An example of a plane topological defect solution of linearized Einstein–Cartan (EC) field equation representing a cosmic wall boundary of spinning matter is given. The source of Cartan torsion is composed of two orthogonal lines of static polarized spins bounded by the cosmic plane wall. The Kopczyński–Obukhov–Tresguerres (KOT) spin fluid stress–energy current coincides with thin planar matter current in the static case. Our solution is similar to the Letelier solution of Einstein equation for multiple cosmic strings. Due to this fact we suggest that the lines of spinning matter could be anal

Modern political thought arrived on the heels of two revolutionary realizations: We are not at the center of the universe (Copernicus), which was not created for us (Darwin). How might political theory respond to a third revolutionary realization, that we are not alone, that other creatures, sentient and highly intelligent, share our vast universe? We explore answers through a dialogue between two political theorists, a human and an alien. Rather than superimposing astropolitics upon anthropolitics, we use the encounter to ask new questions, e.g., should PT foster bridges between humans and al

The first chapter of this study investigates the development of metaphors and analogies in philosophical texts ranging from Aristotle to Cicero that equate atomism with cosmological caprice and instability. Abstract This chapter explores how the concepts of time, space, the Self, the You, and the structural characteristics of the media concerned figure in the narratives. Time, for example, is fleshed out as biographical and sociocultural time whereas space takes on form in the narrative practices of managing boundaries and organizing virtual space. The analysis continues by confirming that the narrative subject is anything but isolated. The You sets foot on the narrative stage as a benchmark or a talking point. In the interplay between narrators and media, transmedia storytelling crystallizes as a new narrative form which interlinks media-based experiences from different phases of life and from different media, giving rise to a cosmos in which the narrators act as the designers of their own stories.

Abstract This chapter looks into the geographic patterns of animals and plants. It highlights how the Wallace Line and other major biogeographical boundaries were discovered, as marking fundamental divisions between the animal and plant communities of Earth. It describes examples in Earth’s geological past when major communities mixed, as when North and South America joined. And it shows how these fundamental divisions are now dissolving worldwide, on the land and in the oceans, as neobiota or ‘introduced species’ have been transported by human activities, or have followed humans on their globe-trotting travels. This homogenization of life on Earth has reset the trajectory of Earth’s biological history, though also in some instances may help ecosystems cope better with the effects of climate change.

This chapter is dedicated to analysis of Niccolò da Poggibonsi’s Libro d’Oltramare, in which this Franciscan friar recounts his pilgrimage to the holy places of the Middle East in the mid-fourteenth century. In the passage where he describes the city of Bethlehem, he writes about a tradition associated with the church of the Nativity. On Christmas Eve, the faithful made bread with the water from a well located inside the basilica, believing this bread to be endowed with certain “powers,” especially useful for pregnant women. The aim of the chapter is to analyse the different elements of the rite in order to decipher its deepest meaning, with particular attention to the bread and the water as a means to contact cosmic forces.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problems of visionary architecture in the texts of the German science fiction writer Paul Scheerbart (1863–1915). Architecture was the ideal art for Scheerbart, and the architect was the perfect ruler. The writer believed that it is the nature of architecture that determines the characteristics of culture and shapes the person of the future. For Scheerbart, cosmocentrism is characteristic, the desire to dissolve the boundaries that separate intelligent beings living on Earth and other planets from the greatness of cosmic life. Scheerbart’s fantastic architecture can serve several functions. It should awaken in a person a sense of admiration for the greatness of the cosmos, restore the integrity of the disintegrated universe, illustrate a mystical or cosmological doctrine, spiritually improve a person so that he can understand the language of an animated cosmos. Space and architecture in Scheerbart’s texts combine three features: infinite perspective (Unendlichkeitsperspektive), versatility (Vielseitigkeit) and the principle of metamorphosis (Umwandlungsprinzip). The ideal architecture of Scheerbart has the maximum abundance of forms, variability, mobility and atectonicity. The main idea laid down by Scheerbart in the project of the ideal architecture of the future is the idea of infinity and overcoming the boundaries between Earth and Space, material and spiritual, artificial and natural. Scheerbart believed that it is not a person who creates architecture, but architecture creates a new person. The ideal embodiment of this idea was for him transparent glass architecture.

Its commitment to Goetheanism sets it apart from academic science; its understanding of social justice differs from that of the mainstream left; and its stress on the human role in cosmic evolution can create tension with Gaian critiques of anthropocentrism. The relationship between anthroposophical initiatives and the Anthroposophical Society also shapes the way it interacts with other forms of environmentalism. This chapter examines the appearance in the Wake of creation myths which describe how an unbounded creator submits to the boundaries of the material world or a divine androgyne is divided into male and female. On the one hand, the drawing of a bounding circle is the first cosmogonic act; on the other, the cosmic loneliness of the primordial One causes it to split into two gendered halves. The chapter also explores the Wake’s depiction of myths of a sleeping giant or watery chaos which must be circumscribed or bounded in order for life to emerge. The bounding line of the firmament that separates the upper from the lower is one of the first cosmogonic act. The imitation of bounding cosmogonic gestures also appears in the Wake in the context of rituals of marriage, healing, and even colonial appropriation. Finally, the danger of regressing back to chaos is countered by a need to reaffirm boundaries through ritual.

Chapter Four moves beyond the boundaries of the comparative linguistic tradition to explore Richard Wagner’s extraordinarily influential, poetico-musical “realization” of the philological fantasy about Germanic verse origins, as described in Chapter Three. This chapter argues that Wagner’s dramatic project in the Ring cycle, which was inspired by his intense engagement with the language theories of Jacob Grimm, must be understood as an attempt to harness the rhythms of ancient alliterative verse to an all-encompassing, neo-Pythagorean model of cosmic-acoustic accord, such that the meter of his own, mid-19th century alliterations—when united with the harmonic modulations of his music—merges with the “meter” of the world spirit progressing through history.
