1 Corinthians 13:4–8a uses sixteen verbs (active in meaning and in the present tense) to express positive and negative characteristics of agapē (love). This choice of verbs sets Paul’s hymn to love apart from other passages where he presents characteristics of love but not through an exclusive use of verbs (e.g., Rom 12:9–21). In 1 Cor 15:54-55, Paul quotes Isa 25:8 and Hos 13:14. A significant distance between these citations and the corresponding MT and LXX has been often explained as Paul’s intervention. The present article discusses the Hebrew original and compares the citations from 1 Cor 15 with other ancient translations. The polyvalence of the original source, semantic shifts due to the target languages, and accretion of meaning in the transmission process explain Paul’s text without a need of charging him of pia fraus. In the end, we try to deduce from this case study some elements of Paul's hermeneutics.

Cor triatriatum dexter is a rare congenital heart anomaly in which a membrane divides the right atrium into 2 chambers. We report the case of a 43-year-old woman who had cor triatriatum dexter and a large atrial septal defect. During attempted percutaneous closure, the balloon disrupted the membrane and revealed that the defect had no inferior rim, precluding secure placement of an Amplatzer Septal Occluder. Surgical treatment subsequently proved to be successful. In patients with an incomplete membrane and a septal defect with well-defined rims, percutaneous treatment can be the first choice.
