Abstract:
The concept of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) provides a framework for understanding the professional demands of secondary-school teachers in facilitating student learning. Teachers develop their PCK both formally in preservice and inservice education and informally with their colleagues. Teacher leaders, such as the secondary-school department chairs, can work with colleagues to promote professional growth. The purpose of this study was to understand how secondary-school department chairs understood PCK and perceived their role in promoting the PCK growth of their department colleagues.

Abstract:
The current thesis explored participants' stereotypes and auto-stereotypes of old age within the UK, and the consequences of auto-stereotype activation on older adults' memory performance and well-being. Study 1 employed a questionnaire design to explore young (aged 17-25 years) and older adults' (aged 60-75 years) experiences and stereotypes of ageing. Older participants demonstrated high subjective age bias, reporting subjective ages significantly below their chronological age. Abstract:
This study qualitatively analyses students' and teachers' perceptions on the effectiveness of formative and summative feedback, using a Critical Systems Theory theoretical framework. By considering feedback content, comparison and mode, this research uncovers perceptions of the strengths, weaknesses and effectiveness of different feedback types. Pre-existing research highlights the benefits and impact of feedback, and the characteristics of effective feedback. However, few studies have

Background: Positive schizotypy describes unusual perceptual experiences (such as hallucinations) and beliefs (such a delusional-like thinking) akin to those observed in schizophrenia. Previous evidence has suggested that positive schizotypy can predict false perceptual experiences in non-clinical participants during experimental tasks involving visual detection of fast moving words. However, little is known about the role of emotion as well as the emotional content of such laboratory-generated, false perceptual experiences. Furthermore, despite previous evidence on an association between schi
