Abstract:
This paper explores Philip Pettit's concept of liberty as non-domination, a significant contribution to contemporary political theory emphasizing freedom from arbitrary power rather than merely the absence of interference. In an increasingly plural and complex world, there is a pressing need for a broader understanding of liberty that addresses the political adversities faced by diverse societies. Pettit’s theory provides a robust framework for assessing political freedom by proposing that true liberty entails the absence of domination, supported by democratic mechanisms that disperse and make

What are the interpretations of the idea of liberty that are presented in the current discussions within political philosophy? This concept, being too vague, tries to delimit itself in the three most relevant proposals within current philosophical and political debates. Two of them are given through modernity, which can be subdivided into universals, which are based on prohibitive laws and, secondly, individual, who are based on the selection of permissive laws. The third contribution is given by the communitarians, who begin to speak about the need for a liberty of plurality. It is not an obj

The purpose of this work is to provide a different perspective with which to look at the notion of liberty. In order to do this, it is necessary to refer to the two philosophical ideas of spontaneity and the sublime. These two ideas, which are substantially developed within the philosophical theories of J. S. Mill and Edmund Burke, are taken up by one of the last representatives of British idealism, Henry Jones. Jones's exploration of the philosophical ideas of spontaneity and the sublime, as developed within the theories of Mill and Burke, offers a novel perspective on the notion of liberty.

The Second Vatican Council (1962–1965) constitutes for the Catholic Church a point of change and renewal.

Abstract:
Renewed interest in offshore arctic oil and gas has led to the need for pipeline designs able to minimize environmental risk. A risk evaluation was conducted to assess the relative merits of pipeline concept designs for the Liberty Pipeline, which is intended to carry oil from BP/Amoco’s Liberty site to onshore Alaska. The Liberty site is inshore of the Barrier Islands in the Alaskan Beaufort Sea, in 22 feet of water. The offshore portion of the pipeline is 6.12 miles long. Risk was defined as the oil volume expected to be spilled over the 20-year life of the Liberty Pipeline. Risks due to ice

Abstract:
There is an urgent need to align global carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions with climate-safe trajectories. A broad range of technologies and approaches are needed to achieve this cost-effectively and equitably. The circular carbon economy (CCE) concept provides a holistic, flexible and pragmatic framework for countries to plan their respective contributions toward the commonly agreed climate goals.

Abstract:
This report focuses on the concept of the silver economy, which has emerged as a response to population ageing in Europe in recent years. The silver economy refers to all economic activities linked to older age groups. The concept is based on the notion that many older people continue to make valuable economic and societal contributions after retirement, and that older citizens can provide significant economic and societal benefits, particularly if they are healthy and active. This report examines policies and initiatives to promote the silver economy and the closely related concepts of health

It is shown the creation and use of the VLE is a promising approach in qualitative restructuring of future specialists’ vocation training, a suitable complement rather than a complete replacement of traditional learning. The concept of VLE has been disclosed; its structure has been presented as a set of components, such as: the Data-based component, the Communication-based, the Management-and-Guiding ones, and the virtua
