Complex claim fact-checking performs a crucial role in disinformation detection. However, existing fact-checking methods struggle with claim vagueness, specifically in effectively handling latent information and complex relations within claims. Moreover, evidence redundancy, where non-essential information complicates the verification process, remains a significant issue. To tackle these limitations, we propose Bilateral Defusing Verification (BiDeV), a novel fact-checking working-flow framework integrating multiple role-played LLMs to mimic the human-expert fact-checking process. Verification of software for embedded systems is crucial for ensuring a product’s integrity. Formal approaches like static analysis and model checking are gaining momentum in this context. To make an exhaustive examination of the system’s state space tractable in practice, these methods perform an abstraction and over-approximation of the possible behavior. As a side-effect, however, this leads to “false negatives” -property violations that exist only in the model and not on the real system. Ruling out such spurious property violations by manual valuation is a tedious and error-prone process.

Abstract:
Radio Frequency Identification Technology became more and more involved in authentication processes over the years and is still rising. Security in this context needs to be strongly ensured, hence security models have a crucial role motivated by the fact that any entity with the right tools can interfere or eavesdrop in the communication process between a tag and a reader. The two most relevant, complete and worth mentioning models at this hour are Serge Vaudenay’s model based on the introduced ‘blinder’ notion and the HPVP model of J. Hermans, R. Peeters and B. Abstract:
Previous research has extensively investigated why users spread misinformation online, while less attention has been given to the motivations behind sharing fact-checks. This paper reports a four-country survey experiment assessing the influence of confirmation and refutation frames on engagement with online fact-checks. Respondents randomly received semantically identical content, either affirming accurate information (“It is TRUE that p”) or refuting misinformation (“It is FALSE that not p”). Despite semantic equivalence, confirmation frames elicit higher engagement rates than refutation fra

Abstract:
Strengthened governance is crucial to reduce economic risks associated with disasters, but little is known about its impact. We combine a new dataset on disaster risk management governance for 26 countries from the Latin America and Caribbean region with annual information on economic losses resulting from disasters between 1980 and 2016. To account for endogenous disaster risk management (DRM) governance processes, we exploit the fact that changes in DRM regulatory frameworks affect a country's capacity for disaster risk identification and reduction to provide instrumental variable estimates

Abstract:
This working paper aims to situate our research project within the various debates around resilience. It advocates a historical, cultural and plural approach to understanding how communities develop and share resilient practices in contexts of multiple and protracted crises. A focus on ‘vernacular’ resilience, as embedded in social practices and cultural repertoires, is important since conventional approaches to resilience seem to have overlooked how locally embedded forms of resilience are socially constructed historically. Our approach results from a combination of two observations. Firstly,

Abstract:
The purpose of this text or dissertation is to throw some basic light on a fundamental problem concerning manhood, namely the question of evil, its main sources, dynamics and importance for human attitudes and behaviour. The perspective behind the analysis itself is that of psychology. Somebody, or many, may feel at bit nervous by the word “evil” itself. It may very well be seen as too connected to religion, myth and even superstition. Yet those who are motivated to lose oneself in the subject retain a deep interest in human destructiveness, malevolence and hate, significant themes pointing at

The main goal of this research plan was to elucidate regulatory mechanisms controlling the development, function of the bovine corpus luteum (CL). The CL contains two different sterodigenic cell types and therefore it was necessary to obtain pure cell population. A system was developed in which granulosa and theca interna cells, isolated from a preovulatory follicle, acquired characteristics typical of large (LL) and small (SL) luteal cells, respectively, as judged by several biochemical and morphological criteria. Experiments were conducted to determine the effects of granulosa cells removal
