Teixeira, Amito José. "Benchmarking na produção leiteira da COTREL Cooperativa Tritícola Erechim Ltda." reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da UFRGS, 2003. http://hdl.handle.net/10183/5306.

Full text
Abstract:

Paris, ENSAM, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998ENAM0046.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
For the treatment of scoliosis, traditional instrumentations such as Cotrel-Dubousset are very rigid and effect spine growth ([1] & [2]). Recently, spinal fusion-less instrumentation has been clinically introduced. These instrumentations are more spring-like (compliant). Such instrumentations include multiple level staples, vertical expanding prosthesis, and changeable rod system. However, whether the instrumentation is rigid or compliant, the growth of the spine is effected. The actual level of instrument stiffness that affects growth is not known nor well quantified. The goal of this study was to examine the effect of the level of instrumentation stiffness on the simulation of growth of the pig spine by using finite element analysis (FEA).

Abstract:
The design of modern gas turbines requires the predetermination of their dynamic behavior during transients of various kinds. This is especially true for air storage and closed cycle gas turbine plants. The present paper is an introduction to a computatational method which permits an accurate simulation of any gas turbine system. Starting with the conservation equations of aero/thermodynamics, the modular computer program COTRAN was developed, which calculates the transient behavior of individual components as well as of entire gas turbine systems. For example, it contains modules for compressors, turbines, combustion chambers, pipes etc. To demonstrate the effectiveness of COTRAN the shut-down tests of the air storage gas turbine plant Huntorf were simulated and results compared with experimental data. The agreement was found to be very good.

Abstract:
Controlled processing of carbon microfiber (CMF) reinforced polymers widens control of material properties of fabricated parts. Continuous transfer from compounding to Fused Filament Modeling (FFM) platform brings this advantage to additive manufacturing. CMF reinforced composites are compounded using a co-rotating twin screw extrusion machine (CoTSE). Controlled, direct transfer from the CoTSE to FFM is accomplished using a mechanical system comprised of interconnected feedback control subsystems. Controlled transfer of CMF reinforced composite polymers is studied over a selected range of temperatures, volumetric flow conditions, and microfiber weight fractions using the system. Characteristics of the produced materials are discussed with respect to CMF weight fractions and processing conditions.
