Abstract:
The study of the body of Christ in Tuscan painting of the fourteenth century and the first half of the fifteenth century implies a double questioning : is there a noticeable evolution in the rendering of the body during this period and is there a thorough aim on the painter's part to render the dual nature of Christ, human and divine ? This approach is particularly relevant because it concerns the figure o Christ in the presence of man. In the representations of the Baptism and the Crucifixion, man and God appear unclothed and in the same situation. Thus, it is possible to compare Christ with the neophytes about to be baptised and then, with the two crucified thieves. The study of the resurrected body will subsequently determine if its rendering is differetn from the baptised or crucified bofy and if its ambiguity is addresses by the painter. The analysis of texts by the Church Fathers or those of Thomas Aquinas and Bonaventure reveals the dogmatic stance of the church and the mendicant ordres on baptism, crucifixion and resurrection. The study of the preachers' sermons and the mystics' witness accounts of their vision of Christ attempts to define the perception of the body in the 14th and 15th century and its visual representation

Abstract:
Commercial aviation is a vital part of the United States economy. It generates over $1 trillion annually, which is more than 5% of the U.S. GDP, and produces approximately 10 million jobs. Every year there is an increase in commercial air traffic. This is attributed to expanding trade between states and other countries, which requires larger amounts of cargo aircraft in operation, and also catering to the growing number of middle and upper class passengers who travel for business and pleasure purposes. A rise in commercial aviation leads to the use of more aviation fuel on a monthly and annual basis. This in turn leads to escalated levels of combustion by-products from jet and turbofan engines into the atmosphere. The negative effects of these by-products range from producing poor air quality and consequent health hazards to contributing to global warming. This study is aimed at assessing the impacts of aircraft emissions on the local air quality in Corpus Christi using the Emissions and Dispersion Modeling System. Flight data for the study was obtained from the Department of Transportation's Research and Innovative Technology Administration. Analyses of the emissions were compared on monthly, annual, engine type and airline provider bases. Climatic, economic and anthropogenic factors were identified in the analyses.

Full text
Abstract:
The main scholars always depicted the High Book of the Grail as a novel which borders on barbarism. The bursting of the frames of arthurian writing is significant in its most iconic episodes as well, which reveal a huge gap between "High Scripture" and a glorification of the materiality of beings. The novel seems based on a double postulation up and down, towards materiality and spirituality. The study of events and senefiances of death applies to grasp the writing of in-between, while emphasizing the study of two major elements: the inherent visual dimension to the representation of death and methods of its own writing which sketches the outlines of a "funeral writing." Visual paradigm relays the evocative power of the dead narrated while that fateful dominant narrative seems to be one of the most efficient guarantee of the unit of a work whose structure is relevent to illusion or arcana. The hermeneutic thought process of this study considers at first the vocabulary of death, before addressing the circumstances of the "instant mortel", the two spiritual and temporal sides of death, the always powerful unity of the living and the dead. After some stylistic considerations, as well as rhetorical, historical and anthropological ones, the last chapters move to the field of poetics, in a world where death appears fundamentally ubiquitous

Chris Cunningham is the main subject in this thesis. Cunningham was one of the most influential and creative music video directors in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Visible throughout his art is the theme of the body and its innards - an important and wide discussion in contemporary culture studies. The hypothesis of this text is that the music video is one of the main audiovisual narratives of postmodern culture from the aspect of new aesthetics and artistic experiments. Cunningham adds original marks to the characteristics that constitute contemporary art, especially the one that has placed the body under interrogation and also the art object as waste. The contemporary art discussion in this thesis is inspired by psychanalysts Jacques-Allan Miller and Gerard Wajcman and the positioning of the object, and a new gaze at it is provided by Didi-Huberman. Concerning the role of the body in this setting, Santaella brings a contribution on it as an art support, besides presenting much of the specific problems of the body in culture. Raymond Bellour, Philippe Dubois and Arlindo Machado with their discussions around film and video allow the insertion of the music video as a language with its own characteristics and history, as the theorists Andrew Goodwin, E. Ann Kaplan and Carol Vernallis point out. The Lacanian theory provides a formal way to analyze and discuss the body from an instinctive perspective that drives the subject in the contemporary world. In order to prove this assertion and the hypothesis of this thesis, three semiotic-psychoanalytic analyses were done on the following works: All is Full of Love (1999), Flex (2000) and Rubber Johnny (2005)
De modo a comprovar tal afirmação e a hipótese desta tese, três análises de cunho semiótico-psicanalítico abordam os trabalhos: All is Full of Love (1999), Flex (2000) e Rubber Johnny (2005)

Abstract:

The letters of Paul testify to the prominent role that suffering played not only in the life of the apostle, but also in the lives of the communities to which he wrote. Startlingly, Paul does not express either surprise or frustration at suffering’s presence, but instead identifies it as an essential feature of Christian existence: suffering (in some way) derives from union with Christ, and thereby shares in Christ’s own suffering. Although the concept of “suffering as participation with Christ” (SPC) has received some attention within contemporary scholarship, I argue that the conversation would be enriched by the addition of a project that offers detailed readings of key moments in which SPC appears in Paul’s writings, that accepts all the letters in the Pauline canon as equally valid witnesses to “Paul’s thought,” and that uses the findings generated by this exegetical-canonical reading strategy to produce a Pauline “theology” of SPC. The thesis of the dissertation is that (the canonical) Paul’s theology of suffering—read from the tripartite perspective of exegesis, canon, and theology—builds on three foundational convictions (i.e., Christology, eschatology, and cosmology) out of which four correlative commitments emerge (i.e., suffering as salvation’s “prerequisite,” Christ’s suffering as democratize-able, all Christian suffering as participation in Christ’s suffering, and suffering as the site of a profound experience of the love of God in Christ). Abstract:
“Creating Community in Isolation: The History of Corpus Christi’s Molina Addition, 1954-1970” examines the history of the Molina Addition in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and its serving district, the West Oso Independent School District, from 1954 to 1970. Specifically, this essay begins with an analysis of the elite-driven campaign to annex the blighted Molina Addition in September and October 1954. The city intended to raze the neighborhood and develop middle-class homes in place of the newly annexed neighborhood. Following the annexation of the Molina Addition, African American and ethnic Mexican residents initiated protracted struggles to desegregate and integrate schools that served their area, the West Oso Independent School District, as detailed in the chapter, “The West Oso School Board Revolution.” The chapter examines the electoral “revolution” in which Anglo rural elites were unseated from their positions on the school board and replaced by African American and ethnic Mexican Molina Addition residents. The third chapter, “Building Mo-Town, Texas,” focuses on residents’ struggle to install indoor plumbing, eliminate pit privies, construct paved roads, and introduce War on Poverty grants to rehabilitate the neighborhood. This chapter also offers a glimpse into the social life of Molina youth during the 1960s.

Abstract:
Corpus Christi among of the largest industrialized coastal urban areas in Texas. The strategic location of the city along the Gulf of Mexico allows for many important industries and an international business to be located. The cluster of industries and businesses in the region contribute to the air pollution from emissions that are harmful to the environment and to the people living in and visiting the area. Volatile organic compounds (VOC) constitute an important class of pollutants measured in the area. The automated gas chromatography (Auto GC) data was collected from Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and source apportionment analysis was conducted on this data to identify key sources of VOC affecting this study region. EPA PMF 3.0 was employed in this sources apportionment study of measured VOC concentration during 2005 - 2012 in Corpus Christi, Texas. The study identified nine optimal factors (Source) that could explain the concentration of VOC at two urbane monitoring sites in the study region. Natural gas was found to be the largest contributor of VOC in the area, followed by gasoline and vehicular exhaust. Diesel was the third highest contributor with emissions from manufacturing and combustion processes. Refineries gases and evaporative fugitive emissions were other major contributors in the area; Flaring operations, solvents, and petrochemicals also impacted the measured VOC in the urban area. It was noted that he measured VOC concentrations were significantly influenced by the economic downturn in the region and this was highlighted in the annual trends of the apportioned VOC.

Abstract:
The objective of the thesis presented here is to study one of the many artistic consequences of medieval devotion to the Eucharist in Catalan bishoprics: Corpus Christi altarpieces. More specifically, the main aim is to analyse the iconographic cycles represented on those fourteenth and fifteenth century altarpieces –some of them preserved and some others known thanks to documentary evidence. With the intention of understanding the circumstances that gave rise to the appearance of these works and deepen the knowledge of their iconography, the first part of the thesis focusses on the emerging cult to the Eucharist, which, in the late middle ages, acquired an indisputable centrality with the institution of the solemnity of Corpus Christi. Based on the theoretical doctrine of the real presence of Christ in the consecrated species, which is the real agent of devotion, we analyse the main pious expressions that were derived from this devotion. Next, we give an overview of the phenomenon in the Catalonia of that time, yet to be published.   Once the religious background is established, the second part of the thesis, which is the main part, studies the Corpus Christi altarpieces. In order to contextualize the phenomenon, we make a brief overview of some of the main implications of the cult in the artistic field, including the appearance of chapels devoted to the body of Christ, which are the natural liturgical framework of the works to be studied, although not the only one. It is important to point out that, initially, the works with the above mentioned dedication preserved in the area, mainly pictorial altarpieces, are rare in contrast with the power of the cult and, unfortunately, there is not much preserved documentation on the lost works. Notwithstanding, a diverse and significant set of altarpieces has survived that allows us to establish the main thematic vectors, beyond the particularities, that must have normally made up the iconographic programmes. We dedicate the last chapters of the thesis to these, both those that have a long tradition and those arising from the effervescence of devotion, which are pertinent reflections on the work and its iconography, primarily aimed at highlighting the real presence of Christ in the consecrated bread and wine. Firstly, we analyse the outstanding presence of the iconographic theme of the Last Supper, as the central image of the institution of the sacrament of the Eucharist. Secondly, we look at the weight the Christian figures had within the framework referred to, with special emphasis on the two cycles that seem to have played a leading role, namely, the childhood of Christ and the Passion. Thirdly, we reflect on the recurring presence of the scenes of the Eucharistic liturgy, primarily the Elevation of the consecrated host and the Procession of Corpus Christi, which unfailingly link the iconography of the works studied with illuminated manuscripts. Finally, the last chapter re-examines the numerous figurations of Eucharistic miracles that concur and evidence a variety of known sources in Catalonia in that period. And this without neglecting, of course, those expressions that have their origin in a local cult, which, unfortunately, have largely perished. The thesis also includes a catalogue with the entries of the nine altarpieces and a set of various kinds of documents that aim to give an overall vision of the Eucharistic worship in Catalonia and its artistic repercussions. The bibliography, which might be used as an effective tool for further research on this field, closes this thesis.

Abstract:
In dealing with the Pauline concept of the church as the body of Christ (s oma Christou), numerous New Testament scholars and others have tried to come to grips with a fundamental but yet unresolved issue--the nature of the relationship between Christ via his own body and the church as body. Embedded in much of the discussion is the implicit assumption that s oma Christou as ecclesiological language does point to Christ's once crucified but now risen body in some direct way.
This thesis examines that basic assumption in the light of the 18 ecclesiological references to soma found in the Pauline corpus. We argue that such an assumption is implausible and we conclude that it is simply the human body (any human body) which acts as a metaphorical signifier for the church; further, that Christ's personal body, crucified and risen, becomes relevant only in a larger Christological and soteriological sense.

Abstract: This work has as its leading thread the study of images in the anthropological Field. The catholic party of Corpus Christi was chosen as a research object for being an important cultural celebration in our country, which manifests itself mainly through visuality. Exploring it through photographs and iconographies provide us possibility of both plastic and symbolic approaches. Initially I introduce the research trajectory in which text and image reveal some notes I took, plus the work report, the pathways and the method taken in this research. Secondly I show some iconographies, engravings that tell the Corpus Christi's story also by text and images. These are interesting for revealing an unique dynamics, which I name here narrative-images, in which numeric indications and texts trace a reading path for these pictures. After this first structural approach, I attempt to understand how sacred and human are revealed in these engravings and how text and image are employed in these representations. This work's relevance lays in revealing how two forms of human communication, text and image, can have its maximum potentialities once they meet each other. Inserting these question in the anthropological field, we can get to know the connections that link studies on image and studies on society.

Abstract:
This study focuses its analysis on the perception on BTL advertising in religious traditional festivities which is carried out in crowded areas in order to become visible. The case study is the festivity of Corpus Christi in Cusco in 2019 and the target public involved in the study is the members of the Council of Brotherhoods, representatives of each of the fifteen brotherhoods that participate in that event actively. They carry images of the saints and virgins from each church located in different districts and city areas; they also participate taking decisions about the festivity which are of great importance for the local population. The objective of this study is to analyze the perception that the members of the Council of Brotherhoods have of BTL advertising in Cusco’s Corpus Christi festivity. The methodology is based on a qualitative approach, using the structured surveys as data collection tool. Among the main findings in this study, in relation to perception, it is evidenced that there is no emotional link between the festivity attendees and the BTL advertising since this last one is considered an external factor that distorts the real and essential meaning of a traditional religious manifestation of such magnitude. Furthermore, this advertising is considered to be strictly commercial and it is stated that the target public does not obtain any benefit from it. Finally, it is concluded that BTL advertising in traditional religious festivities can be more appropriate when the real meaning and essence of this type of manifestations are respected in order not to damage the announcers’ reputation.

Abstract:
Cambridge, Corpus Christi College MS. 278 is an early-fourteenth-century trilingual manuscript of the Psalms from Norwich Cathedral Priory, an urban cathedral church staffed by Benedictine monks. This manuscript is notable because it contains one of six Middle English Metrical Psalters, the earliest Middle English translation of the Psalms, as well as a full Anglo-Norman Oxford Psalter, the most popular French translation of the Psalms in late medieval England. While the Middle English Metrical Psalter is a remarkable and understudied text in and of itself, the Metrical Psalter of CCC 278 is even more interesting because of its monastic provenance and innovative layout. This thesis explores the questions of why a monastic institution would produce a manuscript of two complete, prominently displayed, vernacular Psalters with only highly abbreviated Latin textual references; what sociolinguistic and political forces drove the production of this innovative manuscript; and how the Middle English Metrical Psalter in particular was read, and by whom. Because there are no annotations, colophon, prologue or external documentation to provide clues to either the intended or actual use of the manuscript by the Priory monks, this thesis undertakes a detailed historicization and contextualization of the book in its urban, religious, linguistic and social settings. In addition, the lenses of community, mediation, and authority are applied, leading to the conclusion that CCC 278 and its Middle English Metrical Psalter were likely used by the monks to reach out to Norwich’s élite laity in order to form a mixed reading community around the book—a reading community controlled by the Priory.

The main objective of this research is to discuss how to configure the language and communication practices performed in the sitcom Todo mundo odeia o Chris (2006). We'll make use of the contributions of the metapragmatic function and metadiscursive schemes (SIGNORINI, 2008) about how the process of social difference and, consequently, of body marker tiers are legitimized communicative practices. This process, articulated to the historical events of ritual acts of speech (AUSTIN, 1998; PEIRANO, 2002; DORNELLES, 2002), produces discourses which effect the intelligibility of the bodies with signs of differentiation, considering that this is a basic construction in the perpetuation of the coloniality of knowledge and power (QUIJANO, 2005) that shapes the way the world is read by an epistemology that regulates and hierarquizes differences. The text-speech Todo mundo odeia o Chris, being translated/dubbed (MARTINS & AMORIN, 2013) producing the trace of the compulsory black diaspora (SANSONE, 2003; GILROY, 2001), is reentextualized from the local-global repertoire (MIGNOLO, 2003) of the brazilian translator, like the language can be used to perpetuate, architect and ritualize normalizing discourses for the control, addressing and notification of bodies (BUTLER, 2003; 1997; PINTO, 2002; 2013a; 2013b). Such actions make the black body vulnerable to acts of naming and violence that historically subordinate them. For this reason, the media narratives (SILVERSTONE, 2002), by providing mediated experiences about the world by the writing of the scenario of signification, enable T.M.O.C to charge the spirituality of the humor (BERGSON, 2001; SALES JR., 2006) via poetic strategies in the exercise of the language (BAUMAN & BRIGGS, 2006) and act against the dominant ideology. The black body is a sign still segregated and undervalued in the context of coloniality/modernity/globalization/State in the Americas, what constitutes a transterritorial fight that specifies in diferent locations while playing the role of dominant forces. So, when T.M.O.C shows a narrative that not only inserts the black body into visibility but do it in a reflexive and critical form with the metapragmatic action, it contradicts the cordiality, the cultural communicability and the not-said that directs the brazilian situation with a neurosis born of itself (GONZALEZ, 1984).

Abstract:
The subject of this study is the compilation of an Old English homiliary contained in the companion volumes, Cambridge, Corpus Christi College, 419 and the original portions of 421 (together designated N in this thesis), written as a hitherto unidentified centre in the first half of the eleventh century. The collection comprises twenty-three Old English homilies: seven by AElfric, six by Wulfstan, and ten of unknown authorship. It is of particular significance as a witness to the use of anonymous homilies in the eleventh century. I provide a commentary on the anonymous homilies, discuss the textual affiliations of the collection as a whole, and investigate its place of origin. A detailed examination of the two manuscripts provides information about the exemplars from which they were copied and the uses to which they were put. I demonstrate that N was a popular collection - it contains corrections and revisions by at least twenty-one different hands - and that it travelled to Exeter at a time when Old English manuscripts were still in use. Eight of the anonymous homilies in N have been edited by A. S. Napier, Wulfstan: Sammlung der ihm zugeschriebenen Homilien (Berlin, 1883), but have never been fully discussed. The ninth has not been adequately edited (it was edited from a single manuscript by A. O. Belfour, Twelfth-Century Homilies in MS Bodley 343, EETS o.s. 133 (London, 1909) as homily VI). I provide an edition from all the surviving manuscripts as an appendix. The unpublished variants of one manuscript of the tenth anonymous homily (edited by Bruno Assmann, Angelsáchsische Homilien und Heiligenleben, Bibliothek der angelsáchsischen Prosa 3 (Kassel, 1889) as homily XI) are listed in a second appendix. I describe the sources of each anonymous homily and show how the homilist has used those sources. I also establish the textual relationship of all surviving manuscripts of the homilies and show how each homily has developed in the course of transmission. The textual relations and development of the homilies by AElfric and Wulfstan are described more briefly. The language of all the homilies is discussed in a separate chapter. As a result of these investigations I demonstrate that N was compiled from eleven different exemplars, some of which had already enjoyed a considerable history by the eleventh century. The collection was compiled to provide basic Christian instruction, which is given added urgency by an insistence on the imminence of judgement. I conclude that it was assembled at a small monastery dominated by Canterbury influences - probably the unknown monastery which the manuscript Cambridge, Trinity College, B.15.34 (containing a collection of AElfric's homilies) travelled to in the Anglo-Saxon period.

This paper aims to understand the meaning of the Feast of Corpus Christi today, as well as its relation with space and religion. The main point of this work is to analyze this ceremony considering the ludic, the artistic, the perfomative and the ephemeral essence it holds. Corpus Christi is a thirteenth century catholic procession that celebrates Christ’s real and substantial presence in the Eucharist; it’s the day when the Blessed Sacrament it taken to a procession. The ethnographic setting to be covered in this paper is the celebration of this solemnity in N. Srª da Piedade Parish, in Mage, in the Rio de Janeiro State, and this essay will investigate the reasons and the meanings attributed to this art by those who make it. Considering that the Corpus Christi rugs are made on the street and belong to this context, one of the main points of this research has been to analyze this sacred-profane dichotomy, not as opposed categories but as interactive ones. Another aspect here covered is the production of the rug, so that the symbolic action of drawing holy pictures on this unusual space – the street – can be understood. Along with those multiple possibilities of analysis, the idea of “fest” and its collective effervescence character, which is able to freshen pacts and reinforce communion, will be discussed. All these categories - which are open to many different analyses -whenever it comes to the production of the rug or to the procession, are the ones who certify the uniqueness of this celebration.

Abstract:
For the past ten years I have conducted research in the town of Chuao (Aragua State), an area settled in the 16th Century, site of the oldest and most renowned cocoa plantation of Venezuela. By the mid-17th century, the owner turned control of the enterprise over to the Roman Catholic Church, which administered it through the Inter-diocesan Seminary until 1827, at which time, by direct order of Simon Bolivar, the plantation became the property of the University of Caracas (today the Universidad Central de Venezuela) until 1883. From then it came under the direct control of the State.;The inhabitants are descended from African slave populations brought in by Spanish colonists; and the area can only be reached by sea. The relative isolation of Chuao makes it a special place in which one can study the evolution of artistic and rituals forms. Chuao appears to be one of the few African communities in modem Venezuela which has actively maintained links with its past. The Chuao tradition has evolved in the local integration of official (Spanish Catholicism) and popular (slave African elements). This may well exemplify the evolution of artistical ritual forms in other coastal communities of north-central Venezuela from the time of Spanish Colonialism.;The thesis is centred around the principal festivities of the community of Chuao: Corpus Christi (featuring "devil" masquerade) and the festive cycle of Saint John the Baptist (featuring images of the Saint and his mistress). Both festivities are organized by societies, the Corpus Christi society led by men and the Saint John society, by women. These societies are thus responsible for all the different aspects of the celebrations, such as the preparation for the festival, rehearsals, stages of the festivities, masks, costumes, images, dances, music, songs, speeches and poems.;These festivities are placed within the historical background of the community, and plantation of Chuao including the possible origin of the Africans arrived in Spanish America during the period of the slave trade. Moreover, the importance of the religious tradition of Chuao for an understanding of these festivities is provided by the Doctrine of Maria Tecla.

Abstract:
Transubstantiation and the cult of Corpus Christi became crucial Counter-Reformation symbols which were assigned an even more significant role during the process of Catholic renewal from the mid-sixteenth to the mid-eighteenth century. Practices outside Mass, such as pilgrimages, processions, and prayers in front of the consecrated host flourished, in particular, in early modern Bavaria. The former Duchy of Bavaria has generally been regarded as the archetypal ‘confessional' state, as the Bavarian dukes from the House of Wittelsbach took the lead in propagating the cult of the Eucharist. They acted as patrons of Baroque Catholicism which was presented to the public as an obvious visual marker of Catholic identity. This study therefore investigates how the Eucharist was popularised in the Catholic duchy between 1550 and 1750, focusing on three major themes: pilgrimages, confraternities, and the Corpus Christi procession. This study does not, however, approach the renewal of Catholicism in terms of a top-down process implemented by the Wittelsbach dukes as a method of stately power and control. Rather than arguing in favour of a state-sponsored piety imposed from above, this work explores the formation of Catholic confessional identity as a two-way-process of binding together elite and popular piety, and emphasizes the active role of the populace in constituting this identity. This is why this investigation draws primarily on research from local archives, using a rich body of both textual and visual evidence. Focusing especially on the visual aspects of Catholic piety, this project works towards an interdisciplinary approach in order to understand the ways in which Eucharistic devotion outside Mass was presented to and received by local communities within particular visual environments.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This is a book-length, hybrid collection of short stories and poetry with a critical introduction. The narrative of these stories and poems are told through the perspective of Xavi Muñoz and various characters related to him. In theme, this collection explores machismo and Xavi’s attempt at overcoming it by discovering the intersectionality between masculinity, sexuality, gender, and gender roles. In addition, the introduction theorizes about masculinity by relating it to water.

Abstract:
The present work analyses the re-ethnitisation process undertaken by the Kankuamo indians at the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta in Colombia. The questions generated by the identity movement are addressed by observing the local celebration named God-Party. The ritual of this party is defined by a journey to places called "pagamentos", traditional spaces for offerings to the ancestors. The "pagamentos" constitute not only truthful, sacred cartographies, but, most of all, a powerful language working as a grid of understandability of a memorial schema. In this schema, the recurring theme revolves around a painful conflict; which is always related to external current events

Abstract:
MS Cambridge Corpus Christi College 383 (CCCC 383) is a collection of Anglo-Saxon law-codes and related texts copied in Old English dated to the beginning of the twelfth century. The manuscript is written throughout by a single scribe in a clear, subtly decorated and easy to read English Vernacular Minuscule and decorated throughout with red pen-drawn initials. Rubrics have been supplied in the first half of the twelfth century, as well as numerous additions and emendations dating from the first half of the twelfth century through to the sixteenth century. I have conducted an extensive codicological and contextual examination of the production and use of CCCC 383. I investigated a number of significant areas: the direct evidence for the materials and methods employed in the production of the manuscript and for its storage and use throughout the period; evidence for scribal behaviour and interaction with the manuscript in the writing, miniaturing, emendation and rubrication of the manuscript; analysis of the mise-en-page and the ways in which that can be used to assess the intentions of producers and users of the manuscript; and consideration of the continued roles of the Old English language and Anglo-Saxon law in the late eleventh and first half of the twelfth century. I argue that the production of the manuscript represented a significant and meaningful endeavour on the part of its producers and users and indicates the continued applicability and of Old English and Anglo-Saxon law-codes in the historical context of the late eleventh and first half of the twelfth centuries.

As variáveis determinadas foram: oxigênio dissolvido, pH, temperatura, salinidade, transparência, nutrientes inorgânicos dissolvidos (nitrato, nitrito, amônio e o-fosfato), fósforo e nitrogênio total dissolvido, fósforo e nitrogênio orgânico dissolvido, sulfeto, poli-fosfatos, clorofila-a e feofitina-a.

Abstract:
Abstract The content of this thesis focuses on the musical work by José Hinojosa (fl. 1662-Valencia, 1673), preserved in the musical archive of the Real Colegio del Corpus Christi (Patriarca). After making a critical biography of the composer, updating the inventory of his 47 preserved works and studying the standards of practice of the musical chapel during the 11 years that José Hinojosa served as chapel master (1662-1673), I have selected, transcribed and studied a set of eight of his works. Through these works, it is possible to see, among other things, the treatment of polychorality, the employed technique of composition, theatrical and acoustic-space resources used and which were the vocal and sound features of the musical chapel he ruled. I have also done research on the use of rhetorical figures by Hinojosa, compared with the application of them in liturgical works of different composers belonging to the seventeenth century, in order to frame his work in the European context of the time. I have concluded the investigation with other aspects of interest, such as: a synthetic analysis of political, economic and cultural events in Valencia along the seventeenth century, the launching of the Real Colegio del Corpus Christi by Juan de Ribera, the double regulations concerning the College and the musical chapel, the liturgical ceremonial and, finally, the receiving of polyphonic choirbooks during the arrival of José Hinojosa as a chapel master in 1662.

Abstract:
The success of the Somme le roi by friar Laurent is confirmed by the number of languages into which it has been translated, one of which is Midle english. Among the nine translations known today, five were ignored by scholars after the remarkable edition by Nelson Francis in 1942 of the book of vices and virtues. This thesis, presenting the edition of two of these translations, is part of a wider research project which seeks to offset some lacunas in our knowledge about the tradition of these manuscripts, on the evolution of English language, on methods of translation etc…

Abstract:
Studies on Canadian Army military intelligence remain sparse in Canadian military historiography. This study is unique in that it focuses on the development, doctrine, and influence of intelligence within the I Canadian Corps throughout the Liri Valley battles during the Italian Campaign. It will be argued that I Canadian Corps intelligence achieved notable overall success in helping to break the Hitler Line by providing comprehensive and relatively up-to-date information on enemy dispositions and strengths which helped commanders and staff planners properly prepare for the operation. This success was attributable to three main factors: excellent intelligence personnel selection and training; the successful mentorship of I Canadian Corps intelligence by Eighth Army's intelligence cadre; and the overall effectiveness of 1st Canadian Infantry Division's intelligence organization which had been in the Mediterranean theatre since July 1943. Notwithstanding these successes, a number of faults within the Canadian Corps intelligence system must also be explained, including the poor performance of 5th Canadian Armoured Division's intelligence organization during the pursuit up the Liri–Sacco Valleys, and the mediocre execution of Corps counter-battery and counter-mortar operations. This study will demonstrate how an effective intelligence organization must augment existing army doctrine and how it can mitigate, though not completely eliminate, battlefield uncertainty. Further, it will also demonstrate that a comprehensive lessons-learned process must be undertaken to continually refine existing intelligence doctrine and procedures, with frequent training programs inculcating personnel in this doctrine. Taken as a whole, this study is unique as it is one of only several studies devoted solely to developing a greater understanding of a little-understood, and often forgotten, staff function within the Canadian Army during the Second World War.

This research analyzes the body as part of a process of social construction and seeks to understand the implications of the relationship between the social construction of body and evangelical religious practices. Chooses the Congregation Christian Churches, Presbyterian and Reborn in Christ in the neighborhood of Rudge Ramos, Sao Bernardo do Campo, as an investigation of this issue. This relationship is shrouded in intentions and physical manifestations involving religious practices and lifestyles of people who attend these names in the neighborhood in question. The study developed a mapping of physical techniques that mean the way people are "worth" of their bodies. When assessing the social, cultural and economic factors related to the neighborhood in question, and inserted it to the churches, we seek to understand how these three gospel traditions develop differentiated body techniques. Also, if people who attend these churches suffer any influence of the "model" of embodiment of society today is to claim that the quest for social mobility and the conditions of consumption linked to the body.(AU)

Abstract:
The doctoral thesis is a research on every aspect related to the commercial theatre in Murcia city from the end of 16th century to the 18th century. The research provides with information about corrales de comedias (former play houses, theatres), actors and theatre companies at the Golden Age as well as a look through Corpus Christi feast in Murcia. At the dawn of Baroque the first place for performing in Murcia was a courtyard in Nuestra Señora de Gracia y Buen Suceso Hospital where some performances took place from 1593 to 1609. In 1609 the Toro theatre was built; it was a big municipal play house which tried to meet the demand for theatre in the city. In 1633 performances were moved to a building in Santa Catalina square in Murcia, but in 1636 the Toro theatre reopened and worked until the 19th century.Murcia city was a permanent performing spot for actors and companies when touring the south and east of the country.
