For this reason they are limited to making the decisions solely on the initial purchase costs. Abstract During the past decade there has been increased interest in the literature (mainly the Anglo-Saxon literature) about management accounting and costing in particular. This was attributed mainly to changes in the production techniques employed by many firms, which, according to the proponents of the new costing techniques, made traditional costing methods irrelevant. These criticisms struck a chord with many firms, and the proposed changes in costing technology were rapidly adopted by a number of companies, mainly in North America.
