Seo, Mi Won. "Quand la reconstruction mammaire devient une affaire publique : agir et se mobiliser en tant que patientes atteintes d’un cancer du sein en Corée du Sud (2011-2015)." Thesis, Paris, EHESS, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020EHES0063.
Full textIn 2012, in South Korea, an association of breast cancer patients organized a silence vigil before the Constitutional Court to criticize unequal access to breast reconstruction surgery. This unprecedented collective action by patients demanding better access to health care questions the link between emancipation and collective action. This study examines to what extent the collective action and the discourse of patients mobilized to demand better access to breast reconstruction are emancipatory and explores other possible ways of emancipation. An ethnographic survey was carried out in Seoul for 7 months between 2013 and 2014 and a sociological intervention was put in place for three months in 2015. The observation of patients' daily lives took place in the national patients’ association and in a public hospital. About 60 interviews were conducted with women and professionals who work with (breast) cancer patients. The thesis accounts for the way in which breast cancer is introduced into the national welfarist politics and economy and while being crossed by social norms. The analysis reveals the messages conveyed by women in the name of their liberation. It also shows their messages foster tensions between patients of different socio-demographic profiles rather than attenuating them, while promoting conformity with social norms and the biomedical culture of cancer. The thesis reveals how the experience of the body of patients in the process of care pathway is the basis of their ability to act vis-à-vis the medical profession
Chun, Chong-Yoon. "Education philosophique et éthique à l'école et au collège, à la lumière de la pensée de Matthew Lipman et de Paul Ricoeur : expériences pédagogiques coréennes et visée pédagogique universaliste." Université Marc Bloch (Strasbourg) (1971-2008), 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008STR20046.
Full textPurpose of this study is to present a philosophical and ethical education in the light of confrontation of Matthew Lipman’s and Paul Ricœur’s thoughts. Through this confrontation, we at the same time seek to promote philosophy for children of Lipman in the educational field and to build up a pedagogy of the mutual recognition inspired by Ricœur’s hermeneutical philosophy. Although philosophy for children is presented in the form of an apology for the philosophical practice among children, it does not escape some limits. Thus we try to articulate this philosophy for children along with some contemporary major thoughts (those of Habermas, Buber, Jacques, Bachelard and Ricœur) in order to cure some limits of Lipman’s approach. This multiple articulation allows us not only to philosophically enrich Lipman’s philosophy for children, but also to rise to a new perspective on child education based on Ricœur’s hermeneutical philosophy, which seems to be appropriate for the difficult situation of current education
Full textThis work explores the pattern of the repetition of the history between (South) Korea and Japan in several South Korean blockbusters since 1998. The 1990s, which was prophetised to mean the disintegration of the nation-state, marked the return of "ethnic nationalisms". The comeback of nationalisms that follows the end of the confrontation of the two blocs is manifested in the case of South Korea and Japan by a resurgence of memorial issues between the two countries. In the first part, we analyze how the issues from the colonial period that reappeared in the early 1990s transformed Japan into the new "national enemy" of South Korea at a time when relations between the two countries are developing and the consumption of cultural goods producted by the other side is unprecedented. The reaffirmation of the state in certain sectors that accompanies the South Korean nationalism of the 1990s is realized, among other things, by the establishment of policies in favor for the development of the national film industry. The alliance of the state and several chaebol (South Korean family conglomerates) allows the South Korean film industry to regain popularity through the production of South Korean blockbusters. After brought to light the proximity between Hollywood, Chinese, Argentinean blockbusters and South Korean blockbusters, we establish the existence of what we call a "national aura" at the center of the consumption of these films and which makes it possible to consider them as national films, for in spite of its fictitious character, the nation has real effects on the populations of the nation-states. The South Korean blockbusters staging the national history have become the mirror of the national spectacle and we devote our last part to the representation of the repetition of history in the three films at the center of our problematic. The analysis of the films allows us to understand that the struggle to defend national history in the resurgence of memorial issues is staged, like Louis Bonaparte described by Karl Marx, in the past struggles for the defense of sovereignty National level

Full textSince the financial and economic crisis of 2009, China's foreign policy has been presented as more assertive and likely to destabilize the Asia-Pacific region. However, using a neoclassic realist framework, we consider that because of an insecurity complex due to the lack of parity with the United States, China’s foreign policy is characterized by the implementation of a strategy of "maintaining stability" in the Korean peninsula in order to guarantee its continued ascent. China is facing a rise paradox, its capabilities are increasing but its insecurity is not reduced. Chinese academics emphasize the power gap with the United States, present their country as a fragile and partial power, and consider the US rebalancing strategy in the Asia–Pacific as a containment strategy. This insecurity complex leads China to avoid instability in the peninsula since it could provoke the collapse of the North Korean regime and open a Pandora's Box. From 2008, the Korean peninsula has become deeply unbalanced due to the political transition in Pyongyang, and the election of a conservative president in Seoul. China implements its stabilization strategy which results in an unconditional support to its neighbor at the expense of its relations with Seoul and Washington. The partial rebalancing between the two Koreas in late 2012 enables China try to weaken the US and Japanese influence in the region while maintaining its priority to stability. Beijing staged a tactical change following the third North Korean nuclear test, and adopts an equidistant Korea policy

Full textThe Confucian family model still exists today in Korea. The married couple of which the husband is also an elder son is the incarnation of this tradition wherby patrilocality and patrilinearity reflect the pre-eminence of the filial relationship over the relationship between the married couple. In light of our corpus (interviews with such couple who have been married for less than ten years), our aim is to describe the nature of married life, which is inevitably linked to intergenerational life. Married couple, however, are increasingly attempting to become independent. The key reason for the change in family relationships is the way in which wives of elder sons interpret the tradition via behavioral language. The filial relationship and the relationship between the married couple are in tension ; the attitudes, roles and concerns of each family member come into conflict. Hence, a new form of family life is constructed

Full textThis study investigates the genre of Prime Time South Korean Romantic TV serials (TV dramas),known as k.drama abroad. The first section introduces the history and evolution of the Korean television system. It shows how the system emerged from the influence of general-interest TV channels, such as KBS and MBC,but especially took shape after the foundation of the private TV Channel SBS, which helped to trigger the crazefor Korean audiovisual content in Asia (Korean Wave). The second section describes the history and typology of Korean TV Drama, which sets up my analysis of the Prime-Time TV Schedule from 1992 to 2005. The analysis shows the predominance of TV Dramas and short romantic serials, called “miniseries” by distributors but “trendy dramas” by specialists. I then question those two generic labels, compare them and show their incongruity. After problematizing these labels, I conduct an analysis of fifteen Prime Time TV dramas airedduring the study period and selected because of their audience or representative aspects. By trying to discover ageneric formula, I show the similarities with serial literary romance but differences regarding location and number of secondary narratives. I then demonstrate that the narrative process contains some particular qualities, with a focus on the fluidity of the narrative and the representation of time (coincidence of narrative time withviewing time). The third section of the analysis of the generic process shows the attention to displaying musicand images with an emphasis on sentimental tone. The final section deals with the “mediatization” of theaudiovisual narrative. The process entails the hybridization of content, the consideration of gender in messagingand the strong emphasis on marketing which concentrates on product placement

Full textDissertation is based on the studies of 18 life stories of korean women. By observation and analysis of these women's life experiences, we tried to find out the answer to the question : why some women have succeed in constructing herself as an ‘woman subject' while the others have failed? To respond to this question, we dealt with the themes as following : 1 mother/daughter relation 2 experience of separation and solitude during the childhood and adolescence 3 the discovery of alternative mode of life. 4. Financial autonomy and intellectual resources. 5 the marriage and marital relation. 6. Feminin support group. 7 late blooming. We also analyzed the different aspects of women of different generations

Full textThis thesis is a research on the motivation and the activities of the Christian humanitarian workers, in this particular case, evangelical Protestants, studied through a monographie study on World Vision Korea, a Protestant humanitarian NGO created during the Korean War. Although the principles of the contemporary humanitarianism are universally respected, the motivation that inspires Christians to commit themselves in the humanitarian aid is profoundly different from the conviction of their secular colleagues. The main objectives of this study are to identify the differences of conviction and inspiration of the Christian humanitarian workers, those profound differences !bat remain impercitible except indirectly, during a crisis, as NK famine case demonstrates. It is about this difference which was revealed during the North Korean famine, the answer to the following questions: "why do we commit ourselves to humanitarian action?" and "who is neighbor?” It is the message of the parable of the Good Samaritan who indeed inspires the humanitarian aid of those who see in their commitment the Christian responsibility and imperative towards humanity
Full textThe transformations brought upon by the rise of social networks and music streaming platforms have caused the birth of new ways to consume music. This thesis is about one of them, exclusive to fans of Korean popular music. More precisely, it is about a novel activity called mass-streaming, popular amongst the K-pop (Korean Pop) fan community. This practice consists in the use of specific methods that are geared towards the quickest rise possible in streams associated to a particular song on streaming platforms. The aim of this thesis is to determine the measure in which mass-streaming has an influence on the music industry and the fan community. Different conceptual models are applied in order to formulate an answer to that question, namely those of Monde des Arts (Becker 1984), symbolic capital (Bourdieu 1994) and subcultrual capital (Thornthon 2013). As a case study, it is Korean boyband Beyond The Scene (BTS) and its fan community that are studied. Data collection took place in two distinct phases. The first, which took place entirely on microblogging site Twitter, consisted in the creation of a collection of tweets about mass-streaming. The second was made up of a series of semi-directed interviews with music industry professionals. In order to present a complete picture of what mass-streaming is, a description of the historic context and causes that lead to its emergence is made, as well as the presentation of the methods used by fans. Finally, the different impacts of the studied practice are considered as different types of symbolic capital (economic, social, cultural, subcultural) in order to represent as precisely as possible the potential repercussions of this new practice on all parties involved in its functioning.

Full textAt the end of the Second World War, Koreans constituted the main foreign community in Japan. Many of them were subjected to discrimination, and lived precariously or even in abject poverty. From the latter half of the 1950s, when North Korean leaders were welcoming them and guaranteeing them decent living conditions, repatriation to North Korea represented hope for a better future for many of these Koreans. Between 1959 and 1984, more than 93,000 people – of whom 2,000 were Japanese women married to Koreans – arrived at the 38th Parallel North. Nevertheless, the Japanese government, confronted by requests from the families of these Japanese women from 1974, tried to obtain information on their whereabouts, and asked for their return to Japan. The present work establishes a mapping of the actors implicated in the decision-Making process concerning repatriation operations to North Korea, but also in the negotiations retated to the Japanese women. More specifically, this study highlights the role of the “subsidiary actors” – of which the Japanese Red Cross and national parliaments are the most prominent – those that intervened where the government’s margins for manoeuvring were narrow in the absence of official diplomatic relations between Japan and North Korea. This institutional constraint led to an investment in fields of action that had traditionally been relegated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (negotiation, protection of nationals abroad, intelligence, etc.) by these “subsidiary actors”, and a subsequent analysis of these actors provided both a more complete and less state-Centred image of Japan’s foreign policy
