As the number of mobile phone subscriptions has rapidly expanded in developing countries, so too has the use of mobile phones to facilitate small-scale financial transactions around the world. Microfinance experts have recognized these mobile banking services as a means for expanding access to financial services among poor and low-income populations. Innovations over the past few years have proven that mobile network operators and banks can cooperate to create successful business models for mobile banking services. Recognizing this success, this paper further explores the ways in which private sector, public sector, and non-profit sector actors can and should collaborate to meet the financial service needs of the poor through innovations in mobile banking. Case studies from Kenya, the Philippines, the United States, Haiti, and India provide relevant lessons on how these collaborations have succeeded or failed in the past.

Abstract:
This study seeks to uncover the projected gains and challenges of a cashless and e-payment policy in Nigeria, with particular emphasis on the wellbeing of bank clients, and to examine the extent to which the promised benefits of the policy were realized eight years down the line of implementation. Researchers provided copies of a research questionnaire to selected bankers and bank customers in Ogun and Lagos states of Nigeria to find perceptions of the two stakeholder groups regarding the subject matter. Three hypotheses formulated were tested using ANOVA. The paper reveals that the cashless banking initiative in Nigeria has significantly enhanced bank customer satisfaction; the implementation of the cashless banking structure in Nigeria has not led to a significant reduction in the level of cash fraud in Nigerian banks; and the adoption of a cashless economy practice in Nigeria has significantly improved the management of bank customer funds in terms of spending and saving. The paper, in particular, recommends that bank regulators constantly and widely cooperate with all key stakeholders in the system in the fight against cybercrime. This will make the electronic space safe and reliable for use in doing banking in Nigeria and beyond. The transaction is one of the unavoidable phenomena of the modern world. The transaction is accessible, ubiquitous, global, and necessary, hence the number of transactions and the number of users is constantly increasing, as statistics regularly confirm. Generators of further development of transactions in the world of financial and especially banking services are certainly ICT companies together with numerous providers that develop and improve information and communication technologies, and make available reliable information transmission systems without which the world of transactions we know today would not be possible. Banks pay special attention to the further development and improvement of each individual type of transaction. In doing so, banks actively cooperate with ICT companies, sending initiatives and giving ratings, and appropriate support, as they are vitally interested in providing innovative services and types of transactions to their existing and potential clients.

Abstract:
The article reveals the essence of modern bancassurance and new challenges and prospects for its development in Ukraine. The definition of “bancassurance” is theoretically substantiated and the general financial and economic characteristics of Ukrainian banks is given. The normative indicators of commercial institutions are analyzed along with the main risks affecting banking and insurance activities, the possibility of their leveling are determined. The study provides theoretical and practical information on the process of banks capital of and insurance companies merging, financial and economic analysis of JSC PrivatBank – one of the largest banks in modern Ukraine, and the assessment of the financial stability of its insurance partners. The insurance Ukrainian market study concerning the detection of possible prospects for cooperation with the studied bank was done. The calculations suggest that PrivatBank can cooperate with the leading insurance companies, such as AXA Insurance and Providna recommended as new partners. It is established that bancassurance technologies have a significant place at the current stage of development of the domestic financial market. Using a large customer base and a wide network of branches and outlets, banking experts expect that revenues from the sale of insurance products in 2021 may amount to 15% of total bank revenues, as the volume of bank insurance in JSC CB PrivatBank is growing quite rapidly. The activity of banks in market conditions is subject to its general laws, and therefore requires the development of a viable mechanism for managing financial activities, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of banks. Thus, the ability of bank managers to determine the degree of financial stability of their bank as well as that of the competing banks and counterparties is essential in making decisions. Therefore, the search for ways to optimize the financial condition of the bank is one of the principles of further rapid development of the banking system in Ukraine.

Abstract:
When the enactment of Act Number 7 of 1992 concerning banking there is another alternative form in addition to conventional banks that are known a bank based on the principle of profit sharing. Act Number 7 of 1992 concerning Banking has not yet used explicitly the term sharia bank or Islamic bank. The mention still uses the term “profit sharing principle”. There is no more detailed provision regarding banks conducting business based on sharia principles. Financing is the majority of assets of sharia banks so that the financing must be maintained with quality based on the principle of prudence. The precautionary principle is a bank management guideline that must be adopted in order to realize a sound, robust and efficient banking system in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations. Implementation of prudential principles by sharia banks is one of which is realized in performing a financing analysis that is analyzing confidence on the willingness and ability of prospective customers of the facility receiver to repay all obligations in time, before the Sharia Bank and/or UUS channel funds to the facility receiver. This confidence is derived from a careful assessment of the time, ability, capital, collateral, and business prospects of a potential customer (character, capacity, capital, collateral, condition). The sharia bank in providing financing hopes that the financing proceeds smoothly, the customer obeys what has been agreed upon in the agreement and pays in full when it matures. However, it can occur within the financing period of non-performing financing. Efforts made by sharia bank to handle problematic financing by conducting a rescue of troubled financing with restructuring efforts if the customer still has good intentions in the sense of still willing to be invited to cooperate in efforts to save troubled financing, but if the customer has no conviction either in the sense cannot be invited in an effort to rescue non-performing financing, sharia banks will make efforts to settle non-performing financing.

Abstract:
Abstract The importance of corporate communication to build, protect and maintain corporate reputation has been advocated in numerous publications in recent years. The main goal of this paper is to provide an understanding of the impact of corporate reputation and information sharing on value creation. Both reputation and information sharing represent signals that customers observe in the process of value creation, which is seen as the end focus for corporate marketing. The paper draws on signaling theory and corporate marketing literature from the European and American schools of thought. The empirical test of the hypothesized model focuses on the banking industry. Organizational customers from a South East European country shared their views about banks they currently cooperate with. The research instrument contained multi-item scales adapted from the existing literature. An analysis using structural equation modeling confirmed that corporate reputation positively and significantly influences customer perceived value. The effect of information sharing on customer perceived value is not direct but mediated by corporate reputation. This finding contributes to the existing discussion on the role of corporate reputation and communication as antecedents in the process of value creation.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to study the process of transformation of banks in an unstable global environment and determine the prospects for the future. The unstable global environment is a complex dynamic system that requires rapid changes within the bank itself to adapt. Banks are changing, adapting to an unstable global environment and demonstrating the ability not only to withstand adverse factors, but also to seize opportunities to improve efficiency. The peculiarity of the transformation of commercial banks in an unstable global environment is that they must act faster than competitors, improve efficiency in order to compensate for the negative impact of the unstable global environment, achieve coordination to adapt to the internal and external environment, cooperate with fintech companies, introduce innovative technologies, master new innovative directions. We think the future of banking is collaboration between traditional banks and neo-banks, especially given the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve and maintain profitability in the unstable environment by independently developing and offering a complete range of traditional financial services and products. Abstract:
The study highlights the complete image of the characteristics regarding offshore areas, by taking into account the perspective to deploy new measures of fiscal transparency. The importance of such areas stems from the fact that world economies lose important sums of money, every year by default of taxes. This happens as a consequence of corporative international abuse of fiscal evasion and the relocation of the profit made by big companies. The sums resulted from erosion of national taxation bases, from fiscal evasion and fraud and other infringements connected with fiscal evasion (are often being transferred to offshore companies so that their illegal characteristics gets lost and after that to be reintroduced into the economic cycle. The main characteristics of these offshore centres is lack of transparency and cooperation with foreign authorities, fiscal and banking secrecy being considered the guarantee of the offshore areas, measurable variables, fleshes in indicators that reflect the secret degree for each state. Therefore, fighting against such practicies through offshore societies aims at enforcing some measures to enlarge transparency and for the regions do not cooperate there is no granting of fiscal deductibility for transactions that entail the transfer of sums to the respective regions.

Abstract:
It is established that the existing banking system is aimed primarily at lending to highly concentrated agricultural enterprises and is not adapted to the needs of small rural businesses. Therefore, the creation of an effective mechanism for lending to small and medium-sized agricultural entities through a credit cooperative system is of particular relevance. Rural credit co-operation is a parallel to banks, an alternative financial system that has begun to firmly occupy a niche in the country's credit and financial system. Its line of business is financial services for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and villagers who cannot be serviced by banks in rural areas. It is proved that the effective activity of credit cooperation is conditioned by the creation of appropriate prerequisites. This is, first of all, voluntary establishment of credit cooperative institutions and accumulation of funds of individuals and legal entities; the purpose of the credit cooperative to ensure the mode of greatest assistance to its participants in credit, settlement, consulting, and other types of services; recognition of the variety of organizational forms of credit cooperative institutions; the direction of use of accumulated financial resources mainly for production purposes; providing financial support to the credit cooperative and legal and consulting assistance from the state. It is determined that the economic essence of credit cooperation is largely determined not by the type and nature of the participants' activity, but by the specifics of the actions and functions that they cooperate with. The involvement of unions of temporarily free funds of all categories of the population will allow to use its income in the areas of residence, in particular to direct them to the development of the agricultural sector. The creation of credit unions should be seen as encouraging the development of small businesses, including: promoting the development of production and processing of agricultural products in personal peasant and small farms, as well as the development of other small forms of farming in the agricultural sector and processing industry (including the promotion of the creation of agricultural service providers cooperatives); expanding the availability of credit resources for private farms and farms, as well as for cooperative units for the production, processing and marketing of agricultural products and services. Abstract:
Methods of processing and cryopreservation are believed to be the most important factors of long term clinical performance of biological heart valve prostheses. That is why we decided to cooperate in evaluating the impact of current AHV (allograft heartvalve) bank protocol on valve tissue morphology. AHV harvested from „heart-beating“ cadaveric donors, considered as a fresh tissue, were compared with valve samples from non-heart beating donors, samples stored in saline, samples treated with antibiotic solution, and finally with cryopreserved valves, stored in liquid nitrogen for months. All samples were dissected, dried with hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) method, gold-coated, studied and photographed in scanning electron microscope Tesla BS 301. Different superficial patterns were found on ventricular and vascular surfaces of „fresh“ semilunar valves. We were able to detect early changes of endothelium after harvesting, denudation of endothelial covering during preservation with and without freezing. Our alternative method of drying samples by HMDS method proved to be suitable for thin membranes of human semilunar valves. Scanning electron microscopy seems to be helpful for morphological control of processing, cryopreservation and liquid nitrogen storage of AHV. We believe that further confrontation of morphological investigation with other methods helps us to develop more suitable protocol of handling AHV in heart valve banking.

Abstract:
Islamic banking’s profit-maximising fervour, building upon the use of interest-resembling products, has raised concerns about its Shariah authenticity and financial stability. While early Islamic economists envisioned an industry built on values of mutuality and participation, architects of Islamic banking have chosen to replicate interest-based conventional banking for the purpose of fast growth. This study has two objectives. First, to narrate the history of Islamic banking, from the theories postulated to the beginnings of the industry. This builds an understanding of why ‘Islamic’ banking operates as it does currently, which has implications for Shariah compliance and financial stability. It is suggested that the mimicking of conventional banks may cause instability since unlike commercial banks, ‘Islamic’ banks face Shariah constraints. This leads to the second objective, which is to analyse the cooperative banking model, which has been described as the closest theoretical model to Islamic banking. Specifically, this study focuses on the model in Europe which, despite its challenges, has managed to silence critics in the way it contributes to communal welfare and financial stability, especially during credit crunches when commercial banks are known to retreat from markets. This first study of a functioning cooperative banking model, in the context of Islamic banking, may thus offer lessons for Islamic banking reform.

The author deflates the conventional myths and stereotypes, formed about the country. Terminal diseases, frightening poorness – these are the first associations of people when mention Africa. The description of Africa as ‘the black continent’ in cartoons or movies make people to perceive this continent with mistrust and some sort of fear. However, the author analyzes disadvantages and benefits of this young continent, taking into account the modern history of Africa. When all African states gained independence, all material resources were plundered, and people could not obtain good education. The author emphasizes that countries of Africa are the current leaders of mobile banking. Ghana is one of the pioneers in using ‘blockchain’ concept for registration of lands and private property. The author also substantiates the possibilities of cooperation between Ukraine and Africa in food security. Ukrainians may finely contribute to development of agriculture and food industry of Africa. Ukraine can also offer its experience in heavy engineering, mining equipment, development of infrastructure, food processing technologies, IT, etc. The author also stresses that the main step for any business, purporting to cooperate with Africa, is determination of a country or region. It is also necessary to establish own target market at the continent. Small countries may offer both good perspectives and limited number of clients, thus it is desirable to examine thoroughly the specific character of the region chosen, taking into consideration the logistics and financial matters. The article puts an emphasis on dimension and diversity of Africa, thus anyone may discover something special in this continent. The aim of this work was to determine the level of efficiency of selected cooperative banks from Masovian region. The efficiency was expressed by ROA and ROE indicators. The research was carried out in 30 randomly selected cooperative banks. The data show that the ROA ratio in surveyed cooperative banks in 2009-2010 was higher than in the commercial banking sector and cooperative banking sector, and in the years 2011–2012 the situation was the opposite. At the same time, ROE ratio for all analyzed years in surveyed cooperative banks was higher than in the commercial banking sector and cooperative banking sector. The size of total assets and equity of cooperative banks had no statistically significant effect on the level of their efficiency ROA and ROE, which means that we reject the first hypothesis. Type of association of cooperative banks did not influence statistically significantly on the level of their efficiency ROA and ROE, which means that we reject the second hypothesis.

Abstract:
Cooperative banking in Poland has more than 150 years of tradition, going back to the period of Partitions. The first Polish credit associations and cooperatives were established in Greater Poland in the years 1861–1862, in the fashion of credit cooperatives for farmers established by Friedrich Raiffeisen and the so-called cooperative “people’s banks” associating craftsmen, that were founded by Franz Schultze. In 1899, on the territory of the Austrian Partition, small credit institutions, the so-called “Stefczyk Savings Unions” (“Kasy Stefczyka”), were created, associating mainly farmers, In the period of the Second Polish Republic (1918–1939), Polish Agricultural Bank (Polski Bank Rolny) was established in Warsaw (1919). The bank’s task was to provide financial backing for agriculture, and in 1921 it was transformed into State Agricultural Bank (Państwowy Bank Rolny), only to become Agricultural Bank (Bank Rolny) in 1948. It was replaced by Food Economy Bank (Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej), called into being in 1975 as a financial head office for cooperative banks which originated from saving and loan cooperatives. In the period of the Polish People’s Republic (1952–1989), state-cooperative banking was in place. The system and economy transformations that took place after 1989 caused crisis and the necessity of state intervention in the Polish cooperative banking. In the years 1990–1994 efforts were made to fix the cooperative banking system through implementation of the Act of June 24, 1994 on restructuring of cooperative banks and Food Economy Bank and on amendments to certain acts. Food Economy Bank was transformed into a joint-stock company as a bank of the National Association of cooperative banks. Besides, nine regional associations were established in the form of a joint-stock company of cooperative banks, which became shareholders of the national bank. The system and functioning of cooperative banks are currently governed by: Banking Law Act of August 29, 1997, Cooperative Law Act of September 16, 1982 and the Act of December 7, 2000 on functioning of cooperative banks, associating thereof and associating banks. The structure of cooperative banking was based on the division into cooperative banks and associating banks. Two associations of cooperative banks are currently operating in Poland: Bank of the Polish Cooperative Movement (Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości S.A.) with its seat in Warsaw and Cooperative Banking Group – Bank (Spółdzielcza Grupa Bankowa – Bank S.A.) with its seat in Poznań. All the cooperative banks are covered by the Bank Guarantee Fund and under supervision of the Financial Supervision Authority. In 2015 the Act of December 7, 2000 on functioning of cooperative banks, associating thereof and associating banks was amended due to the changes implemented in the European Union Law (the so-called CRD IV/CRR package). Financial security of cooperative banks was increased through establishment of the Institutional Protection Scheme (IPS). Cooperative banks are an important element for development of the entire Polish banking system. Therefore, the financial supervision over the entire system of banking and Cooperative Savings and Credit Unions (SKOK) should be conducted in appropriate manner.

Abstract:
The dual nature of cooperative banks is reflected by their formal and institutional solutions. They refer both to banking and to cooperative regulations, especially to those dedicated to relations between the two areas; hence, they result from considering their specialness and consistency. In addition to general cooperative principles which define membership rules in the first place, this paper focuses on codes ruling the coexistence of cooperative banks within a given domain and organizational solution. They include:– collaboration of cooperative banks within a federated structure as forms of association between cooperative (member) banks and the associating bank;– regionalization which defines the framework of coexistence and is combined with the territoriality of operations, or the right to operate in a limited area as independent units with no competition among respective cooperative banks;– subsidiarity which is tightly related to the division of functions between a primary level (cooperative banks) and a higher level (associating banks). This paper aims at identifying to what extent the regulations should be dedicated to cooperative banks or what real impact of cooperative specialness is on legal is solutions. Thus, a diligent examination is necessary to identify those elements of cooperative banking which require dedicated solutions and those which are identical with commercial banking. The solutions are significantly diversified, although there have been attempts to standardize them in some areas following the need to comply with the European standards and regulations, including recommendations issued by the National Union of Cooperative Banks and the European Associations of Cooperative Banks in the EU.

Abstract:
During the banking crisis of the 1990s, French cooperative banks emerged as more resistant and efficient than joint-stock banks, which enabled them to improve their market share and increase their reserve capital. This subsequently became the keystone of the external restructuring that led to the transformation of cooperative banks into large universal banking groups. At the time, their competitive advantage relied mainly on a different approach to risk-taking, which was associated with their cooperative legal form and their specific governance model. However, the same features have clearly not prevailed during the financial phase of the most recent crisis. Whereas governance models in the banking sector have been deeply questioned, the original cooperative model has evolved differently within European countries, with a high level of hybridization in some and a very diffuse cooperative network in others. Some European cooperative groups have been damaged by the crisis, mainly because of the corporate and investment banking that formed part of their activity.Yet the recent crisis has revealed the importance of a resistant and resilient worldwide banking system and the diversity of legal forms and organizations could contribute to achieving this goal. In this paper, we assess the resistance and resilience of major joint-stock banks during the crisis and compare them to cooperative banks in different European countries and Canada. We conduct our analysis at an aggregated/consolidated level for these two categories of banks. Using different indicators (e.g., z-score, loans to the economy, return on equity) as dependent variables, we verify whether the cooperative form is synonymous with greater resistance or resilience, and whether the results may be explained by different organizational schemes in cooperative banking.

Abstract:
Abstract Corporate scandals are not a phenomenon that is unique to the banking industry. However, the examples of misconduct of individual bank employees or even of entire banks that popped up in recent years have promoted the interest in business culture and business ethics in the banking industry. Honesty is one important cultural and ethical dimension. Based on their results of a survey in a large, international bank Cohn et al. (2014a), for example, conclude that the banking industry’s business culture favours dishonest behaviour of employees. The present paper applies the design of Cohn et al. (2014a) to a small sample of regional cooperative banks in Germany in order to verify their outcome. The results of Cohn et al. (2014a) cannot be confirmed. There is no evidence of more dishonesty among employees of the banks in the sample relative to a control group. Business culture in the banking industry differs between banks or group of banks, a fact that needs to be considered e.g. by legislators. JEL Classification: C12, M14, G21, G41

Abstract:
The objective of this research is to evaluate the implementation of CSR program in Islamic banking with economic, social and environmental approach. The research method used is interview and spread the questionnaire to the respondent of CSR beneficiaries, supported by empirical data and literature approach. The analytical technique uses the analysis of Simple Linear Regression. The findings of the research by using t-test that economic aspect, more significant from social and environmental aspect. Economic field run by Islamic bank that is by giving loan without margin or loan of virtue, by organizing poor society in small groups consist of five people, through business assistance and entrepreneurship training to establish business independence. In this case, Islamic banks cooperate with social institutions, Baital-Mal wat Tamwil and Isalmic Financial Services Cooperative. Loan facility funds are obtained from fines, non-halal income, zakat, infaq, alms, and endowments of employees, customers, communities and other social funds. In the theoretical order, this study concurs with the theory of Elkington (1999) and Jim Ife (1995) that in community empowerment should be accompanied by a balanced, economic, social and environmental transformation, the power of that factor will shape the community's independence, in addition to other factors. Normatively, the implementation of CSR programs, driven by awareness to be socially responsible, but generally the interest to form corporate image through assistance feels more prominent, so have not thought about aspects of sustainability of development. Abstract:
The Banking scene in India has undergone a tremendous change due to the Narsimham Committee recommendations since 1992 i.e. with the advent of the new economic policy. It emphasized shift from centralized planning to indicative planning. Thus the committee shifted its onus from ownership to efficiency and competitiveness while ensuring the integrity and operational autonomy of the banks. Financial sector reforms, based on Narsimham committee recommendations, aim at fostering financially strong banking cooperative in a competitive world. As a result of these financial sector developments, policy makers and social thinkers were apprehensive that cooperative banking sector will be facing the challenges of increasing competition, emerging opportunities and withdrawal of government support and may have to abandon its social objectives. But cooperative banking system has some inherent strength in the form of its reach, infrastructure and intimate relations with its customers which have strengthened these banks to make a vital contribution to nations development. Cooperative banking system has progressively matured and is preparing itself to successfully meet new challenges. This paper is focused on one of the main business areas of the District Central Cooperative Banks of Punjab i.e. composition of advances. In this paper, a brief outline has been given about the various loan schemes of the District Central Cooperative Banks and the total loans outstanding in different categories of loans advanced during the period of study i.e. from 2000 to 2010.

The post-crisis period stressed the role of small, local banks in corporatelending, particularly for SME, due to such their advantages as being based onrelationship banking and extensive knowledge of local market. However, it isstill unclear whether it is a short or long-term advantage. The aim of this paper isto analyze the factors affecting the size and quality of the loan portfolios of thePolish cooperative banks. In the empirical part, the study is based on statisticaldata and panel research, based on individual balance sheet data for the banksaffiliated to the BPS SA. The results confirm that the role of cooperative banksin lending to businesses increases, but also pointed to internal diversity of thesector in this area: growth in loans to the corporate sector was particularly strongfor large banks with strong capital, but also resulted in their declining safety andincreasing bad loans portfolio.

Abstract:
The main purpose of this thesis is to present the opinions of clients on the ethical aspects of the activities of cooperative banks in the context of limiting financial exclusion. The author attempts to answer the questions: were clients refused with banking services, what were the reasons for this refusal, do cooperative banks offer electronic banking services to limit financial exclusion. The empirical basis of the issues discussed herein is the study of the subject literature and the results of a survey conducted among 132 clients of selected cooperative banks. The thesis assumes that financially excluded clients are those who have limited access to the products and services offered by cooperative banks. The following methods were used to develop the test results: structural and χ2 test. Based on the results of the survey, general conclusions were drawn. A small percentage of clients of the selected cooperative banks encountered difficulties in accessing banking services. Financially excluded clients are usually single men, living in the countryside, farm workers or physical workers. Electronic banking services are not very popular among clients of cooperative banks. It is difficult to identify the effect of non-cash trading on the level of financial exclusion of these institutions.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the efficiency of the banking business of Japan’s agricultural cooperatives (JAs), which depend heavily on financial business with non-farmers, contradictory to cooperative principles. Design/methodology/approach The authors construct a panel data set over 2005–2016 from the financial statements of JAs’ prefectural-level federations and use the input distance stochastic frontier model with a time-variant inefficiency effect for analysis. Both the flow and stock measures of the banking output are used in identical models and the efficiency results are compared. The authors also investigate the determinants of efficiency by using the Tobit and ordinary least squares regression models. Findings There is strong evidence of significant prefectural differences in efficiency values. The ratio of lending to non-members to total loans is positively related to efficiency. In contrast, the higher reliance on a central organization and credit business leads to lower efficiency. Research limitations/implications Apart from banking, JAs provide mutual insurance business services. As the authors investigate only the efficiency of JAs’ banking business in this study, it would be necessary to investigate the efficiency of their insurance business as well when evaluating JAs’ overall financial business. Originality/value There are few studies that investigate the efficiency of JAs’ banking business and its determinants, although significant attention has been paid to their excessive dependence on the financial business.

Abstract:
In running its business in the field of providing Homeownership Credit facilities by Bank Rakyat Indonesia as a banking institution, it is required to cooperate with insurance companies to bear the risks that might arise in the future for the applicant, in this case as KPR applicant customer. Therefore KPR applicant customers are required to use insurance services from Bank Rakyat Indonesia partner insurance companies for the housing for which the credit is requested. Customers should be given the freedom to choose the insurance product they will choose, rather than being required where the customer has no choice to use insurance other than a consortium between PT. Bringin Life and Heksa Eka Life Insurance, which is against Article 15 paragraph 2 of Law Number 5 of 1999 or often referred to as Business Competition Law. BRI, together with its partner insurance companies, have also conspired in determining the insurance company that will become BRI's partner, because this will benefit all three if there are no other insurance companies that become BRI partners. This certainly gives difficulties for other insurance companies that are not BRI's partners to run their business.

Abstract:
Due to the digital transformation, the banking sector in Germany is undergoing massive change. This structural change is massively influenced by technological progress, regulation and supervision, the low-interest phase and demographic change. The focus of this research is on the comparison of savings banks and cooperative banks in Germany, as there are many similarities between the two banking groups. Both belong to the so-called retail banks. The respective bank clients are very similar due to the regional principle, the structure in regional associations and in their clientele. The main purpose of this research is to investigate which of the two banking groups, savings banks or cooperative banks, is more operationally efficient under the same prevailing competitive pressure from the Digital Transformation. This paper summarises the analysis of both banking groups based on real ratios. The relevance of the findings on this scientific problem is that the comparison of savings banks and cooperative banks in Germany has not been addressed in the scientific literature so far. The aim of the research is to make a statement as to which banking group has performed better given the same external market factors. Furthermore, arguments and counter-arguments within the academic discussion on the topic of digitalization in the German banking market will be compiled. The results of the research can be useful for academics who deal with the digital transformation in the banking sector in Germany.

Abstract:
In this study the principal changes in Polish cooperative banking sector over the past two decades were presented. The primary data obtained from a survey of bank presidents, performed in 2007 on a nation-wide sample of 100 cooperative banks, were supplemented by the banking statistics from the Central Statistical Office and the Polish Financial Supervision. Research provides the evidence that cooperative banks, in general, took advantages from the consolidation process. While the number of the banks was declining, own funds per bank, bank offices and staff were expanding. The banks managed to adjust to the EU requirements by having implemented limits on loan concentration, procedures for counteracting money laundering and meeting minimum capital requirements. They introduced system of the deposit guarantee, monitoring and control of credit risk and adapted new regulations. The cooperative banks for the most part retained their original characteristics. The sector still plays the prominent role in serving and financing of agriculture and rural development.

This study aims to investigate the constraints of corporate governance structures, in the context of cooperative banking. That is, it will try to identify the factors that are the basis of the practice of corporate governance of cooperative banking, such as organizational performance, relationships of trust on the part of customers and the community in general, the image of the competition and to the regulator and the remuneration of the management team. In order to test the hypotheses, a questionnaire was carried out with the administration of the different cooperative banks, obtaining a sample of 58 banks, representing 67% of the total universe. The results point to the existence of a causal relationship between financial performance and corporate governance practices, specifically at the level of cooperative rights and at the level of relationship with clients, society and fiscal council activity. With the adoption of cooperative governance practices, the relationship between the return of cooperators and these practices has not been proven, the same happened with the relationship between the remuneration of managers and the adoption of these practices.

Abstract:
The principal objective of this research paper is to Prioritise Customer Perceived Service Quality (CPSQ) in the proportion of service quality for Indian cooperative banking sector. In order to understand the cooperative banking customer’s perspective and their relative significance, thirty three service quality dimensions are considered and deeply analysed. In addition, Questionnaire of Customer Perceives Service Quality (CPSQ) is also collected and implemented. Here, the necessary data is collected in the months of November 2019 and January 2020 respectively by using convenience sampling method. The data is collected from the state of Utter Pradesh, India. The reason behind choosing Utter Pradesh is, it agriculturally strong and has higher population (around 20 Crores) in India. Here, to prioritise the CPSQ scale, we have used Relative to an Identified Distribution (RIDIT) & Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) and later we also compared the results to check the reliability of these ranking methods. To perform this prioritization we have used seven factors such as Efficiency (EFF); Infrastructure (INF); Effectivenes (EFT); Timely Services (TMS); Bank Image (BIG); Safety & Security (SS) and Up to date technology (UDT). Later, GRA and RIDIT analysis are also conducted to distinguish the prioritization of service quality items. The present study and analysis helps to validate the cooperative banks service quality in general by ranking the service quality dimensions, which are specifically important in Indian banking sector to improve and enhance its quality. Finally, the obtained results shows that, it is apparent that managers of cooperative banks in Indian scenario must focus more on cooperative bank quality dimensions to improve the reliability of their customer’s perception of cooperative banking in terms of better performance and service quality.

Abstract:
Cooperative banks are among those credit institutions that have played an important role in the financial systems of many countries, usually operating supplementary to the traditional commercial banks, mainly at regional level and aiming mostly at supporting SMEs financial needs. They provide traditional banking products to local SMEs even in remote areas. The number of Cooperative Banks in Greece has been decreased from originally 16 banks to 6 in the second half of 2020. The scope of this paper is to examine the managers’ views of 158 SMEs towards Cooperative Banks’ support (banking facilities) over the economic and financial crisis period (2015-2019). The research was carried out the last three months of 2019, using constructed questionnaire to a random sample of 208 Cooperative Banks’ clientele in places where Cooperative Banks have branches. Research showed that SMEs have a quite good opinion for Cooperative Banks presence in Greece.

Abstract:
Abstract We analyse whether the determinants of capital found in the previous literature hold for the special German banking sector comprising three characteristic banking groups including savings banks, cooperative banks and other banks, which differ regarding their ownership and their access to the capital market. Through the use of accounting data from German banks between 1992 and 2001 we find evidence in accordance with the buffer theory of capital for all German banking groups. Furthermore, we also detect some remarkable differences between the three banking groups regarding their determination of capital due to institutional characteristics.

Abstract:
Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies (Saccos) in Kenya have realised a tremendous growth in the subsector and are investing huge amount of their scarce financial resources in digital technology to enhance services delivery and offer a wide variety of products and services range, increased membership mobilisation and size, ensure better structure and effective financial performance. Digital financial Services as used in the Saccos industry is as a result of Information Communication Technology revolution commonly referred to as digital commerce. Many Saccos are steadily changing from manual banking system of operations to providing digital Financial (e-banking) services that include internet banking, M-banking and Automated Teller machine support. The adoption of digital financial Services by the Saccos is a strategic attempt to deal with increased cut throat competition from traditional banking institutions and non-banking financial institutions, to cut costs and add value to their services in order to optimise benefits to the shareholders. Despite the fact that Saccos have rapidly adopted digital financial services to provide services, and that they drive a huge section of the financial sector savings of the economy, they have experienced various challenges such as uncertainty and risk due to digital financial services. The study sought to establish the influence of digital financial services on the financial performance of SACCOs in Kakamega County, Kenya. The specific objectives was to determine the effect of the mobile banking, internet banking, use of credit cards and digital funds transfer on the financial performance of SACCOs in Kakamega County, Kenya. The research was guided by three theories of innovation and technology: Diffusion of Innovation Theory, The Theory of Task-Technology Fit Theory and the Technological context, Organisational context and Environmental context Theory. The study used a descriptive research design. The population of study were staff at the three SACCOs operating in Kakamega County. This consisted of 162 respondents who are the staff of the SACCOs. A sample of 49 respondents was taken which forms 30% of the target population which shall be evenly spread across the three SACCOs. The primary data was collected by use of self-administered semi-structured questionnaire.Collected data was analysed through descriptive and inferential statistics by the use of SPSS. Findings were presented by use of tables, frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviation. The study found that the financial performance of the SACCOs was significantly influenced by the digital financial services instituted by the SACCO managements. They demonstrated to have reliable mobile banking system where most of their customers had enrolled on the mobile banking platform and most of customer queries and updates were sorted via the mobile platform.Given the limitations and findings of this study, the researcher recommends that since there exists a positive relationship between digital financial services and bank performance and that e-banking has brought services closer to bank customer’s hence improving banking industry performance, SACCOs must also enhance the dynamics of the sector and embrace digital banking fully and extensively. Mobile banking faces various challenges among them being, system delays by the mobile money transfer service providers, slow processing of transactions, high transactions costs, limit on the amount of money that can be withdrawn in a day and fraud.

Abstract:
Summary: The structural diversity of the German banking market and the associated variety of business models is thought to have been an important factor in the stability of the German banking market in recent decades. This diversity is manifested both in the three-pillar structure of the German banking industry and within the pillars themselves. However, empirical analysis reveals that there is limited variety within the business models used by the German cooperative banks. Almost all cooperative banks concentrate on the lending and deposit-taking business with customers. Within the traditional business model, two different types of business can be identified, one of which is more focused on lending and the other on deposit-taking.

Abstract:
This paper examines the users’ perspective on the security of Internet banking in Australia within the social context. This user-centered design approach supplements the technological and industrial approaches to security. The user-centered research on banking was conducted at the Royal Melbourne University of Technology University and Griffith University, both of which are part of the Smart Internet Technology Cooperative Research Centre. We conclude that the most effective way to increase the perception of Internet banking security is to increase ease of use, convenience, personalisation and trust. Without the perception of security, there will be little trust in banking and transactions on the Internet. This will impede the use of Internet banking and e-commerce which are increasingly important aspects of the nation’s critical infrastructure.
