Abstract:
Job crafting, or proactive changes that individuals make in their job design, can influence and be influenced by coworkers. Although considerable research has emerged on this topic, overall, the way job crafting is responded to by coworkers has received little theoretical attention. The goal of this article is to develop a model that allows for a better understanding of job crafting in interdependent contexts. Drawing on attribution and social information theories, we propose that when job crafting has a negative or positive impact on coworkers, coworkers will make an attribution about the crafter’s prosocial motive. This attribution in turn influences whether coworkers respond in an antagonistic or a supportive way toward job crafters. Ultimately, coworkers’ reactions shape the experienced affective work outcomes of job crafters. We also theorize the factors that moderate coworkers’ reactions to job crafting behaviors and the job crafter’s susceptibility to coworker influence.

Abstract:
While technological advances provide new freedoms and opportunities, they can also lead to insecurity or to a feeling of being left behind. This paradox motivated Swedish, Estonian and Italian crafts organisations to jointly develop a training course to increase the digital confidence of crafters. The educational programme was put together and carried out in the framework of the project EUdigiTAC – Digitally Crafting New Communities of Practice. The project was funded over two years (1st May 2016 – 30th April 2018) by the EU Creative Europe programme. The goal of the project was to encourage crafters from different generations to use digital tools. This change was especially vital to middle-aged or elderly experts of crafts heritage: IT offers a much more efficient means for the description of handicraft than slower alternatives, such as books or magazines. The project involved the development of an educational programme uniting textile crafters with skilled multimedia specialists. Unconstrained discussions in small groups allowed each master of crafts to find the best means and channel for presenting their work through media. In Estonia, the focus was on audiovisual methods. Things that are difficult to describe in words are much easier to present in videos. The use of social media allows simultaneously you to share your knowledge with a large number of people. Even language barriers can be broken: a crafts video does not necessarily require verbal instructions or comments. Special attention was paid to three types of videos: those documenting the work of a master in the course of field work, training videos, and promotional videos. In the field of traditional crafts, personal development often means doing fieldwork in the workshops of experienced artisans. Good videos require a skilful interviewing technique which directs the conversation, but a purely verbal interview will be less than informative without a simultaneous demonstration of hands-on work and tacit knowledge. The second genre emphasised by our crafters was that of preparing training materials, as these are often required when presenting workshops or training courses. Audiovisual training materials can also be used in the general promotion of your work or crafting technique, enabling the audience to distinguish genuine handicraft from mass production and teaching them to value the work of a master more highly. Promotional videos allow craft entrepreneurs to draw new participants to their events or workshops, as well as to introduce their work or company. In addition to shooting and editing videos, it is also important to focus on what should be done with the end result: where and to whom the video should be shown, and how followers might be gained on social media. All this international experience-sharing was important in creating an interactive web platform which crafters could continue to use after the end of the project. All the relevant materials can be found at the project website at http://eudigitac.eu/. Experience gained through the project was used in preparing guidance materials for other organisations seeking to carry out similar training courses or projects related to the development of crafts and digital skills. The most important result of the project, however, was the general increase in awareness and digital confidence among the crafters involved – moving them from ‘This is way over my head’ to ‘This could work; it is well worth a try’.

Abstract:
Crafters are reliant upon raw materials in order to create craft projects; however, there is little research focused on understanding how the characteristics of raw materials or the retail environment affect the consumption of crafters. The purpose of this research was to describe why crafters choose to consume from certain craft businesses and what characteristics of yarn affected the consumption of crafters. The levels of design as described by Donald Norman and principles of the slow fashion movement provided the theoretical framework for the study. Data were gathered using an online survey. Both quantitative and qualitative data were gathered. A total of 657 usable surveys were collected. Four themes emerged related to the characteristics of retail environments and raw materials, which influenced crafters to consume yarn: business factors, utilitarian requirements, visual/tactile requirements, and intangible requirements.

Abstract:
Abstract Batik Indonesia was awarded as an intangible heritage by Unesco. Unfortunately, synthetic color batik has many advantages over natural dyes batik. The difficulty of selling natural color batik makes natural color batik crafters carry out educational activities to potential consumers to generate demand and purchases. The method for the research is observation for the long term, an in-depth interview to confirm the observation finding then do qualitative analysis. The research found that natural color batik crafters or ecopreneurs must have a solid green value to survive in their business. There are various ways, methods, and means to educate potential batik consumers and others. Natural color Batik artisans will choose the way he or she is most likely to do. The education is carried out continuously. This activity is aimed at prospective consumers knowing natural color batik and its advantages. This knowledge can defeat the attractiveness of low prices that synthetic color batik has. So that in the end, consumers will make a purchase. Especially for this research, its also found that the batik crafter also educates another party than potential customer therefore, the other party will support the education for the potential customer.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to use a spreadable form of creative expression, bookwork, to illustrate the encroachment upon the indigenous craft process of Namibian master crafters. In addition, the authors hope to inspire a dialogue regarding the value of interdisciplinary research between the arts and business and promote creative expression as scholarly output that can provide additional depth to research topics in business.Design/methodology/approach This study introduces bookwork as a research technique used to convey insights regarding the consequences to master crafters and indigenous craft practices arising from the economic activities of informal sector tourists as “outsiders” – those external to the indigenous Namibian Craft community.Findings In this paper, the authors convey the manner in which outsiders (such as tourists) permanently influence the traditional craft culture of indigenous communities in a largely unexplored cultural ecological niche in Namibia by purchasing low cost, easily mass produced, yet inauthentic brightly colored objects. It is likely that craft processes designed for revenue generation will encroach on the role of the master crafters in Namibian society and permanently redirect creative activities away from the indigenous practices.Research limitations/implications The researchers acknowledge the biases they have, as outsiders, in their perception of Namibian master crafters and craft practices.Social implications The human capital of the master crafters of Namibia is being eroded and traditional craft practices are being distorted due to incentives created by tourist preferences for cheap, inauthentic replicas of the master crafters’ work.Originality/value While some business disciplines, such as marketing, have incorporated the arts into their research, the use of creative expression in many business disciplines has been limited. The authors are the first to use bookwork to explore academic business research questions as per their knowledge. In addition, this study provides a new perspective, that of the outsider, in assessing how tourism impacts traditional Namibian Craft processes.

Abstract:
The platformization of crafting in an unequal world encourages discriminatory attitudes toward ethnic Others. Imagining that the “magic circle” of a subcultural platform can insulate users from racism is deeply misguided. We examine this thesis through a mixed-methods approach combining an online survey assessing perceived experiences of racism online and willingness to communicate with people of different ethnicities, discourse analysis of crafters’ online posts, and ethnographic interviews. As the e-commerce platform Etsy allowed “manufactured goods” to be sold in their marketplace as handmade, Western crafters channel their frustrations with a broken platform economy into racist sentiment against Chinese crafters. This study explores the implications of these Orientalist sentiments as a reinforcement of Western exceptionalism around originality and creativity, and it analyzes White fragility and the assumption of Whiteness within the crafting subculture.

Abstract:
Acquired from coasts and exchanged inland across North America, marine shell was an important raw material for making prestige goods, valued objects that “materialized” relationships between individuals or groups. Of interest here is how marine shell prestige goods production and exchange was organized, including the social identities of crafters and consumers. At Cahokia, shell working was associated with higher-status households, especially in the later phases of the Mississippian sequence. Shell ornaments crafted by elite households may have been used locally, but since prestige goods often passed through many hands, some shell objects may have ultimately been deposited far from Cahokia.

Abstract:
The business of making tempe every day processes 50 kg of soybeans into tempeh done manually with 4 craftsmen. But the washing of soybeans is one of the most tiring activities because the crafters have to lift buckets filled with soybeans and water so that the weight of the bucket is quite heavy. The process of washing soybeans starts from the step of pouring 10 kg of soybeans into a bucket, giving water, stirring, lifting the bucket to pouring the water in the bucket. Washing the soybeans until clean is done by the craftsman continuously up to 5 times. Processing 50 kg of soybeans causes the craftsman to carry out the process of washing soybeans 25 times each day. The craftsman complains of back pain and both arms and sometimes the craftsman does not come to work if the pain is unbearable. Utilization of soybean washing tools can reduce the washing time so that the process can be completed more quickly and the crafters do not experience pain complaints. Mechanical soybean washing causes shorter washing time for soybeans, faster work, cleaner soybeans and crafters free from complaints of back pain.

Abstract:
The importance of work engagement and the lack of engaged employees have led researchers to focus on how to enhance employees’ levels of engagement in the workplace. Although job crafting as a principal driver of work engagement has recently received much attention from academics, little is known about the processes and conditions in which employees who craft their tasks become engaged. In order to address these research gaps, we hypothesize that psychological capital (PsyCap) is likely to mediate the association between job crafting and work engagement, and that coworker support, rather than supervisor support, is likely to moderate the relationship between job crafting and PsyCap. Further, we integrated these hypotheses and tested the moderated mediation effect. Using survey data from 175 flight attendants in South Korea, we found the results to be in line with our expectations. The findings of this empirical research contribute to the understanding of how and when job crafters become engaged at work.

Abstract:
The article deals with the set of factors that influence the brewing industry of Ukraine, the interrelations between the crafting industry and mass production, in particular. The beer tourism can be the source of the development of the country and a region. In the USA and the countries of EU craft beer production is growing and became attractive for the investors, however, in Ukraine, this sector is under threat of elimination. Due to regulating acts that was recently performed, huge competition with big corporations and decrease of real income of population small crafters have a challenge to keep on functioning. The culture of beer consumption is another problem in Ukraine while in the Chez Republic or Belgium beer crafting is a respectful business supported by the local governments. One more tendency that can be promising in terms of beer crafting production development is increasing of non-alcoholic beer consumption. The market has a big potential to grow, and it can be a strategic window for local producers. In the paper, the social, economic factors are analyzed in order to develop the strategy. Among the main factors the lost of production capacities in the East played a significant role, the market interactions with Russian Federation were canceled, and new partners search took place. Moreover, the legislation has been changed several times for the rest years, and one of the most significant changes were licensing and promotion policy changes. Under these conditions, the mini-makers including beer crafters have to re-group their market strategies and market activities. The modern tendencies and possible pathways are performed, the authors offered the propositions about the strategy of the development. Authors suggested that two main trajectories exist for the beer crafters: a reactive strategy and a proactive strategy. And if a proactive strategy is chosen to be implemented, this scenario can be accomplished through Bartlett-Ghoshal Strategies Framework. Multidomestic strategy can be a response to market changes, and strategic windows that opened in 2018 (legislations changes). Keywords: crafting, brewing, development, strategy of development.

Abstract:
Batik is one of the original types of Indonesian culture, even UNESCO has determined Batik as one of the world's cultural heritages. In its development came a variety of batik motifs including the ways or processes used in producing batik. Indonesia recognizes batik as a form of art work done by humans by giving certain patterns to plain cloth by waxing wax to block color, which is what is known as batik cloth. The making of written batik requires special expertise because the process must be carried out through certain stages. The quality of the finished batik cloth is very dependent on the skills of batik craftsmen to go through each stage of the batik process. Sengguruh Village, Malang Regency has a Batik Written UKM which has quite potential to develop its business. But the lack of the number of crafters possessed is an obstacle in producing written batik. Another obstacle experienced is the lack of understanding of written batik craftsmen to each stage of the process that must be passed. The results of the written batik SOP training provide new knowledge and provide deeper understanding to the batik crafters, so that when the batik process is passed well it will produce batik cloth which is also better in quality.

Abstract:
The tarompa datuak traditional craft is one of the Minangkabau ethnic local cultural assets which can be explored to strengthen the existence of a creative economy in West Sumatra. However, the development of this craft has been eroded by time, its products are less in demand by consumers, crafters are increasingly reduced and there is no regeneration, this is caused by the absence of innovation on the product, so that the ergonomic aspects and aesthetic have not become the standard of product feasibility by the crafters. Revitalizing the tarompa datuak through the development of its product design is an urgent step to take. It aims to enrich the variety of products, increase the welfare of the community and is part of cultural preservation. Revitalization is done by using research and development methods, which starts with exploring the tarompa datuak model that already exists in West Sumatra to become a trendy model, according to the needs and desires of consumers. The revitalization process begins with exploration, design, prototype, implementation and evaluation of product feasibility, so that the product developed is empirically tested. The success of this revitalization lies in the flexibility of the community in adapting to changes in the era of disruption. The results obtained: innovative products, cultural pelestraian and community economic empowerment.

Abstract:
Abstract This article examines the legislative basis and operational effectiveness of the national and prefectural systems for designating and promoting traditional crafts in Tokyo. Traditional artisans participate in these systems primarily through their involvement in kumiai ('artisan guilds'), whose historical background and organizational structure are briefly summarized. To evaluate the usefulness of government support for contemporary craft practitioners, four broad and interrelated categories of kumiai activities are examined: promoting craft business, maintaining and enhancing craft skills and product quality, securing the future of craft traditions, and procuring craft materials. These goals are reflected in the frameworks of national and prefectural legislation that aims to support the efforts of kumiai. However, these goals and the resulting legislation have created a sustained discourse of tension palpably felt by many crafters themselves: the clash between laws designed to protect or promote 'traditional' crafts and other laws that aim to safeguard ecology or animal welfare. Examination of this tension as it is understood and discussed by artisans themselves reveals that, although the positive impact of traditional craft designation systems is widely recognized, it is also perceived that incompatible environmental protection laws can negatively affect their business and threaten the long-term sustainability of craft traditions.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the capacities of women during the Covid-19 pandemic. In Indonesia, Covid-19 has changed many aspects. Haphazard policy making also adds to the workload of the community, both in the domestic and public sphere. Women as agents who contribute to providing food needs in the realm of the family are almost never included in policy making, especially during the pandemic. This makes the policies issued cannot accommodate the needs of women. Meanwhile, the unfinished pandemic also exacerbates the subordinate conditions experienced by women. This paper uses a gender analysis model of the Capasities and Vulnerabilities Analysis Framework (CVA) to see the extent of the capacities and vulnerabilities of women crafters of reyeng in Dusun Contong, Ngunggahan Village in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is qualitative-descriptive and data collection was taken by observation and in-depth interviews. The results of this study indicate that women crafters of reyeng during the Covid-19 pandemic were vulnerable due to limited access to aspects of health and social assistance. However, these women also have the capacity and capability to adapt to a pandemic. This capability is evidenced by the ability to use the narrow land around the house to grow vegetables and exchange food and bamboo with other reyeng women craftsmen.

Abstract:
The implementation of sustainability-oriented practices in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been discussed frequently over the years. Recent studies on sustainability have focused mainly on links between ecological and economic sustainability. This exploratory study aims to explore institutional barriers and facilitators regarding the implementation of sustainability-oriented practices in the Indonesian batik industry and to provide policy recommendations. The Indonesian batik industry is well-known for its cultural heritage and for being part of the Indonesian identity. Batik products are mostly hand-crafted by women crafters. The study used in-depth insights from two focus groups conducted with entrepreneurs active in the batik industry, while also building on earlier empirical insights. The lack of customer knowledge and socio-cultural and regulatory factors were found to be barriers to sustainability in batik SMEs. Ecological, technological, socio-cultural, and political factors were found to facilitate achieving sustainability objectives. This study contributes to the sustainable entrepreneurship and women entrepreneurship literature by considering facilitators and barriers as they are experienced by batik entrepreneurs and by furthering the conceptualization of sustainable entrepreneurs as either “committed” or “followers”.

Abstract:
The group of Silver Craftsman Cipta Karya Pertiwi Br. Karang Dalem I of the Bongkasa Pertiwi Village, Abiansemal-Badung has the potential to be developed as a tourist destination. This potential is still not able to be processed properly considering the declining silver crafters that do exist in Br. Karang Dalem I. A fundamental problem that needs special attention is that the traditional silver crafters will not become extinct because they are defeated by silver artisans with machines in other areas. The residential environment owned by Br. Karang Dalem I has also become an asset that has a high sale value with a unique atmosphere of a traditional Balinese residential environment. It just needs a little touch so that the face of this region is increasingly supportive as a tourist destination with productive economic products. Lack of understanding and awareness of partner groups about products, management, and the environment are fundamental issues raised in this PKM. The solutions offered are divided into 3 parts: solutions for products, management and environmental management. The output of the solution in the aspect of product production is a change in the mechanism of the production process without reducing production details and traditions. The output of management solutions is improving business performance and community welfare. The output of settlement settlement structuring solutions is the changing face of a stronger environment into a tourism-worthy environment with architectural and landscape elements.

Abstract:
Although it has been shown that singing together encourages faster social bonding to a group compared with other activities, it is unknown whether this group-level “collective” bonding is associated with differences in the ties formed between individual singers and individuals engaging in other activities (“relational” bonding). Here we present self-report questionnaire data collected at three time points over the course of seven months from weekly singing and non-singing (creative writing and crafts) adult education classes. We compare the proportion of classmates with whom participants were connected and the social network structure between the singing and non-singing classes. Both singers and creative writers show a steeper increase over time in relational bonding measured by social network density and the proportion of their classmates that they could name, felt connected with, and talked to during class compared to crafters, but only the singers show rapid collective bonding to the class-group as a whole. Together, these findings indicate that the process of creating a unitary social group does not necessarily rely on the creation of personal relationships between its individual members. We discuss these findings in the light of social cohesion theory and social identity theory.

Abstract:
The development of the weaving industry in Indonesia is an important effort to preserve the nation's culture and improve the economic prosperity of the local community. If weaving is managed well, it will accommodate the workforce and eventually their welfare will increase. Sambas Regency is one of the regions in Indonesia which has traditional woven fabrics. The ability of human resources to always produce innovation is a key factor for a business to be able to survive in conditions of intense competition. To increase the variety of patterns and product diversification needed the ability to innovate from weaving craftsmen. Innovation capability of each individual is different, not all individuals have the talent to innovate. Innovation capability can develop because of knowledge. Knowledge sharing behavior has an important role for innovation. Sharing knowledge is a driver of increased innovation ability (Lin, 2007; Rahab, Sulistyandari, & Sudjono, 2011). Individual confidence that he can carry out their duties is very important to build the ability to innovate. Self-efficacy is believed to influence the choice of tasks, effort, perseverance, excitement, and achievement (Bandura, 2012). Previous research concluded that the effect of self-efficacy on innovation behavior was carried out by Hsiao, Tu, Chang, & Chen (2015). The problem in this research is whether knowledge sharing and self-efficacy affect the innovative behavior of weaving craftsmen? Keywords: innovation, self-efficacy, knowledge sharing

Abstract:
Rural Crafts are crafts with agrarian roots, but they are not easily located historically, or within today’s developed markets. This study stresses Rural over Heritage Crafts (based in manual skills and traditional materials, designs and techniques), although the two are not mutually exclusive. Rural Crafts are considered, present and past, through interviews with practitioners based in South Wiltshire. The study embraces networks of crafters, interviews with individuals and a focus for a rural craft event located at the Harnham Water Meadows at Salisbury, a historic location. It is established that, while few participants sustained themselves financially through their craft, it was clear that participation is ‘value driven’, providing personal benefits. The ethos of sustainability is a strong theme, both in sourcing materials and in the processes employed, especially true for individuals working with wood and thatching. Few clear similarities are found from past cottage industries, although the sense of continuity in craft is still strong. Networks included craft associations, and opportunities for informal learning, but there is a lack of formal training opportunities. This finding may be historic, as most people interviewed were over 60 years. As well as an age bias, there is a strong gender bias with men dominating regular part-time or full-time paid occupations and women treating their craft more as a hobby. Most people treat sales of any products as a bonus, and the future of such activities is dependent more upon personal interests and networks than on formally trained (often younger) individuals, more so than formal training delivered through individual organizations or companies. Otherwise, our conclusions are in line with modern ideas of personal, well-being and social benefits derived from craft activities.

Onion chips are foods made from a dough of flour, water and other ingredients that can be easily found in various places, but are generally made manually. Dough making is an activity that requires the longest time and greatly determines the quality of the resulting onion chips. Crafters need a long time, great effort and complaints of pain in several parts of the body due to this activity. This service activity provides a dough sheeting tool to facilitate the work of craftsmen and reduce activity time. The quality of the onion chips produced is getting better and craftsmen are also free from complaints of muscle pain.

Abstract:
The article examines the interest in Scythian imagery and motifs in contemporary arts and crafts, both in Tuva and outside Russia, on a surge after the excavation of Arzhan II burial site. As proved by numerous references, the most popular of the Arzhan II finds was the stylized image of the Scythian stag on a golden hair pin. It has since appeared on the photo taken by Russian photographer Andrei Bronnikov, whose main subject is jewelry. Tattoo artists in English-speaking regions have seen an uptick in customers requesting Scythian stag tattoo designs, due in large part to the discovery of the popularly dubbed “Ukok Princess” and increase in interest in prehistoric fantasy media. Russian-speaking fashion designers redefine textile and ornament in the twenty-first century, influenced by the golden accents of the looped stag in their work, at times inventing an embellished narrative of the past. Folk crafters have created costume and jewelry designs for a different world they wish to inhabit, even creating alter-egos and stories that accompany Scythian-inspired pieces. Finally, within Tuva, wood carving continues thanks to trailblazers that promote folk handicrafts through education and archival work. Artists around the world are fascinated by this unique relic of the past and employ the symbol in romantic imaginings of their past and present.

Waste management is still defined as limited to collection, transportation and garbage disposal. The follow-up of the meaning is the provision of facilities such as garbage bins, garbage trucks and waste collection land. Waste management has not included waste separation. Segregation of waste can minimize the amount of waste that must be discharged to the final place. Segregation of waste can supply recyclable raw materials and handicrafts made from garbage. The manufacture of handicraft products from garbage is still local and requires socialization and training. It is needed to increase the number of craftsmen and garbage absorption on the crafters. Through careful socialization and training, citizens' awareness of waste management becomes advanced by making handicrafts of economic value from waste materials.

Abstract:
Paguyuban Batik Tulis Langensari (PBTLS) is a community of batik artisans in the area around Embung Langensari, Yogyakarta. Determining the target of enthusiast of handmade batik from PBTLS crafters requires a strategy so that batik results can be right on target. The strategy that will be carried out requires an agreement that becomes a joint agreement in the community, given the current fashion trends that are developing very fast. Along with the development of the main trends in life, namely go green that returns to nature, fashion trends are also following. Today's global fashion trends are shifting from fast fashion to slow fashion. The target of the PBTLS is to determine the meeting point between products that have been produced as supply and market needs/demand. The method used in determining PBTLS targets is carried out through 4 stages. The first stage identifies the range of products that have been produced by PBTLS. The second stage determines the target users of PBTLS products. The third stage determines the direction of product development. Then the fourth step determines the uniqueness of PBTLS products. In carrying out these four steps, a crafter's poll was conducted through a "mentimeter application" conducted on 17 PBTLS artisans and focus group discussions (FGD). Through the application of the "mentimeter" the results of the PBTLS artisans poll can be immediately known to be discussed and formulated together through the FGD. The results obtained by the main target of PBTLS are middle-aged mothers consumers. Uniform fashion / formal batik fashion becomes the main target for the direction of PBTLS product development by developing the unique PBTLS products namely motifs and colors of handmade batik.

AbstractHouseholds, communities, and society exist in a mutually constituting relationship, shaping and being shaped by one another. Daily life within households can have political dimensions and affect societal organization. Research at the Maya farming community of Chan in Belize demonstrates how households shaped their lives, history, and politics for 2,000 years (800b.c.–a.d.1200). We examine the households of Chan's leaders and the social, economic, political, and religious relationships between leading households and other households across the community to show how novel forms of political practice arose through household interaction. Community leaders and households across the community developed community-focused ritual practices and group-oriented social, economic, ideological, and political strategies that were critical in the development of their community, were distinctive from normative individual-focused political practices of the Classic Maya kings, and may have influenced the later development of more diverse political strategies in the Maya area in the Postclassic period.
