000’s by French activists, « heirs » of the (post)colonial immigration. They participate in the struggle for (counter) hegemony regarding the definition of racism and antiracism in France. Thereby, antiracist mobilisation produces its own intellectuals, who themselves elaborate social theory. Moreover, the different forms of militant labour (intellectual/domestic/emotional, visible/invisible) constitute entries to study the ways in which social relations of power – mainly race, gender and class relations – manifest within the course of collective action, but also how they are being reshaped. Finally, these antiracist mobilisations also imply the use of racial categories as self-categorization. Fueled by the activists’ emotional labour, this process of identification opens the possibility for racialized minority groups to become a group or a class « for itself », or in other words, a process of communalisation

This work is based upon the theory of “the social construction of reality”, by Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann. They show how social sciences have to deal with a reality which has a dialectic relation with the knowledge we have about it, so, to understand the social reality, we have to understand how knowledge itself is produced and acquired. This theory should fit a special case study of social construction of the military mind in Brazil. To this study, a military school is considered, and to have a basic conception of the military mind, the classical work of Samuel Huntington, with an ideal type of that mind, is taken into account. This description is compared with the military ethic prescribed in the Brazilian Army. After Berger & Luckmann‟s theory is reviewed, a description of how a school constructs the typical military mind is provided. This work is intended to be a test to constructivism theory in a real, particular case of a field research.

Full textResearch analyzing the phenomenon of fiction is countless, but rare is the one that approaches it from the broad spectrum of what the ordinary subjects-actors name and qualify themselves, in the context of their daily lives, as being fictional or as a fiction. The starting point of this thesis lies precisely in this perspective, but more specifically in the context of commonsense knowledge — universe of the stabilized subjective and inter-subjective representations within the language — that the ordinary subjects-actors have on what they call fiction, in order to articulate from these a (constructivist and phenomenological) sociological understanding of the meaning, and the significance that these subjects-actors confer to this type of experience in the context of their daily lives. In the context of their ordinary knowledge, or commonsense knowledge, what subjects-actors name and signify as fictional — or as fiction —, goes far beyond the field of arts - such as cinema, literature, or theatre - and before highlighting exclusively this, while including it of course, it refers more to a broad spectrum of playful situations that subjects-actors connote as fictional, a type of experience with very particular characteristics. In the context of this type of experiments, the subjects-actors develop representations of which they know that these are "false", they communicate to others information that is being presented as if it concerned real things while these are simply invented or they are interested in stories, in visual representations or in actions of which they know that these are "semblances". In this sense, the extent of these kinds of situations include that what traditionally — and institutionally— is named as fiction, that is to say the experiences of subjects-actors with artistic fictions — where a work of art depicts an imaginary world —, such as reading a novel or watching a fiction film. However, such situations also include a kind of experience that ordinary subjects-actors articulate and signify from a playful opposition at what they refer to as reality for real, that scholarly traditions of the fiction have a little more difficulty to catalog directly as fictional, but in the context of a comprehensive phenomenological-sociological approach we might resemble to what Alfred Schütz named as the worlds of imagination and phantasms, such as for example the experiences of daydreaming, but above all those of Make-believe Games (also called Pretend Plays), and that we also could resemble to modalizations or transformed frames found in Erving Goffman's microsociology. In this panorama, which at first glance one might think that this synonym used by ordinary subjects-actors, in order to refer to these two types of phenomena as fictions (the institutionalized artistic fictions on one side, the fictional playful experiences on the other hand), could be totally random and even ambiguous, is - quite the contrary - the fundamental way and the starting point from which articulates this doctoral research through which we seek to understand the significant and constitutive heart of fiction as experienced by the ordinary subjects/actors

Full textThis dissertation discusses how reputation, virginity and honour are made topical in the stories of the lives of Arab and Kurdish women and connected with understandings of culture and religion. The dissertation is composed of five articles, which contain the principal analysis, and five chapters that discuss the project as a whole; the development of the main topics, and choices concerning methodological, ethical and theoretical approaches.
The empirical material of the dissertation consists of interviews with ten Arab and Kurdish women in Sweden, and seven legal cases of honor related violence. The interview material is analysed as a whole – focusing on the importance of reputation in women’s creation of identity, and how this may be related to cultural conceptions of divided femininity (virgin-whore) and honour (article 4). I also conduct an in-depth analysis of one interview, where meaning is created through a story, in which liberty is contrasted with constraint (article 3). In the analysis of the legal cases, I discuss the arguments of verdicts concerning honour related violence, and criticise the courts’ understanding of crimes as demarcated acts (articles 1 & 5). I also analyse the (violent) stories of the actual lives of women found in the legal cases in their contexts (articles 2 & 5).
Throughout the dissertation, I aim at a constructivist attempt that sees culture and gender as creative frames of interpretation. This attempt is connected with a hermeneutic perspective, which sees a statement or an act as comprehensible only when interpreted in its context (e.g. in a cultural context of honour). It is also connected with a feminist understanding of men’s violence against women, which relates the meaning of an act of violence to culturally accepted forms of control and cultural conceptions of gender.
In the analysis of the empirical material, I show how culture is created as contrast in the lives of women. ’Arab/Kurdish’ and ’Swedish’ appear as exclusive categories, and are connected with cultural conceptions of divided femininity and honour. Within these categories, a woman is either a virgin or a whore, and a woman that has been branded as a whore will be stained forever. Men’s honour will not be restored until she is extinguished. When these cultural conceptions are used in the life of a woman who lives with these highly normative demands, they may be crucial and signify experiences of violence. A woman with bad reputation may be defined as a ”Swedish whore” be her male relatives, contrasted with being an ”Arab/Kurdish virgin”. The honour of these men will not be restored until she is excluded from the family or dies: to be a virgin or a whore may be a life-and-death matter.

Full textThe main objective of this thesis is the delimitation and analysis of use and appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) in educational contexts especially in developing countries where exists problematic orientations about social development policy based in the use of these technologies. These problematic approach arise because there is a tendency to apply deterministic formulas that reinforce the linear relationship between development and technology. In this sense, the institutions responsible for policy decisions that require the establishment of mechanisms for government planning (prioritization of public expenditure) and investment, designs schools computerization programs based on this linear approach, characterized by a palliative direction and assistance, which eventually generate relationships of paternalism and dependency. In this context the research claims to develop a sociotechnical analysis proposal for technologies, both theoretical and methodological, to face the problem of the relationship between technology-education through the analysis of the case of the Colombian program Computadores para Educar (CPE).The present doctoral research suggests as a main objective, the study of the relationship between the actors involved into the processes of inclusion of computers in the public schools, by taking as basis of the analysis the state program CPE in Colombia. The principal interest of these research is to identify the new relationships between the uses of the technologies and the role of the teachers and the students in this new school in which the role of the technologies seems so essential and important, but whose results of the inclusion of the ICT’s into educational processes seem to be little significant. The central question of our search would be the following one: Which and how the relationships between the actors concerned by the process of introduction of computers within schools having received computers supplied by the program CPE in Colombia were stablished, during the period 2004-2008?

Full textAbstract The author Selma Lagerlöf was born in 1858 at Mårbacka, in Värmland and died in 1940. Fifty years after Selma´s death were her correspondence released and ten thousand of letters were found in the collection. But it was just the correspondence between Selma and Sofie Elkan who interested people because they wanted to know if Selma and Sofie have had a sexual relationship. Later, in time for Christmas 2008 the Swedish Television shows a film about Selma. "Selma Lagerlöf Society" was critical to the movie and thougt that the movie focused too much on Selma`s sexual orientation. This situation aroused a curiosity and a desire to find out why the film was perceived in this way. The purpose of this work is to show how the producer uses gender constructions to show that Selma was a lesbian and for that reason a thematic analysis was made from a social constructionist perspective. Different themes about gender constructions emerge in the analysis, and those themes are presented together with feminist theorist as Judith Butler, Yvonne Hirdman and Simone De Beauvoir. The discussion is about the presentation and how this can be perceived, but also about the reasons they might have had in mind when they made the presentation that way.

Full text25 years have passed since the fall of the Berlin wall. However, the way to an « inner union » –praised by Helmut Kohl in 1997 –is still long. Mystification and standardisation shape the normative and medial discourse. The time seems to have come to search for new paradigmata, which this thesis wants to achieve. With the help of an innovative qualitative methodological approach, this study suggests a new perspective on questions of identity and socialisation. It is based on the analysis of biography-oriented photo-interviews with the documentary method. The examination of how former GDR citizens deal with their photographs of the past, aims at exploring how they « habitually » (referring to the concept of habitus) deal with personal and social identity as well as with normative expectations. The goal of the study is to examine underlying structures of knowledge that guide the interaction and thus the construction of Self-Identity. This project was to observe if signs of identity work can be found and, if yes, which factors are decisive. The study of the private photographs and their reception finally demonstrates that individuals are « equipped » with habitual resources that determine their way of constructing identity. These resources strongly depend on experiences with recognition, which have partially been made by these individuals in the primary environment, such as in the family or amongst peers. Furthermore, the experience of « social disintegration » has a prominent part to play. It can be seen that disruptions, in the context of the Reunification, primarily depend on changes on an individual and social level, and not on a systemic one

Full textIn the recent years, the constructivist approaches have been widely adopted in numerous fields of social sciences : epistemology, cognitive psychology and sociology. This has not been the case as far as the management science field is concerned - except of some isolated trials. This observation is easily confirmed by the lasting domination of the mechanism and organism models among the works of organizational theorists. The thesis - a result of a more than two years field research in a large organisation - contains a critical discussion of works representative of the mechanism and organism models. It also tries to bring a contribution to the building of a constructivist perspective in the study of organizations. The main ideas of Jean Piaget and Anthony Giddens - two famous representatives of the constructivist paradigm - are presented and used together to state the elements of a constructivist model of organizations. The explaining capability of the constructivist perspective is shown through the analysis of the structuring process of a micro-computing field in the RATP. Different stages of structuring are clearly identified. The factors contributing to the structuring at each stage are analysed as well as the relationship between successive stages

Full textFirst, the absence of the post-colonial literature in the school curriculum was a personal observation. From this observation, this idea was born according to which the absence of representation of the ethnic and cultural diversity in the literary heritage passed on at the school would lead to an imbalance within the society. Accordingly, in what the study of the postcolonials literatures at school could allow the improvement of the coexistence ? Considering this, the thought that the absence of representation of the ethnic and cultural diversity in the literary heritage taught at school would lead to an imabalance within our society came up. So, how the study of post-colonial literature at school might imrove our way of « living together » ? In an opening approach, we tried to measure the real impact and place of post-colonial literature in the educational sphere. For some various reasons, this study was unsuccessful, so we’ve developped didactiv, societal and literary dimensions. French society experiences an identity crisis. « What does being Frenc mean ? » is a reccuring question. The tragic events which have become more multiplied since 2015 have magnified this issue. Religion and identity matters mix with security. All this comes with a serious trouble to deal calmly with information because of an excessive media coverage and the overexposure of the events in an ever shorter time. School could take up this issue and develop a special work around what we defined as didactic and post-colonial literature

Full textKnowledge is no longer limited to a selective group of individuals but should relate to any person eager for learning. In the 21st century, in a constantly changing educational environment, in Mauritius, schooling is still based on the notion of a pyramid-typed organisation. In this research. it has been observed that this flaw is explained through a model of education that perpetuates for generations with a backdrop of scholastic pedagogy encouraging 'spoon-feeding', intense academic competition and heavy reliance on private tuitions for obtaining a place in the best colleges and eventually a state scholarship. Studies conducted through this research challenged us in our mission as educators and researchers and made us understand, through experimentations, that the school should be a learning organisation with teams working in a spirit of complementarity for knowledge sharing because ‘the human brain is programmed for social interaction’(Hinton and Fischer). The researcher considered the use of ICTs to respond to weaknesses in the Mauritian education system ― seen as a hygiene factor (Herzberg) ― allowing learners to escape this ‘lethargic’ condition, this bilateral relationship as one way communication and to think out of the box while enriching themselves through collective learning practice. Mauritius has the advantage of using English and French as a bilingual platform, and is geo-strategically well positioned to become a "Knowledge Hub", the stepping stone between Africa and Asia in Education, must consider a systemic approach of education complemented with ICT. This will enable the country emerge with a practical educationalreform focused on the global dimension
