Abstract Background: Phylloquinone is the most abundant form of vitamin K in US diets. Green vegetables are considered the predominant dietary source of phylloquinone. As our food supply diversifies and expands, the food groups that contribute to phylloquinone intake are also changing, which may change absolute intakes. Thus, it is important to identify the contributors to dietary vitamin K estimates to guide recommendations on intakes and food sources. This paper considers the private provision of a public good within a community, whose members are inclusive Kantian or Nashian optimizers. It is analyzed how a change in group size affects the mixed Kant-Nash equilibrium. Kantians face a trade-off when admitting a Nashian into the community. Even though the new member is a contributor, there is a negative externality, as the Kantians hypothetical cost of public good provision falls in group size. This can lead to a lower utility of Kantian individuals.

Abstract:
In recent years, the impact of tourism on environmental degrada- tion has intensified the focus on knowledge-based sustainable development, as research increasingly identifies tourism as a major contributor to environmental pollution and damage. This study explores Generation Z’s preference for nature- based tourism, a group known for their environmental consciousness. The present study aims to identify the travel trends of Generation Z youth in the context of sustainable knowledge-based development. The construction industry of Trinidad and Tobago has been, for decades, a direct indicator of national development and contributor to economic growth. The associated problems of the industry as experienced by contractors negatively impacts project performance and success. This study identified the most common problems experienced by contractors and assessed these to determine their level of significance and importance to projects. Employing a survey questionnaire and analytical methods using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), 43 problems were identified, classified into se

Sustainable tourism has gained significant attention in recent years due to environmental pressures. Climate change and environmental degradation have made people more aware of the environmental and social impacts of their travel and tourism activities. The tourism industry has the potential to contribute to the three pillars of sustainable development by preserving the environment, promoting social inclusivity, and fostering local economic development. Balancing tourism development with environmental conservation and socio-economic sustainability is crucial for the long-term viability of this

Viral haemorrhagic fevers (VHFs) are a group of severe illnesses caused by viruses that affect multiple organ systems and damage the cardiovascular system. VHFs include Ebola virus disease and Marburg virus disease. There is wide variation in how VHFs are diagnosed, how pathogenic they are, their geographic distribution, their known reservoirs (i.e., animals or insects that spread the disease) and the availability of vaccines or treatments. When using this Question Bank for a specific public health emergency in connection with an identified VHF, consider these factors in addition to an updated

Abstract:
Bacterial fruit blotch (BFB) of cucurbits is caused by the Gram-negative bacterium Acidovorax citrulli. BFB affects cucurbit production worldwide, and mainly watermelon and melon. Most A. citrulli strains are divided into two genetically differentiated groups: while group I strains have been mainly associated with melon and other non-watermelon cucurbits, group II strains are more aggressive on watermelon. Like many Gram-negative plant-pathogenic bacteria, A. citrulli relies on a functional type III secretion system (T3SS) for pathogenicity. The T3SS is responsible for direct secretion of bact

The creation of non-contributory pension schemes is becoming increasingly common as countries struggle to reduce poverty. Drawing on data from Mexico's Adultos Mayores Program (Older Adults Program) --a cash transfer scheme aimed at rural adults over 70 years of age-- we evaluate the effects of this program on the well-being of the beneficiary population. Exploiting a quasi-experimental design whereby the program relies on exogenous geographical and age cutoffs to identify its target group, we find that the mental health of elderly adults in the program is significantly improved, as their scor

Poor access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services threatens public health and contributes to a range of gender and social inequalities. Despite the disproportionate impacts of poor WASH, women and marginalised groups often have less say in the delivery and management of these services. Recognition of these inequalities has translated into growing attention to gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) mainstreaming in WASH programmes, thought to contribute to both more sustainable WASH services as well as to gender equality and women’s empowerment as a stand-alone goal.
