<p>Performance of a voltage source inverter depends on pulse width modulation algorithms. Various algorithms exist for conventional space vector as well as space vector based bus clamped pulse width modulation for multilevel inverter in the literature. In this paper appropriate region selection algorithm for conventional space vector pulse width modulation (CSVPWM) and bus clamped pulse width modulation (BCPWM) techniques are proposed for diode clamped three level voltage source inverter. The current paper aims at presenting and examining an implementation on a digital signal processor (DSP) of the conventional space vector pulse width modulation (CSVPWM) so as to control the dual three phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (DTP-PMSM) drives applied on electric ship propulsion. It is also an attempt to accomplish a developed control of this technique based on vector space decomposition (VSD) strategy. By this strategy, the analysis and the control of the machine are achieved in three two-dimensional orthogonal subspaces. Among the 12 voltage vectors having maximum, the conv

In this paper, a modified space vector pulse width modulation (MSVPWM) algorithm is developed for 3-level inverter fed direct torque controlled induction motor drive (DTC-IMD). MSVPWM algorithm simplifies conventional space vector pulse width modulation (CSVPWM) algorithm for multilevel inverter(MLI), whose complexity lies in sector/subsector/sub-subsector identification; which will commensurate with number of levels. In the proposed algorithm sectors are identified as in two level inverter and subsectors/sub-subsectors are identified by shifting the original reference vector to sector 1 (S1).

Using the output current ripple theory, closed-form expressions of average current ripple vectors for both continuous and discontinuous switching sequences are derived. Based on the sector and triangle distributions of conventional SVPWM strategy, each triangle is further divided into three small-regions. Then the switching sequence with the lowest magnitude of the average current ripple vector is applied in every small-region, so that the

Design/methodology/approach PWM is a general method to generate the switching signals of the power converters in order to obtain high-quality output voltages.
