Abstract:
Over recent decades, the performance benefits of diversification strategies have been the topic of much academic discussion. Conceptually, there has been much debate about the benefits and drawbacks of diversification, and the resulting empirical findings to date have been inconclusive. In this thesis it is proposed that to advance this literature, the conditions and mechanisms that may impact the diversification–performance relationship be considered. The thesis specifically investigates how key unexplored contingent factors shape the relationship between various forms of diversification (i.e

Abstract:
In recent years intergroup contact research has called for analyzing the effects of both positive and negative contact experiences on attitudes, affective variables, and intergroup appraisals and the possible explanatory role of individual differences in such effects. Relying on these research topics and to the related literature, we conducted five studies with different methodologies: three cross-sectional (NStudy1=347, NStudy2=307, NStudy3=374), one longitudinal (NStudy4=565), and one employing a diary method (NStudy5=365). Throughout these studies, we examined how positive and negative cont

Abstract:
State federal vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies are one of the most wide spread and oldest programs designed to help individuals with disabilities. Currently, VR agencies provide various services designed to aide individuals with disabilities obtaining and maintaining employment. Currently, VR agencies serve approximately 1 million individuals with disabilities and spend about 3 billion dollars annually. Given how large and the amount of state and federal dollars are spent on VR, it is important that the outcomes of this program are researched and evaluated. The purpose of this study was

Abstract:
In the face of maternal illness, adolescent daughters are thought to be at risk for emotional problems (e.g., Compas et al., 1994; Compas et al., 1996). This may be due to a number of variables, including those related to the functional impact of the disease, perceptions of increased personal risk, or other individual and family influences. To date, however, adolescent daughters of ill mothers remain an understudied population and variables for predicting or explaining adjustment problems in this group have not been thoroughly investigated. The purpose of this study was to examine the disease,
