Abstract:
When comparing ancient and modern rye cultivars, in addition to the difference in height, differences in the content of photosynthetic pigments in tissues are also noted. However, it remains unclear whether the change in pigment content is related to the change in plant architectonics. Plants of winter rye cultivars which differ in plant height were collected under the conditions of crop rotation of the Krasnoyarsk Research Institute of Agriculture. The concentrations of chlorophylls a and b and carotenoids were determined in the flag leaves and stems of winter rye at the “booting-earing” stag

Abstract:
The aims of this study were to investigate nutritional value of coldpressed sunflower oil produced in the Republic of Serbia. Composition of fatty acids was determinated and, based on individual fatty acid content, nutritional indices are calculated. Tocopherol composition and total content of carotenoids and chlorophylls were investigated as well. The results indicate that examined oil is rich in essential linoleic acid and with excellent values of nutritional indices. Unfavorable n-6/n-3 ratio is caused by low n-3 fatty acids content which is characteristic for sunflower oil. Total tocophero

This paper presents the influence of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (diclofenac, ibuprofen, and naproxen), antibiotics (ampicillin, ciprofloxacin), nanomaterials (CNT-COOH, CNT-MnO2 etc) and heavy metals (Cu, Cd etc) on the lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). The evaluation of the impact of these pollutants on photosynthetic pigments, total polyphenols, antioxidant activity and the variation of multielement content was followed. From these studies it was observed that the VOCs emission rate increase with the increase of the pollutant concentration and the quantity of chlorophylls, carotenoids,

Fruit constitutes a major component of our diet, providing fiber, vitamins, minerals, and many other phytonutrients that promote good health. Fleshy fruits, such as tomatoes, already contain high levels of several of these ingredients. Nevertheless, efforts have been invested in increasing and diversifying the content of phytonutrients, such as carotenoids and flavonoids, in tomato fruits. Increasing levels of phytonutrients, such as lycopene, is highly justified from the perspective of the lycopene extraction industry due to cost effectiveness reasons. Abstract:
Global climate change and warming temperatures represent the greatest future challenge for global food production and quality. In this project, we will define the genetic factors of climate-associated taste deficiencies in carrot. Carrot is considered one of the leading horticultural crops in the world in terms of its nutritional value, health benefits, and unique flavor based on its high content of carotenoids and volatile aroma compounds. In recent years, carrot genotypes of different color with improved nutraceutical attributes have been developed. When exposed to high growth temperatures,

Abstract:
Hybrid vigor is the leading concept that rules crops breeding for almost a century. Yet, the exact mechanism that underlies heterosis is not clear. Over dominance interaction between alleles is one of the possible explanations. Our preliminary results indicated that severe developmental mutations at the heterozygous state have significant potential to improve plant performance. This led us to propose the ‘ODO breeding method’ that is based replacing a parental line of a successful hybrid with its mutated from to improve hybrid performance. Our BARD research challenged this method in three crop
