Abstract:
The research problem is to establish the patterns of stress-coping patterns connected with life changes experienced by a person. The aim is to identify whether middle-aged women affected by appearance concerns are coping with the stress of growing older. Hypothesis: Women who are constantly using caring aesthetic manipulations connected with their outlook do rather cope with the stress of aging than addict. To cope with the stress of negative self-perception, women too much concerned about their outlook actively use anti-aging aesthetic procedures. The experimental group (N1 = 54; av. age 48 y

Abstract:
People rely on transportation every day to access food, work, and social activities. Transportation insecurity—the lack of regular access to adequate transportation—can therefore cause significant disruptions to livelihoods. Understanding how people experience transportation insecurity in metropolitan areas may contribute to building better transportation systems and help formulate ways to alleviate persistent and underlying transportation issues. In this study, the researchers interviewed San José residents who experience transportation insecurity to better understand their experiences and id

Abstract:
The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region has a long history of coping with natural hazards such as hurricanes, floods, and coastal storm surges. However, climate change is expected to exacerbate the threat of natural hazards and pose new ones. As a result of climate change, average temperatures and sea levels are known to be rising, precipitation patterns might change, and hurricanes could intensify. Many of these changes are already occurring, and are projected to become more severe in the future. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) supports a wide-range of projects in the LAC regio

Abstract:
We designed two novel environmental DNA (eDNA) assays for the detection of Ridgway’s Rail (Rallus obsoletus), and successfully validated each assay using eDNA samples collected from the species’ known distribution within the United States. These assays add to the suite of tools available for the monitoring of this rare and secretive marsh bird, and may help to further elucidate its movement patterns as well as identify important migration corridors. Observed sensitivity of the assays indicates exceptional performance, with limits of detection at ≤ 8 copies of the target eDNA fragment per react
