The Uinta Basin of northeastern Utah contains a wide variety of hydrocarbon resources including vast accumulations of crude oil and natural gas deposits, one of the largest oil shale resources in the world, and the largest tar sand deposit in the United States. In addition, unique solid hydrocarbons, including gilsonite, wurtzilite, tabbyite, and ozokerite, have a long and colorful history of exploration and/or production in the region. The most abundant of these, gilsonite, occurs in distinctive swarms of subparallel, northwest-trending veins. The lateral continuity of the veins is impressive

During the last years the numbers of wildlife-vehicle-collisions (WVC) in Bavaria increased considerably. Despite the statistical registration of WVC and preventive measures at areas of risk along the roads, the number of such accidents could not be contained. Using geospatial analysis on WVC data of the last five years for county Straubing-Bogen, Bavaria, a small-scale methodology was found to analyse the risk of WVC along the roads in the investigated area. Various indicators were examined, which may be related to WVC. The risk depends on the time of the day and year which shows correlations

Introduction: Genetic, cellular and molecular modifiers are responsible for the notoriously variable sickle cell phenotype. Haemoglobin F is a principal modulator of the SCD phenotype. Haemoglobin F inhibits the polymerization of Haemoglobin S and ameliorates the secondary effects of sickling. We measured the Haemoglobin F(HbF) in our population and compared it with other markers associated with clinical severity and clinical status of the patients.
Methods: we randomly selected 40 Hemoglobin S(HbS) patients who have never taken hydroxyurea. We measured hemoglobin F levels, packed cell v
