It is best known for its role as a cofactor within the mitochondrial respiratory chain where it functions in electron transfer and ATP synthesis. A study was carried out to determine their quantitative traits from six states (Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi) in semi-arid region, Nigeria.
