Abstract The paper presents a practical example of improvement of foundry production systems in terms of post-finishing of nodular iron castings produced in the conditions of bulk production for automotive industry. The attention was paid to high labour-intensive efforts, which are difficult to be subjected to mechanization and automation. The times of actions related to grinding processing of castings in three grinding positions connected with a belt conveyor were estimated with the use of a time study method. This article presents a strategy for efficient sorting path planning and trajectory optimization with multiple constraints. The proposed strategy is applicable to typical high-density sorting applications. It plans the sorting path while optimizing each trajectory. The total stroke traveled by the end effector to complete the sorting task is shortened, and the efficiency of the production line is correspondingly facilitated. Thus, this article designs bow-shaped trajectories by analyzing the work process of the production line to ensure the smooth transition of the end effector and bow-shaped

The assembly of large components is characterized by manual processes and customer-specified products. These are just two of the challenges for the efficient automation of assembly processes. In the field of large component assembly, the goal is to synchronize between the handling system and the moving work piece placed on an unguided transport system. One approach to solve this problem is a direct reference between the product and the assembled work piece. This referencing is done by using a global reference system in which every handling system can be referenced to every work piece throughou

This article deals with the creation of a digital twin for an experimental assembly system based on a belt conveyor system and an automatized line for quality production check. The point of interest is a Bowden holder assembly from a 3D printer, which consists of a stepper motor, plastic components, and some fastener parts. The assembly was positioned in a fixture with ultra high frequency (UHF) tags and internet of things (IoT) devices for identification of status and position. The main task was parts identification and inspection, with the synchronization of all data to a digital twin model.

Abstract:
Vibratory conveyors are used especially within serial productions for the transport of diverse materials and parts for assembling. The desired oscillating movement is accomplished by electromagnetic exciting forces. The exciting force of this dynamic system actuates between the carrying element and the inertial mass. The inertial mass is fixed to the ground by an elastic constraint using a relatively stiff rubber spring. This elastic constraint ensures the conveyor’s stability and defines its position towards the assembly line, but does not meet relevant effective vibration isolation demands.
