Full textInformation management on the Internet is a growing phenomenon. One way for companies and organizations to get information on the internet is through websites. For content management and webpage development, you can use the content management system. Such systems simplify information management on the website's various web pages. There are a wealth of CMS and the CMS support different features. This study is conducted as a case study in which the case being studied are criteria for choosing CMS. Data has been collected through surveys and document studies. Criteria’s have been identified and prioritized using the MoSCoW prioritization method by editors and developers working with CMS. Priority criteria have been compiled and a selection of CMS tools has been evaluated against the criteria’s. Based on the collected data from questionnaires, a priority scheme was drawn up. It is clear that some criteria are more important than others for editors and developers. The document study also showed that the selection of CMS evaluated met the majority of criteria.

A major component of the highly lucrative sports business is the content delivery value chain consisting of a number of players including the content creators - sports leagues; content aggregators - TV networks; content distributors - pay TV providers; advertisers - one of the main financiers in the value chain; and consumers. The relationships between the value chain players have been both cooperative and competitive, especially when the borders separating them became less defined due to backward and forward integration efforts of players. With the advancements in Internet content delivery and electronic devices, a new form of sports content consumption has emerged that has the potential to re-define the borders between the value chain players and to disrupt the industry. This new form of sports content consumption is Sports over IP (SpoIP, sports content consumption over the Internet). This thesis lays out four different scenarios about how the SpoIP disruption could play out in the value chain. It uses information from similar disruption in other industries and system dynamics modeling to present the ramification and likelihood of each scenario. This work predicts that the consumers will be the winner of SpoIP disruption because they will have access to good quality and cheaper sports content going forward.

Today, most companies and organizations have some kind of intranet solution. These system solutions vary and tend to be either more or less sophisticated, but the overall purpose remains the same; distributing the organizations information to its members.
This essay is about intranet-development, and mainly devoted to explore a concept which has grown rapidly in recent years; Content Management System (CMS). I’m particular focusing on how to choose a suitable Open Source CMS, for implementation in a small organizations intranet.
The essay is the result of vast literature studies, mainly based on scientific articles from leading experts within their field. In addition I have also carried out a survey in a company intranet, in order to investigate the users’ attitude towards their CMS-intranet.
One of the most important results of the essay is my model of a modularized CMS-intranet, partially based on Knowledge Management-theory and the importance of appropriate references in order to interpret our surroundings, and logical categorization of information.

Full textIn this master thesis possible usability problems in the user interface and the work process of a Web Content Management System are identified and analyzed. The problem identification has been done with both analytical usability evaluation methods and observations of real users. Although most of the participants had little or no previous experience with the system and the identified problems were especially hard for inexperienced users, it is likely that many of these have a negative impact also on the work of experienced, trained users. Based on the findings, resolutions to problems are suggested and an improved prototype is sketched. The resolutions arel argely of a generalizable character while the improved prototype is targeted at a group of users who wish to create web pages but do not have a need to use the more advanced functionality of the system. This thesis will help define a role in the system to fill the gap between single page editing and full administration possibilities.

Full textContent Management Systemer (CMS) tas i bruk i stadig flere bedrifter. Bred funksjonalitet støtter opp under stadig flere prosesser.

This thesis will explore the design and optimization of a peer-to-peer network application as a solution to complex content management problems. Currently, most content management systems are expensive, cumbersome and inflexible custom solutions that require knowledge workers to change their work habits. Peer-to-peer offers a uniquely decentralized and, potentially, scalable solution for knowledge workers by providing a simple and visual tool for file management, meta-data description and collaboration. This thesis will reference a client beta designed and developed by the author. Additionally, this thesis will address the need for content management solutions, the state of current solutions and a requirements document for a solution. Subsequently, the thesis will explore the design aspects of a peer-to-peer content management solution. As well as designing and developing a P2P client as proof of concept, this thesis will mathematically explore the implications of scaling the client to many users and methods to optimize performance. The last few chapters will cover the implementation of the client, proposed next steps for development and analysis of alternative architectures.

The Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) facility at Kansas State University is a huge biocontainment facility to conduct research on infectious diseases that pose a threat to plant, animal and human health. The BRI Training and Education Program is currently offline; i.e., classroom sessions are taken to provide this training and education. The objective behind taking up this project was to move the entire training and education module of Biosecurity Research Institute online, instead of having a classroom session for each training course, with an subject matter expert (SME) to come and take the training session. The aim is to develop an online training system which is synchronized with the information in the BRI Research Project Database. The employees will only have to login to the website, scroll through the list of courses they are enrolled in, take the courses, write the assignments/quizzes assigned to the course and then submit the quizzes. They can also self-enroll themselves into courses, if they are given the permission to do so. The SME’s of the courses can create new courses, upload the course materials, enroll users into the courses, and assign deadlines to course completion. Once the student submits the course quiz or assignments, the SME’s can grade the quiz, assign a final grade to the students, and give feedback on their performance. They can even reassign the course in case of poor performance by the student. The administrators of the website can assign roles to different personnel, give permissions according to need and requirement, add/delete courses, and change the appearance of the website. The project is to be done using a Learning Management System called Moodle. Moodle (Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is an online learning management system designed to allow interaction between teachers and students. The back-end database used is SQL Server 2008 R2 and additional tools used are Adobe Presenter (with Microsoft Power Point 2010) to create the courses in SCORM format.

Full textThe Globalisation of business, the shift from production-based to a knowledge-based economy, the growth of information communication technology (ICT), the strive to become learning organizations and the emergence of the need for knowledge workers have made Knowledge Management (KM) practice a must across all types and levels of organizations today (Chong, 2005). Organizations manage knowledge because if they do not, it has detrimental effects especially when employees leave organizations. Du Plessis (2005) indicates that when employees leave organizations they are likely to leave with valuable organizational knowledge. Successful KM has significant benefits for organizations. It enables organizations to harness this resource and continue to benefit from it even when employees have left the organizations. To successfully implement KM initiatives, an organization must take heed of KM success factors because absences of these factors lead to failure of KM initiatives. The purpose of this research is to explore the factors that are driving or impeding the effective implementation of the Parliament Content Management System (PCMS), as a KM initiative in the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa. The study has found that if leadership is not fully committed on the KM issues, KM initiatives will hardly succeed in an organization as it is the leadership‟s responsibility to come up with the KM implementation strategies; they have to ensure that employees are motivated and that there is a culture of knowledge sharing in the organization. The thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 deals with the background of the study, introduction to the problem and the relevance of the study. Chapter 2 reviews literature on push factors for successful implementation of knowledge management initiatives. Chapter 3 discusses the research methodology. Chapter 4 analyses the data. Finally, chapter 5 deals with the conclusion of the study with a number of v recommendations to assist LOD in ensuring that PCMS, as a KM initiative achieves its intended objectives.

Content management system is a web application helps users easily create, manage contents including text, images, video or sound, and publish them as web pages on Internet. There are tens of existing implementations of web-based content management system, but most of them lack the ability to describe and process contents by their attributes or relation between them. In this thesis, we propose an ontology-based content management system. Ontology is a methodology used to classify and describe concepts by their attributes and relationship between them. By adding ontology into content management systems, users can define ontology to describe concepts and required metadata of concepts, then specify contents to certain concepts, and fill out a metadata form predefined by ontology. After this, the system can present these metadata as both human-readable and machine-readable formats and process them automatically.

Because of the integration of the information technology, educational environment has become more and more multiplied. Through the convenience of the networks, the communicating medium between teachers and students has also become two-way interactive model from the original one-way conveying model. Thus, no matter the purpose is on the network education or the communication between each other, “Education Blogs” has eventually become the imperative platform for teachers, students, and the parents. Not only setting the web page for a class helps the school convey the information and the announcement, but also does it achieve a marked effect within teachers, students, and the parents. The researcher found that whether the class web page can be promoted depend on the internet platform is friendly or not. According to the reference, the web page is almost one-way information conveying oriented and has less interaction with the users. Furthermore, the unfamiliarness to the web page editing software and the deficiency of software for designing internet pages are the reasons that hold back the teachers to set up a class internet page. In the age of Web 2.0, the rise of a blog becomes the most important characteristic. It emphasizes user-centered trait, in other word, the users can surf the web pages as ones pleases. In order to create a best two-way communicating model, teachers can use the blog as an educational platform to make their pedagogic career get half the results with twice the effort. The study aimed at solving the difficulties of managing a class blog for a teacher by operating a managing platform with the characteristics of Web 2.0. And the purpose of this research can be separated as three parts: First, to discuss and induce the meaning of classroom management so as to generalize classroom management strategies. Second, the purpose is to analyze the content of the class blog at intermediate information seed schools in Taipei County. The researcher will use questionnaires to examine the required items of a class web page to facilitate the connotative items for a class web page. And third, the researcher will adopt the pedagogic systemized model to reconstruct the managing platform for classroom management, assess the practicalness of the managing platform, and make progress on the development. By so doing, this can reduce the teachers’ stress from designing the class blog, and advance the effectiveness of the classroom management.

Over the years, due to the rapid developing in science and technology, many advances have been made in the area of multimedia learning contents development. In this paper, we employ a multi-agent technique to develop an M-learning system based on 3G Network, wireless and MANET. Following that, the proposed M-learning platform provides the efficient mobile learning environment via the application of Zone_Net which is based on Zone-based, Mobile Blog, information retrieval (IR) and RSS Aggregation. Moreover, by utilizing the Zone-Based scheme, the system offers properly learning contents to learners without bandwidth squandering. This paper offers a solution by designing a mobile blogging system combining web services to enable mobile blogging users to appreciate what you think is what you write. Further, we can receive different learners’ blog articles by the RSS aggration or the RSS reader. Also, IR techniques are applied to design the Mobile IR so that users can find the dependency between terms and articles exactly.
