Full textGeneralized in the 1980s, open visit policy in pediatrie departments has led to the progressive affirmation of a "visit right" for parents in hospitals. After studying its historical foundations and focusing on the role of psychological knowledge in its development, its consequences on hospital's functioning and familial organization have been studied. Our observational study in two departments (general pediatrie and pediatrie hepatology departments) permitted a "down-top" analysis of the hospital by closely observing interactions between parents, children and professionals. The purpose was to analyse relationships between public and private spheres from a microsoeiological point of view by showing the role of pediatrie hospital segment in the regulation of contemporary family

Full textGenomic imprinting is an epigenetic mechanism leading to the repression of one allele of a gene, depending on its parental origin. This mechanism affects a small number of genes in metatherian and eutherian mammals. These genes, named imprinted genes (IGs), display various molecular functions and thus seem unrelated. However, their alterations are frequently associated with the control of embryonic growth and tumorigenesis. My PhD project has consisted in demonstrating a functional link between IGs. We show that IGs are frequently co-expressed and belong to a common gene network. They are co-regulated in biological situations corresponding to the transitions between different cellular states. Coordinated induction of most IGs takes place at the outputs of the cell cycle. Loss and gain of function experiments of several IGs in the 3T3-L1 pre-adipocyte model demonstrate a role of the IG network in controlling transitions between cellular states (proliferation, quiescence and differentiation). In addition to IGs, this network also includes bi-allelic genes, with many extracellular matrix genes. Therefore, the function associated with the IG network could be the fine control of transitions between cellular states through a remodeling of the extracellular matrix. To conclude, in addition to the identification of a common cellular function for IGs, our results suggest a possible scenario for the targeting of these genes by parental genomic imprinting during mammalian evolution

Full textThe idea of parental authority may appear in the law but the law tells very little when it comes to its process. This study is trying to distinguish authority from power, as legitimacy from lawfulness, but also to suggest an explanation of the notion through axiology. This research intends to understand authority differently than a sole relation to others, and harvests both the ethical and moral fields however not through otherness. Furthermore, the way we consider childhood and understand parenthood nowadays does not fall far from considering authority itself. Thus, it seems of primordial importance to be able to determine the child's capacities as much as his or her parents's responsibility in order to carry out a proper research on the authority process throughout the child's upbringing. Just like restraint lies in everyone, we consider this process comes from self-control (no pathology included), which falls within human specificities. The last part of this work will focus on understanding how the child can be helped to carry out this authority and why it appears necessary to his or her development, particularly if we take into account the moral liberty this process seems to enable us with

Parental training is presented as a practice that aims to increase parental awareness for the use of their parenting skills through educational activities to raise awareness, learning or clarification regarding attitudes and parenting practices (Olivares, Mendez & Ros, 2005). The creation and the promotion of parental interventions help in developing the quality of interactions between parents and children and the development of parental and personal. The Educational Practices Parenting programs are aimed at promoting self-esteem, self-concept, communication between children and training strategies to modify certain behaviors of the children. The collaboration of families in family interventions contributes to the promotion of child development, reducing risk factors (Mestre & Corassa, 2002; Silvares, 1995). In this sense, this study aimed to construct, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a promotion Practices Program Parental Education. A total of 10 adult subjects (5 belonging to the Experimental Group and 5 belonging to the Control Group) aged between 30 and 52 years (M = 40.6), urban residents (N = 9). Data were collected through a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, and EMBU -P (Scale of Maternal Perception of the Parental Educational Style), portuguese version of Canavarro and Pereira (2007). Overall, the results show no statistically significant differences between pre-intervention and post-intervention time point with regard to the dimensions Emotional Support, Attempt to Control and Rejection, not allowing us therefore prove the effectiveness of the Promotion Program Educational Practices.
