Background. Central systolic blood pressure (CSBP) has prognostic significance and simplified devices for its estimation have been introduced recently. The aim of this study was to assess the achievement of the target CSBP in treated hypertensive patients.Subjects and Methods. One hundred patients with well-controlled hypertension were analysed. For CSBP estimation, we used the Arteriograph (TensioMed Ltd.), which uses one cuff for all measurements, the “single-point measurement” approach.Results. We found that 62% of patients had CSBP ≥ 130 mmHg, the suggested cut-off value for hypertension.

Pathological hallmarks of PAH include pulmonary vascular remodelling, pre-capillary arterial obliteration, and plexiform lesions. Over the past 15 years, pulmonary endothelial cell (EC) apoptosis has been repeatedly implicated as a key trigger of occlusive arterial remodelling in PAH. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a lethal disease characterized by excessive proliferation of pulmonary vascular cells, such as endothelial cells (ECs). However, the mechanisms by which these mutations cause PAH remain unclear. Background and objective: Essential hypertension is a leading risk factor for chronic kidney disease, yet there is no conclusive evidence that lowering blood pressure alone improves renal outcome measures. Angiotensin-II receptor blockers (ARBs) proposed to have renal-protective effects independent of their antihypertensive effect. This systematic review of animal studies aims to collect available information from the published literature about the ARBs' consequences in murine models and analyze it in a structured way to provide a pre-clinical baseline for future analysis of similar clinical i

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: To determine effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs to prevent different dementia subtypes such as Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. Condition being studied: Dementia is a global health burden, with the number of affected individuals increasing. A recent meta-analysis reported that the prevalence of all-type dementia was 697 per 10,000 people and the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease was 324 per 10,000 people. The SHEP and SYST-EUR were the two first randomized controlled trials to show that hypertension treatment reduces dementia risk.

Abstract:
Background. Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are increasingly common and have important implications for maternal health, healthcare utilization, and health disparities. There is limited evidence to support best management of postpartum individuals with HDP, including home blood pressure (BP) monitoring (HBPM) and choice of antihypertensive agents. For patients experiencing preeclampsia with severe features, there is robust evidence supporting delivery of the infant and treatment with magnesium sulfate (MgSO4). However, MgSO4 may cause unpleasant side effects and, less commonly, toxic
