This thesis discusses the prohibition of human cloning in contemporary Islamic legal discourse, which relies on two distinct doctrines: the first seeks support in the Qur'anic text, while the second depends on method of utilitarian legal hermeneutics (al-istiṣlaḥ ). I define time in the novel as the succession and interrelatedness of events and divide this definition into two perceptions: immediacy and graduality.
