Abstract:

Diploma thesis is focused on the personality of the Arcangello Corelli and his contribution on the field of musical forms and violin. Work is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter I describe Arcangelo Corelli ´s life in a historical context.In the second chapter I focus on musical forms whose development contributed Corelli and I also give a concentration on individual works. The third chapter is devoted to the field of issue of the ornamentation of 17th and 18th century as well as Corelli´s fifth opus, which is an indispensable source of knowledge to period - style ornamentation.

Only a few of RakJimaninov's compositions were popular with audiences during the lifetime of this Titan of the piano. Such youthful works as the Prelude in c# minor, op. 3, no. 2 and the Piano Concerto no. 2, op. 18 demonstrated only one facet of a creative process that evolved throughout his life. This document identifies elements of a stylistic change which occurred in several of the pieces Rachmaninoff wrote during the last years of his life. Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), who suffered as a result of the war, left Russia and went to America. He never returned to Russia. With his unique life experience and personality, Rachmaninoff’s music reveals both deep nostalgia mood and Russian style. Variations on a Theme of Corelli, composed in 1931, was Rachmaninoff’s final piano solo work. His writing style and compositional technique have reached maturity in this piece, which is one of the most representative works during his late period. Rachmaninoff moved to American in 1918. During a vacation to Paris in 1931, he finished his last solo piano composition, Variations on a theme of Corelli, Op. 42. Rachmaninoff structured this work used the theme of La Folia’s melody and harmony. With this structure, he developed his composition to 23 sections, including a main theme, twenty variations, an intermezzo, and a coda. The variations combined elements
