The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of depression amongst Controlled and Uncontrolled Hypertension patients in Legazpi, Albay Municipal, Philippines. Sixty (60) controlled and uncontrolled hypertension patients using a confidence interval of 90%, were selected to complete the Hospital and Anxiety Depression Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory which had different scoring for depression symptoms. Aim: Our cross-sectional study set out to identify characteristics and predictors of hypertension control among adults on drug treatment. The aim was to provide current, actionable evidence of the factors that promote hypertension control and hence, improve health outcomes through reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Methods: We conducted a descriptive, cross-sectional, and hospital-based study of 90 eligible, previously diagnosed and currently treated adults (18 years or older) with hypertension at the Medical Outpatients’ Clinic of Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Ben

Background. Patients with masked hypertension are at an elevated risk of cardiovascular events and all-cause death. This risk is close to that of sustained hypertension. The mean value and short-term variability of systolic blood pressure are considered to be risk factors for organ damage in hypertension. Objective. To investigate the mean value and short-term variability of systolic blood pressure in patients with masked hypertension. Methods. According to the results of in-clinic and ambulatory blood pressure measurement, participants were divided into four groups: normotension group, contro

Background: Elevated blood pressure (BP) is a risk factor for cognitive impairment. Objective: We aim to explore the association between the duration of hypertension in early adulthood, with cognitive function in midlife. Furthermore, we investigate whether this asssociation is altered among participants with controlled BP. Methods: This prospective study included 2,718 adults aged 18–30 years without hypertension at baseline who participated in the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) Study. Duration of hypertension was calculated based on repeat measurements of BP perfor
