Economic and technical analysis of substituting GSHP for conventional air-conditioning system (combined by cold central air-conditioner and electric coal-fired boiler) was carried out. Firstly, a brief introduction was made on types, characteristics and application scope of heat pump technology. Secondly, initial investment and operating costs was estimated, respectively. At last, carbon dioxide emission reduction was calculated. The results show that, compared to conventional air conditioner, heat pump has better economics and energy saving benefits.

Abstract:
A number of techniques for air pollutant removals are available such as adsorption, biofiltration and incineration. However, these techniques require further treatment and/or are energy-intensive leading to high treatment costs. Both plasma and photocatalysis are promising alternatives since these two techniques can be operated at ambient conditions resulting in low energy consumption as compared to the conventional methods. The main objective of this work was to develop a combined plasma and photocatalytic system for VOC removals. A four-stage plasma and photocatalytic reactor system was setu

No person with a disability shall be left behind. This report presents suggested indicators for monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability and Agenda 2030 in the Nordic region. The vision of the Nordic cooperation is to become the most integrated and sustainable in the world by 2030. The vision mirrors the sustainable development goals of Agenda 2030, according to which no-one shall be left behind. Persons with disabilities have the right to inclusion, and the Nordic countries monitor the developments of living conditions for persons with disabi

We evaluate the heat pump component of New Zealand’s Warmer Kiwi Homes (WKH) programme. The programme includes provision of heat pumps in living areas for eligible households (based on neighbourhood or income) that do not have suitable heating. It also includes installation of retrofitted insulation for houses with insufficient insulation. Staggered installation enables difference-in-difference estimates of impacts. Heat pump outcomes on which we focus include warmth and dryness of the living area, personal comfort and wellbeing, and electricity consumption. We combine the heat pump findings w

The objectives of this project were to develop nondestructive methods for detection of internal properties and firmness of fruits and vegetables. One method was based on a soft piezoelectric film transducer developed in the Technion, for analysis of fruit response to low-energy excitation. The second method was a dot-matrix piezoelectric transducer of North Carolina State University, developed for contact-pressure analysis of fruit during impact. Two research teams, one in Israel and the other in North Carolina, coordinated their research effort according to the specific objectives of the proj
