Most models of the impacts of climate change on the distributions of animals have focused on limits to thermal tolerances of individual species. Such "bioclimatic envelope" models do not consider the importance of interactions among species, each of which may respond to climate change in its own way. The current study investigates the levels of shell disease in <I>Cancer pagurus</I> from various sites on the Gower Peninsula. Generally, it was found that (i) male crabs displayed higher levels of the disease then females, (ii) the proportion of lesioned carapace increased with crab size, (iii) exoskeletal areas subjected to abrasion were most commonly infected and (iv) male crabs from Rhossili were less severely affected than their Langland counterparts. Factors causing mortality in North Carolina's soft-shell blue crab industry were quantified and identified at 11 crab shedding systems across the state. Operators of crab shedding systems who shed peeler crabs (pre-molt crabs) that they had caught themselves (self-caught peeler crabs) experienced significantly lower crab mortality rates than operators who shed peelers that they had bought from different sources (purchased-peeler crabs). An outbreak of a previously unrecorded shell disease in the Portunid mud crab Scylla serrata from Gladstone Harbour, Port Curtis, Queensland, was investigated. The shell lesions called 'rust spots' appeared as orange coloured areas on the dorsal carapace, which in severe cases would ulcerate to expose underlying soft tissues. The purification and characterization of fungicides were described. By resulting, we choose Monascus 31499 as the fungicide producer. That inhibitory activity（0.35U/ml）for Fusarium oxysporum was obtained when the strain was grown aerobically in a medium consisting of 1% shrimp shell wastes，0.l% K2HPO4 、0.05% MgS04 ．7H20 、0.001﹪FeSO4．7H2O 、0.3﹪NaNO3 、0.05﹪KCl 、0.l% yeast extract and 0.l% poly-peptone in 100ml medium at 25℃（pH 7）for 4 days.
