Abstract:
Background Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the leakage of urine when coughing, sneezing, or on exertion. It affects 10-35% of women, and can impair quality of life (QOL). First-line treatment is pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT). However, access barriers and embarrassment may prevent women from seeking care. There is a need for new, easily accessible ways to provide treatment. Aim To evaluate the treatment outcome, patient satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness of an Internet- based treatment programme for SUI. Methods We recruited 250 community-dwelling women aged 18-70 years, with SUI ≥

Bibliography: leaves 47-49.<br>Tuberculosis is the leading infectious killer of people living with HIV/AIDS. Millions of tuberculosis deaths could be prevented by the widespread use of the less expensive strategy of directly observed treatment (DOT). The cost-effectiveness of DOT however varies with its method of supervision. This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of community-based and self-supervision strategies of DOT in Maracha, Arua District, Uganda. Objectives: o To determine the prevalence of knee pain in the population aged ≥45 years. o To determine the benefit or otherwise of regular home exercise and telephone contact in reducing the burden of knee pain in the community. o To determine the economic burden of knee pain from a societal perspective. o To determine the cost-effectiveness and cost-utility of the compared interventions. Design: An initial postal questionnaire regarding knee pain was sent to 9296 individuals aged ≥45 years registered with two large general practices in Nottingham. In combined sewer systems (CSS) wastewater and stormwater flow through the same pipes. During severe rain episodes, the excess combined flow of untreated wastewater and stormwater is released out from the system through overflow structures, producing the combined sewer overflows (CSO). CSOs represent a threat for water quality of receiving water bodies and for human health, for what current (and future) legislation on the protection of water quality, are demanding more control on this transient discharges. Rationale Epilepsy is a common, chronic, neurological condition that disproportionately affects individuals living in low- and middle- income countries, including much of sub-Saharan Africa. Epilepsy is treatable, with the majority of individuals who take anti-epileptic drugs experiencing a reduction, or elimination, of seizures. Yet the number of individuals taking and adhering to medication in Africa is low and interventions aimed at improving treatment are lacking. The Transition cost accounting system integrates clinical, resource utilization, and financial information and is currently being used by several hospitals in Canada and the United States (U.S.) to calculate the costs of patient care. The potential use of the Transition system for estimating in-hospital costs in health services research, however, depends on the accuracy of the system's measurements. Thus, the objectives of this thesis were (1) to assess the use of hospital-based cost accounting systems to measure costs of treatment, (2) to identify potential sources of measurement error inhere

Communities that do not have access to in-house treated water often end up with a contaminated water supply, as the water to be consumed is usually sourced from communal water collection points and stored in containers.
