Full textThe objective of this dissertation is to characterize the sentence structure and study the phenomenon of null subject object in korean without grammatical greement. The absence of agreement is due to the structural differences between languages. The fact that the subject object of a predicate can be invisible in korean is attributed to the nature of lexical prnouns and the sentence structure: the grammatical feataures are not syntactically inert

Full textThis study is an essay on the prosodic hierarchical structure of Korean speech description. The main idea is illustrated by the complex relation between grammatical morphemes, word order, and prosody of the language. The aim is to describe the prosodic hierarchy of the speech, that which represents a structural organization of the syntagmatic units of the sentence. The present argument is thus to present the Korean prosodic unit from two consecutive approaches: grammatical morphemes are prominent in Korean; and following verification, the prosodic structures become evident in relation to them. It is shown that the grammatical morphemes < -ka >/<-i>,<-(l)ul > and < -nun > are prosodically prominent in read and spontaneous speech. These particular units are where the prosodic contours become evident, thus making it possible to organize the hierarchical structure based on their features. The two experimental studies show the role of prosody. The first shows the relation between prosody, length, and surface syntactic structure. The second experience verifies the redundancy between grammatical morphemes and prosody

Full textThis study is devoted to the research on nominal determination in french, in the enunciative psychomecanic. Throughj the underlining of the ambiguity and variety of the notion of determination, we distinguished determiners in terms of extensity and extension according to the way they modify the noun : formal determiners and material determiners. Korean is a language without articles in which the system of demonstratives is compound (i, geu, jeo) : on the other hand french is binary. Evergthing depends on the distinction made by the speaker. The respective effects of the two articles (un, le) are the expression of the genberic and of the particular, according tonthe speaker's aim in a given situation. In korean, in certain conditions, two particles play the part of thearticle, which also determines the context
Couralet, Stéphane. "« Wuli-Nous » : personne collective et nombre en coréen." Paris, EHESS, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008EHES0072.
Full textThis thesis describes the functions and the values of IFULI 'us' in Korean using a corpus of more than 30,000 tokens. It isolates two productive syntactic patterns: in predicates, the values of WULI are specified by indices which give information on the number of actants in the process described, while in noun phrases, they rely on the semantics of the noun to wich WULI is connected by three syntactic forms: 1) by means of the genitive particle (WULluy N) in which a personalised relationship with the speaker IS expressed; 2) orthographically by a space (1WULI N) which can be interpreted as the inclusion of the speaker in a micro-group specified by the noun ; 3) by a fusion (WULIN) which defines the national links of the speaker. This study combines the Issues of number and of identity with respect to the collective person and shows that the frequent use of WULI indicates an discours strategy of self-reference: the speaker identifying himself through an inclusion in a group

Full textThis dissertation studies the syntax of Classifiers and of Multiple Case Constructions in Korean. The framework is basically Kayne's Antisymmetry theory, but some fundamental tools developed by Chomsky's Minimalist Program are also used, such as Formal Feature Checking. In the first part, the nature of the Classifier and the internal structure of the nominal expressions that contain it are investigated and distinct heads and projections such as Classifier (Phrase) are shown to be necessary. It is argued that a partially parallel syntactic treatment for the nominal and clausal domains in Korean may be established. In the second part, which is devoted to clausal structure with Multiple Case Constructions (i. E. When the same "Case-marker" turns up on several arguments), it is argued that those morphemes are not in fact real Case markers, but clausal functional heads, and that these constructions can be derived via iteration of those heads, followed by a movement triggered by "Attract"

Full textThis thesis deals with some prosodic phenomena related to the structural aspects of interactive discourse. The fundamental assumption for the present study is the existence of underlying discourse structure that determines surface prosodic variation. In order to investigate objectively the relation between discourse and prosody, the hierarchical interactive discourse structure was determined by an auditory test and by an independent textual analysis. . . . The acoustic analysis was carried out to discover global and local prosodic features involved in the discourse boundaries marking and the internal coherence marking of this hierarchically defined interactive discourse structure. . . . Finally, the analysis is concerned to the Fo peck variation of successive discourse units. The result shows that this variation is correlated with discourse function of individual discourse units
