Garau, Rolandi Miguel 1981.
Full textThis thesis contributes towards understanding the role of production and labor cooperatives in urban and industrial Catalonia between 1864 and 1936, providing a panoramic overview of their development. The first section provides a status of the issue that certifies the scant attention received by this phenomenon in the historiography. Then, according to their chronological development, there have been stablished three big periods. The first period, we have called the "cooperative myth", corresponds to the second half of the nineteenth century. In that moment were founded the first production and labor cooperatives in Catalonia due to the theoretical approaches of pre-Marxist socialists. The second period analyzed is entitled "Marginalization" (1898-1930). Through the available documentation it has rescued the history of some of the production cooperatives formed during this period. Also it has been analyzed the difficulties, both intrinsic and extrinsic, that motivated the poor development of production and labor cooperatives during this period. In the third and last section, entitled "Eclosion" (1931-1936), it has been assisted to the effective development of production and labor cooperatives during the Second Spanish Republic. Through a comprehensive analysis of all the documentation generated by the Production and Labor Cooperatives Federation and the cooperative and trade union press, it has been analyzed their evolution and problems; their implementation by industrial sectors and crafts; their relations with the rest of the labor movement and the municipal and regional government and, additionally, it has made a quantitative assessment of the phenomenon of production and labor cooperatives taken as a whole. In view of this research it has been possible conclude that more than one hundred production and labor cooperatives were founded during the Second Spanish Republic in Catalonia. Also had an unequal distribution, considering their concentration mainly in the production of glass and trades of the construction sector. These cooperatives proliferated thanks to the collective survival instinct developed by manual workers, whose struggle was focused on avoiding extinction in an economic crisis context.

Full textThe present work was based on data of soybean seed analysis from seed lots produced by Colonia Unidas Cooperative - Paraguay, corresponding to the agricultural years (2007 and 2008). The results of 28 varieties were grouped and compared in classes relating to quantity, as well as for germination and vigor. In 2007 they were 331 seed lots while 2008 they were 271. According to the results the following conclusions were taken: a - The quality of soybean seed produced by the Colonia Unidas Cooperative is in a great extent influenced by the climatic conditions during the seed formation, harvesting and storage; b - The adoption of a system of quality control system from harvesting on is essential to diminish seed loss and; c - The decreases of the physiological quality play a role extremely important role on the amount of seed made available to the farmers, as well as the cost of the seed.

Full textThis investigation addresses the relationship between cinema and social activism. Particularly the way this two elements have been brought together nowadays in Barcelona-after the latest economic crisis and its resulting social protests. Several projects adopt different methods and agree to avoid as much as possible all commercial or institutional mechanisms when it comes to distributing or showing film material. They suggest critical, independent and denunciative content. How are they born? How they connect with past references? How are they organized? How they understand culture? Why they use cinema as a tool for politics? What topics are being produced and spread? How they affect their surroundings? All this questions will be answered reveling their experiences, difficulties, achievements, and daily contradictions, as well as the way they have assumed the cinematographic task from collective empowerment, inter cooperation and self-organization.
Daryanani, Melwani Vibha.
"Low Cost Cinema as a Business Model, New Ways to Produce and Distribute Spanish Cinema (2008-2016)", looks at this method as an alternative way of thinking about film production in Spain. It focuses, above all, on the path of cinema made in Spain since the crisis of 2008, as it is consolidated by this, technological advances and film schools that facilitate experimentation and DIY. We reveal the film made with few resources as one of the ways chosen by the current filmmakers to promote their careers and continue offering different titles to the industry, which is important to understand this phenomenon that, far from disappearing, is becoming increasingly integrated in the media and in an industry that, although at first he ignored it, finally begins to accept it. The first part of the research traces both the Spanish and international backgrounds of Low Cost cinema. The second part deciphers the evolution of this method, always in comparison with the traditional national industry. The third part breaks downs the steps of the business model through several examples of existing films and useful tools that arise from using this method. The research has been carried out with a mixture of analysis of past examples and interviews with the principals of this process. Finally, in the fourth part, all the cases have been analyzed, thus obtaining results on the contribution of the Low Cost to the industry. This way of making films is a sample of alternatives that help, such as crowdfunding, the widespread use of digital tools for promotion and distribution, such as VOD, and the shift towards cooperative work sharing. Although it is not a model to follow in its entirety because in itself, it is not financially supported, although we have been able to see that it generates film culture. Ideally, the combination of Low Cost tools with the traditional industry is what works best.
