Abstract The article presents a new edition, translation, and interpretation of the inscription, which was previously published by H. Falk in 2014, of the otherwise unknown Buddhist patron Helagupta (helaüta). The inscription, datable to the latter half of the first century CE, is recorded on five copper plates and is the second longest one known in Kharoṣṭhī script/Gāndhārī language. This edition proposes several new readings and interpretations as well as discussing its cultural implications for issues such as the performance of ancestral rituals by Buddhists, and Buddhological ramifications

Understanding the mechanical response and failure behaviors of thin plates under impact loading is helpful for the design and improvement of thin plate structures in practical applications. The response of a copper plate subjected to underwater impulsive loading has been studied in fluid-structure interaction (FSI) experiments. Three typical copper plates, (a) without a pre-notch, (b) with a cross-shaped pre-notch (+), and (c) with a ring-shaped pre-notch (○) were selected. The threat of climate change has created a demand for superior energy storage devices. One application for them is regenerative braking in hybrid vehicles to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Instead of using brakes, the friction generated from turning electric motors charges batteries stops the vehicle. In turn, the batteries are used to accelerate the vehicle. Since braking time is short, batteries are imperfect for this application due to low rate of energy transfer (power). The class of high Tc superconductors share one common structural aspect, the existence of planes of copper and oxygen ions. These planes are thought to be the source of the superconducting behaviour. They can be represented as a two-dimensional lattice of ions, which facilitates their study using numerical models. One such model is the t − J model. In most studies utilising numerical models, the planes have been considered isotropic. However, recent analysis of cuprate structure has illustrated that this may not be representative of the copper oxide planes. A number of cuprate structures exhib

IBM returned to indirect (cold plate) water cooling in 2008 with the introduction of the Power 575 Supercomputing Node [1]. The node, packaged in a super-dense 2U (88.9 mm) form factor, contains 16 dual core processor modules. An assembly of 16 cold plates was developed to cool the processors. The assembly consists of the cold plates (one cold plate for each processor module), copper tubing that connects 4 groups of 4 cold plates in series, copper tubing that connects each grouping of 4 cold plates, or quadrant, to a common set of supply and return headers, and two flexible EPDM hoses that con

Abstract:
Peru is the second largest producer and exporter of copper in the world. However, the countrys sector has weak background linkages and the emergence of innovative suppliers able to provide high-value products and services is still incipient. This article explores the opportunities to leverage Perus international positioning in the mining industry to foster the development and innovation capacities of local suppliers. Based on data analysis and interviews with local industry stakeholders, this research--which uses the global value chain framework--finds that the incorporation of a larger number

Abstract:
Calcium signaling has been implicated in transducing signals from environmental changes into adaptive responses in plants. Calmodulin (CaM), members of the EF-hand family of Ca2+-binding proteins, represent important relays in plant calcium signals. Here, transgenic rice plants containing OsCam1-1 gene under the control of 35SCaMV promoter (35SCaMV-OsCam1-1) were constructed by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation via pCAMBIA1301 plasmid. Three putative transgenic rice lines harboring the 35SCaMV-OsCam1-1 and two putative transgenic lines harboring the T-DNA from pCAMBIA1301 alone as negative

Research activities in both our laboratories were directed toward development of control of the FLP/frt recombination system for plants. As described in the text of the research proposal, the US lab has been engaged in developing regulatory strategies such as tissue-specific promoters and the steroid-inducible activation of the FLP enzyme while the main research activities in Israel have been directed toward the development and testing of a copper-regulated expression of flp recombinase in tobacco (this is an example of a promoter activation by metal ions). The relevance of the research is due to the need to develop technologies for phytoremediation of the devastated lands in the mining and metallurgical regions of Ukraine and the world. In this regard, the creation of tree plantations adapted to the ecological conditions of such territories is considered by many experts as the most promising option for innovative technologies. However, the development of artificial woodlands requires knowledge of the pedogeochemical character- istics of devastated lands. The aim of the work was to carry out a comparative analysis of the macronutrients and heavy

Abstract:
Streams at Glacier National Park are important because they have some of the cleanest water in the world, they offer awe-inspiring views, and these ecosystems are home to a globally significant community of animals, including imperiled species. This report summarizes trends in chemistry, habitat, and biology for Stream Ecological Integrity (SEI) monitoring at six sentinel stream and river sites in Glacier. From 2007 to 2019 we sampled four stream sentinel sites, three or four times annually. Two additional sites were added at request of Glacier in 2018 to augment information for important Wild

TMG’s Urban Food Futures programme closes its scoping phase with a series of reports summarising the main insights lying the foundation for the next phase of action research. Grounded in the right to food and the six dimensions of food security, this working paper explores how community kitchens, school feeding programmes, and informal saving schemes work and how communities use them to cope with shocks. The paper investigates how vulnerable urban communities in Ouagadougou, Nairobi, and Cape Town use these three components to combat hunger and food insecurity in times of crises such as the Co

Abstract:
Rugose wood is a complex disease of grapevines, which occurs in all growing areas. The disease is spread in the field by vector transmission (mealybugs). At least five elongated-phloem- limited viruses are implicated in the various rugose wood disorders. The most fully characterized of these are Grapevine virus A (GV A) and GVB, members of a newly established genus, the vitivirus. GVC, a putative vitivirus, is much less well characterized than GV A or GVB. The information regarding the role of GVC in the etiology and epidemiology of rugose wood is fragmentary and no sequence data for GVC are a
