Abstract:
B. „Cortes“).

Abstract:
The main aim of this study es the treatment that the Spanish Constitution of 1812 gives the jurisdiction in Chapter V, the longest one in the Constitution. This is preceded by a detailed analysis of how Spanish libreralism planned to implant an independent judiciary power within a state of rights, sometimes taking the initiative in a tentative reforms facing our monarchas in the XVII century and builing the toundations in the Cortes de Cadiz after establishing through those same courts the so called «provisional Regulation» for the judiciary power, which together with the abolition of torture and the paring down of criminal causes preceded the passing of this Chapter V. Indeed in this topic, the Cadiz Constitution of 1812 would have an impact in subsequent Spanish constitutionalism as well as that of other nations.

Abstract:
AbstractSince the turn of the century, a Pliocene-Pleistocene connection between the Death Valley-Owens River pluvial system and the Colorado River drainage basin has been frequently postulated. The two most commonly proposed routes involve (1) a southward overflow from the Death Valley Lake system or (2) southward migration of the Mojave River between its present course and a more southerly route. Under the present topographic regime, a Death Valley Lake capable of overflowing the bedrock saddle at Ludlow, California and discharging southward into the Bristol, Cadiz, and Danby Lake basins (and eventually the Colorado River) would be over 12,000 km2 in size. Few surface and subsurface indicators exist to support either a fluvial or lacustrine connection. Evidence from deep cores and boreholes drilled in Soda, Bristol, Cadiz, and Danby dry lake basins indicate that a hydrologic connection has not occurred during the past 4 myr. No well-documented paleoshoreline features have been located at elevations corresponding to the above hydrologic systems in Death Valley, Silver-Soda, Bristol, or Danby Lake basins. In the Cadiz, Silurian, and Broadwell basins these features have not been found at all. Therefore, we conclude that a hydrologic connection between the Death Valley-Owens River system and the Colorado River has not occurred along either of these routes since the middle Pliocene.

Abstract The Constitution of Cadiz of 1812 defines the profiles of the spanish subject and spanish citizen, to ones a clearly modern citizen, to others, a still immersed subject in the corporate world of the Ancient Regime. Is still debated, therefore, if the gaditana constitution has the aspects of the modern citizenship or if it drags the conditions of the former local nature which tends to become universal in the Hispanic Empire. From the proposed Great Memorial of the Conde-Duque de Olivares and the Nueva Planta decrees of Felipe V, We intend to review the main questions which appears crystallized in the Novísima Recopilación, then discussed in the Cortes doceañistas. There the terms nature and citizenship played a central role in the discussions, as well as later uses of corporate conceptions.

Abstract:
Computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) approaches could help to objectify reporting on prostate mpMRI, but their use in many cases is hampered due to common-built algorithms that are not publicly available. The aim of this study was to develop an open-access CADx algorithm with high accuracy for classification of suspicious lesions in mpMRI of the prostate. This retrospective study was approved by the local ethics commission, with waiver of informed consent. A total of 124 patients with 195 reported lesions were included. All patients received mpMRI of the prostate between 2014 and 2017, and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided and targeted biopsy within a time period of 30 days. Histopathology of the biopsy cores served as a standard of reference. Acquired imaging parameters included the size of the lesion, signal intensity (T2w images), diffusion restriction, prostate volume, and several dynamic parameters along with the clinical parameters patient age and serum PSA level. Inter-reader agreement of the imaging parameters was assessed by calculating intraclass correlation coefficients. The dataset was stratified into a train set and test set (156 and 39 lesions in 100 and 24 patients, respectively). Using the above parameters, a CADx based on an Extreme Gradient Boosting algorithm was developed on the train set, and tested on the test set. Performance optimization was focused on maximizing the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (ROCAUC). The algorithm was made publicly available on the internet. The CADx reached an ROCAUC of 0.908 during training, and 0.913 during testing (p = 0.93). Additionally, established rule-in and rule-out criteria allowed classifying 35.8% of the malignant and 49.4% of the benign lesions with error rates of <2%. All imaging parameters featured excellent inter-reader agreement. This study presents an open-access CADx for classification of suspicious lesions in mpMRI of the prostate with high accuracy. Applying the provided rule-in and rule-out criteria might facilitate to further stratify the management of patients at risk.

Abstract:
Abstract. IODP Expedition 339 drilled five sites in the Gulf of Cadiz and two off the west Iberian margin (November 2011 to January 2012), and recovered 5.5 km of sediment cores with an average recovery of 86.4%. The Gulf of Cadiz was targeted for drilling as a key location for the investigation of Mediterranean outflow water (MOW) through the Gibraltar Gateway and its influence on global circulation and climate. It is also a prime area for understanding the effects of tectonic activity on evolution of the Gibraltar Gateway and on margin sedimentation. We penetrated into the Miocene at two different sites and established a strong signal of MOW in the sedimentary record of the Gulf of Cadiz, following the opening of the Gibraltar Gateway. Preliminary results show the initiation of contourite deposition at 4.2–4.5 Ma, although subsequent research will establish whether this dates the onset of MOW. The Pliocene succession, penetrated at four sites, shows low bottom current activity linked with a weak MOW. Significant widespread unconformities, present in all sites but with hiatuses of variable duration, are interpreted as a signal of intensified MOW, coupled with flow confinement. The Quaternary succession shows a much more pronounced phase of contourite drift development, with two periods of MOW intensification separated by a widespread unconformity. Following this, the final phase of drift evolution established the contourite depositional system (CDS) architecture we see today. There is a significant climate control on this evolution of MOW and bottom-current activity. However, from the closure of the Atlantic–Mediterranean gateways in Spain and Morocco just over 6 Ma and the opening of the Gibraltar Gateway at 5.3 Ma, there has been an even stronger tectonic control on margin development, downslope sediment transport and contourite drift evolution. The Gulf of Cadiz is the world's premier contourite laboratory and thus presents an ideal testing ground for the contourite paradigm. Further study of these contourites will allow us to resolve outstanding issues related to depositional processes, drift budgets, and recognition of fossil contourites in the ancient record on shore. The expedition also verified an enormous quantity and extensive distribution of contourite sands that are clean and well sorted. These represent a relatively untapped and important exploration target for potential oil and gas reservoirs.

Abstract:
Background. We aimed to explore the prognostic impact of the hypoxia-induced factors (HIFαs) 1 and 2, the metabolic HIF-regulated glucose transporter GLUT-1, and carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) in non-gastrointestinal stromal tumor soft tissue sarcomas (non-GIST STS).Methods.Duplicate cores with viable tumor tissue from 206 patients with non-GIST STS were obtained and tissue microarrays were constructed. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to evaluate expression of hypoxic markers.Results.In univariate analyses, GLUT-1 (P<0.001) and HIF-2α (P=0.032) expression correlated significantly with a poor disease-specific survival (DSS). In the multivariate analysis, however, only high expression of GLUT-1 (HR 1.7, CI 95% 1.1–2.7,P=0.021) was a significant independent prognostic indicator of poor DSS.Conclusion.GLUT-1 is a significant independent negative prognostic factor in non-GIST STS.

Abstract:
Four novel calix[4]arene-based glycoclusters were synthesized by conjugating the saccharide units to the macrocyclic scaffold using the CuAAC reaction and using long and hydrophilic ethylene glycol spacers. Initially, two galactosylcalix[4]arenes were prepared starting from saccharide units and calixarene cores which differ in the relative dispositions of the alkyne and azido groups. Once the most convenient synthetic pathway was selected, two further lactosylcalix[4]arenes were obtained, one in the cone, the other one in the 1,3-alternate structure. Preliminary studies of the interactions of these novel glycocalixarenes with galectin-3 were carried out by using a lectin-functionalized chip and surface plasmon resonance. These studies indicate a higher affinity of lactosyl- over galactosylcalixarenes. Furthermore, we confirmed that in case of this specific lectin binding the presentation of lactose units on a cone calixarene is highly preferred with respect to its isomeric form in the 1,3-alternate structure.

Abstract:
AbstractThe development of overpressure in continental margins is typically evaluated with hydrogeological models. Such approaches are used to both identify fluid flow patterns and to evaluate the development of high pore pressures within layers with particular physical properties that may promote slope instability. In some instances, these models are defined with sediment properties based on facies characterization and proxy values of porosity; permeability or compressibility are derived from the existing literature as direct measurements are rarely available. This study uses finite-element models to quantify the differences in computed overpressure generated by fine-grained hemipelagic sediments from the Gulf of Cadiz, offshore Martinique and the Gulf of Mexico, and their consequences in terms of submarine slope stability. By comparing our simulation results with in situ pore pressure data measured in the Gulf of Mexico, we demonstrate that physical properties measured on volcanic-influenced hemipelagic sediments underestimate the computed stability of a submarine slope. Physical properties measured on sediments from the study area are key to improving the reliability and accuracy of overpressure models, and when that information is unavailable, literature data from samples with similar lithologies, composition and depositional settings enable better assessment of the overpressure role as a pre-conditioning factor in submarine landslide initiation.

Abstract:
This article examines collective petitioning in metropolitan Spain during the Age of Revolution, focusing on the practices and discourses that framed petitioning as a meaningful form of action. There was a deeply rooted tradition of petitioning in old regime Spain, which was part of the ordinary bureaucratic workings of the crown and also provided a legitimizing framework for rioting in specific contexts. The collective experimentation in popular participation after the 1808 Napoleonic invasion transformed petitioning. Petitioning was first reconceptualized in accordance with the emerging language of rights and popular sovereignty. Activists and commentators had some awareness of the use of public petitioning in Britain, and once the representative Cortes met in Cadiz in 1810, public petition drives on public issues became part of the political culture. At the same time, the need to legitimate unconventional forms of action in the context of a crisis in the state converted petitioning into an all-embracing right. The right to petition, not only encompassed signed protest texts but also legitimated the old tradition of petitioning by riot and further was used to justify provincial rebellions, juntas, and military pronunciamientos. In comparative terms, this article highlights the elasticity of the language of petitioning during the Age of Revolution and cautions against narrowly associating it with one particular form of collective action or historical trajectory.

Abstract. This work presents the quantitative study of climatological distributions of mid-depth Source Water Types in the NE Atlantic by the Optimum Multiparameter analysis (OMP), merging a~number of regional results from particular synoptic sections. The cores of the Mediterranean Water (MW), the modified Antarctic Intermediate Water (mAAIW) and the Subarctic Intermediate Water (SAIW) are detected and spatial variations of their depth/density are obtained: as expected, spreading of the source water types is predominantly isopycnic and follows the major mid-depth circulation patterns. In some areas the turbulent transport should also be considered. The MW in the Atlantic spreads as 3 cores of different density: the upper MW core (northwest of the first transition line between 28° W, 35° N and 14° W, 44° N) is found in the neutral density range of 27.65–27.70 kg m−3 and depths of 900–1000 m; the main MW core (northwest of the second transition line between 35° W, 28° N and 10° W, 37° N) has neutral density around 27.75 kg m−3 and is found at 1000–1100 m; the lower MW core (southeast of the second transition) has neutral density around 27.80 kg m−3 and is found at 1250–1350 m. The upper MW core has comparatively low MW contents (below 30%) and is speculated to be transported by the mean flow from the northern Iberian Peninsula and the Bay of Biscay to the northern Azores. The main MW core contains the most of the MW. It primarily originates from the MUC between Cape St. Vincent and Estremadura Promontory, where the strongest local decrease of the topographic β-effect is detected and is transported west by a flow at around 39° N. The lower MW core originates in the Gulf of Cadiz and is translated southwestwards by dominating flows. The SAIW (the core between 27.70 and 27.75 kg m−3) is found to spread south along both slopes of the MAR. The SAIW east of the MAR mixes with the upper and the main MW cores and re-circulates in a cyclonic gyre at 15–25° W and 34–39° N as far south as the Azores Current. The northernmost spreading limit of the mAAIW (the core between 27.60 and 27.65 kg m−3) is at 25–29° N, but its influence reaches 32° N east and west of the Canary Islands. Its maximum concentration is found south of the Canaries, from where the mAAIW is transported westwards, parallel to the westward transport of the deep fraction of the MW.

Abstract:
Palabras Clave: co-enseñanza, pareja pedagógica, educación inclusiva, formación inicial del profesorado.ABSTRACTThis work approaches the “pedagogical partnerns” as an innovative didactic strategy of inclusive orientation, which characterizes a modality of collaborative teaching (co-teaching). This strategy requires the intentional and voluntary involvement of two teachers in all aspects related to teaching: planning, assessment and, in particular, during the development of class sessions. Initially the literatura on the subject of study is reviewed, in order to documents its potential in improving the didactic process, and to illustrate its implications for teacher professional development; likewise, the analysis focuses on inclusive education. Secondly, we presents the results of a teaching innovation project whose central axis is the implementation of this strategy by a group of teachers of the University of Cadiz, in various degrees related to the preservice teachers. Specifically, we present the students’ particular view on the subject “Processes and Educational Contexts” of the Master in Secondary Teacher Training. It is through the voice of the students that the co-teaching model, carried out in this experience with the “pedagogical partners” , get its pedagogical value and is placed as a motor so that the students can project it towards its future practice. Keywords: co-teaching, pedagogical pair, inclusive education, initial teacher training.
